Transcript
Speaker A:

On this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast, we have a new tongue twister for you.

Speaker B:

Do all classic horny demons whistle?

Speaker B:

Try saying that one.

Speaker A:

Do all classic horny demons whistle?

Speaker B:

Let's do this.

Speaker B:

Welcome to this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.

Speaker B:

I'm Diana.

Speaker A:

And I'm Liz.

Speaker B:

And we're going to talk about season 12, episode 12, Stuck in the middle with you.

Speaker A:

Suck in the middle.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

Right in the head.

Speaker A:

There we go.

Speaker B:

Yep.

Speaker B:

I know, I know.

Speaker B:

I'm like, there it goes.

Speaker B:

H. Yeah.

Speaker B:

What have you been up to?

Speaker A:

So I binge watch the.

Speaker A:

Well, first I binge listened to the Curse of America's Next Top Model, and then I binge watched the new Netflix documentary on Next Top Model.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

That.

Speaker A:

That has been taking up my pop culture sphere for the past, you know, week.

Speaker A:

Well, I was.

Speaker A:

Because I was really anticipating that the.

Speaker A:

The Netflix special coming out.

Speaker A:

So I wanted to listen to the podcast first.

Speaker A:

And the podcast, like, had things that they didn't talk about in the special.

Speaker A:

So I feel like I would honestly recommend that people do that.

Speaker A:

I would say if you really want to deep dive this, go listen to the Curse of the.

Speaker A:

Of America's Next Top Model first and then watch the Netflix series, because then you'll be like, why didn't Tyra talk about that?

Speaker A:

Or, what the.

Speaker A:

What is Tyra hiding?

Speaker A:

And I really have.

Speaker A:

My opinion of Tyra is not.

Speaker B:

Not good.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

It's.

Speaker A:

It's.

Speaker A:

I have.

Speaker A:

It makes you have some feelings, especially the way she treated the Jays.

Speaker A:

I. I have some feelings about that.

Speaker A:

And Ms. J had a stroke and that was very upsetting.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

But I hope she walks a catwalk soon.

Speaker A:

Like, that was.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

That was.

Speaker A:

That part wasn't great.

Speaker A:

But they.

Speaker A:

They were.

Speaker A:

They were so fabulous.

Speaker A:

I know.

Speaker A:

It was a real.

Speaker B:

I.

Speaker A:

As a thing to watch on television, I would recommend it.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

And I don't recommend that.

Speaker A:

You know, I don't recommend things lightly.

Speaker A:

I just.

Speaker A:

But also, I. I think it also.

Speaker A:

If you watched America's Next Top Model, if you did not watch America's Next Top Model, I don't know if it's for you.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

It may not resonate as much, but what.

Speaker B:

I never got into it.

Speaker A:

It's very much of my generation.

Speaker A:

It's very much a Generation X thing.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker A:

And so, yeah, there's.

Speaker B:

Aware of it to it.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And then thinking about how much it shapes the culture and the things that were around me and probably my Eating disorders, you know, like, it was.

Speaker A:

There's a whole bunch of things you're like, oh, yeah, yeah, that was up.

Speaker A:

And then like, oh, yeah, I can't believe they did that.

Speaker A:

So it's.

Speaker A:

I still think it's enjoyable if you didn't watch and maybe that it makes you go back and watch some of the cycles, too.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I would say watching the cycles, but I know they're going to do a cycle 25.

Speaker A:

That's the whole reason that Tyra did that is because she wants to do one.

Speaker A:

So I know they're going to come out with it.

Speaker A:

So that's what's been on my mind this week.

Speaker A:

Well, that's at least been my distraction.

Speaker B:

Oh, that's something.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I'm in Love is Blind season because they just dropped.

Speaker B:

The new season just dropped.

Speaker B:

So, yeah, that's where I'm at on my.

Speaker B:

My weird reality tv.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Thing.

Speaker A:

But yeah, see, I'm watching things about reality tv.

Speaker B:

That's fair.

Speaker A:

That's how meta.

Speaker A:

How meta I am.

Speaker A:

Like, no, I pass the reality tv.

Speaker A:

I need to watch the things that are about the reality tv.

Speaker B:

About the reality tv.

Speaker B:

Fair enough.

Speaker B:

Exciting.

Speaker A:

So, yeah.

Speaker A:

And what about you?

Speaker A:

Besides Love is Blind?

Speaker B:

Oh, my gosh.

Speaker B:

Well, I've been busy.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

Like, so I went and saw.

Speaker B:

Went and saw some bands last week.

Speaker B:

I saw Desi Vi and Angel White at this really cute, small, like, venue called Firehouse Gastropub in Grand Prairie.

Speaker B:

And then went to 214 day in downtown Dallas, which was clearly Valentine's, but Dallas is celebrating 2 and 4 a day.

Speaker B:

Anyways, that was pretty.

Speaker B:

It.

Speaker B:

That was in the AT T Discovery Green park downtown, which kind of cool place.

Speaker B:

Like when you're exploring, like, spot in your city that you've never been.

Speaker B:

I was like, oh, I never come here.

Speaker B:

This is kind of neat.

Speaker B:

Okay, and then what else?

Speaker B:

I feel like I've been busy with all kinds of things.

Speaker B:

Oh, I went and had a good mall day, did some shopping.

Speaker B:

I then went to Houston and saw a show at Steven Wilson Jr. And Shelby Stone at White Oak Music Hall.

Speaker B:

And now I'm tired.

Speaker A:

Yeah, it's a lot things.

Speaker A:

That sounds like a lot of things that are very exhausting.

Speaker B:

Yes, yes.

Speaker A:

They are all crammed into one thing.

Speaker B:

All crammed into a short period of time.

Speaker B:

But yeah, so, you know, it'll be fine.

Speaker A:

Very cool.

Speaker A:

So that's exciting.

Speaker A:

And hopefully you'll get some rest and.

Speaker A:

And not be so tired.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

You're not tired, but I'm icing and

Speaker B:

elev Plating my knee still.

Speaker B:

So I'm still making that happen.

Speaker B:

Here we go.

Speaker A:

Cool.

Speaker A:

So let's talk about this episode.

Speaker A:

There's nothing to talk about in terms of Jensen or Jared.

Speaker A:

Oh, there is.

Speaker B:

Jared did.

Speaker B:

So Jared posted something about damn it on his Instagram, but it's like super subtle and it's just like, oh, it's been a crazy month.

Speaker B:

We're back to things or whatever.

Speaker B:

It's super like subtle and vague, but he doesn't address how he broke his leg.

Speaker A:

Still.

Speaker B:

But he did post oh, things being weird, but he didn't answer any questions.

Speaker A:

Oh, this is just being weird.

Speaker A:

So being weird being that you got.

Speaker A:

You broke it dancing at an EDM festival.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I will continue to perpetuate that rumor until you come on the show and prove me wrong.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

So this episode, speaking of it is a reference.

Speaker A:

It is a reference to that song, which is by the band Steelers Wheel.

Speaker A:

And it is most famous, and this is on the Supernatural Wiki.

Speaker A:

It is most famous for its use in Quentin Tarantino's first feature film, Reservoir Dogs.

Speaker A:

The episode, and this is true, also pays homage.

Speaker A:

Homage to Tarantino through the use of non linear storytelling and the use of title cards in scene transition.

Speaker A:

So that is.

Speaker A:

That is explainable.

Speaker A:

And this was season 12, episode 12.

Speaker A:

I love a 12 12.

Speaker A:

,:

Speaker A:

Oh, back when we were so young.

Speaker A:

And was directed by Richard Speight Jr. You know, Gabriel, the man that you can see me canoodling with on a cattle.

Speaker A:

Canoodling, but hanging out with on a couch on a boat so you can look at her pictures and see that.

Speaker A:

So we last saw him direct season 11's episode 8, Just My Imagination.

Speaker A:

And this was written by Davey Perez.

Speaker A:

And speaking of things that get stuck in my head, he last directed, last wrote for this season, episode four, American Nightmare.

Speaker A:

And now Q.

Speaker A:

That song stuck in my head.

Speaker A:

All right, so in our recap, we've got Arthur Ketch, British Men of Letters.

Speaker A:

British Men of Letters trying to kill people.

Speaker A:

They have toys, they have some other weapons.

Speaker A:

Lucifer being exercised.

Speaker A:

Kelly Klein, Mary being pitched.

Speaker A:

The Minute of letters.

Speaker B:

Yeah, that's where we got that.

Speaker A:

And we start off with Mr. Catch annoyingly making.

Speaker B:

Fixing his coffee or tea, I'm guessing.

Speaker B:

I don't know because he's British.

Speaker B:

Is that rude?

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

Some British people drink coffee.

Speaker B:

Fair enough.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

And he says, tell me a story.

Speaker B:

And we get our first.

Speaker B:

Our first card.

Speaker A:

And yeah, and that says it's 5:20pm and so now we go.

Speaker A:

Okay, we should probably pay attention to time.

Speaker A:

We don't realize how much and how annoying it's going to be.

Speaker A:

But, yes, it's 5:20, and Dean has a menu, and he is trying to flirt with the waitress, and he is denied.

Speaker B:

Denied.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So it's Sam, Dean, Castiel and Mary are at this diner with Wally, who we met before briefly, when he got the.

Speaker B:

The pitch from the British Men of Letters.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

And he told basically to lick his ass.

Speaker A:

And I don't think he used those words, but it was something similar.

Speaker A:

And so the WI FI password is extra cheese.

Speaker A:

I don't know why I have that written down.

Speaker A:

I just thought it was funny.

Speaker B:

I appreciate it.

Speaker B:

Because it's also really confusing because they're trying to place their order and they're like, extra cheese.

Speaker B:

And they're like, wait, what?

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker B:

And she's like, no, no, that's the password.

Speaker B:

It's a cute exchange.

Speaker B:

Gold star.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker B:

But the waitresses totally rejects Dean, but is all about cats, which is cute.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker B:

And he's.

Speaker B:

Dean's all excited because he's gonna make this a teachable moment.

Speaker B:

But either way, Mary gets a phone call, and she says it's from a hunter that needs help.

Speaker B:

And while that's happening, Sam's talking about how he's downloading all the bunker files on the diner through the diner's WI fi, but their WI fi sucks.

Speaker A:

And I'm like, yeah, what are you

Speaker B:

trying to do, sir?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So he has.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Once again, they've taken all the files in the bunker and they've made a cert.

Speaker A:

They've.

Speaker A:

Please put them onto a server.

Speaker A:

And so now he's trying to connect to that server.

Speaker A:

And then I'm like, I bet he made the logger, like, Hunter admin.

Speaker A:

Admin.

Speaker A:

And then that's just a nerd joke.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And then I'm like, oh.

Speaker A:

I was like, oh.

Speaker A:

But then I could just, like, hack into the bunker and see all the files that are on that server because, you know, he's not protecting anyway, so he can't get into it because the WI FI isn't great.

Speaker A:

So Dean, like you said, is trying to make a teachable moment and give cast a blowdown about.

Speaker A:

About waitresses.

Speaker A:

And they start on this thing about the upside of waitresses is they always smell like food.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And Wally was into that too.

Speaker B:

And then they're all like, but, like.

Speaker B:

But Sam's like, that's a good thing.

Speaker B:

Like, wait, what?

Speaker B:

Yeah, I'm with you, Sam.

Speaker B:

A little bit.

Speaker B:

I'm sorry.

Speaker B:

No offense.

Speaker B:

Mandy the waitress.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And then Mary just has enough of their.

Speaker A:

It's enough.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

We are gonna go find this demon that.

Speaker B:

That's night fishing demon.

Speaker B:

That's what we're after is this night fishing.

Speaker A:

It looks like a lovely night fishing.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And apparently.

Speaker B:

And Wally's like, yeah, you know, I don't know.

Speaker B:

I'm not good with demons.

Speaker B:

If you've got a Rougarou, I'm in.

Speaker B:

But I found all these cattle mutilations and missing virgins, and Mary's got a plan.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

That.

Speaker A:

I did think this, this was a cute exchange that I wanted to know.

Speaker A:

So then they were talking about the.

Speaker A:

The catalyst signs.

Speaker A:

And Sam said it was classic demon signs.

Speaker A:

And then he noticed missing versions.

Speaker A:

And then Dean said that was classic horny demon sign.

Speaker A:

I thought that was really cute.

Speaker B:

Classic.

Speaker B:

Classic horny demons.

Speaker A:

Classic horny demon sign.

Speaker A:

Classy horny demon is the name of my next sex tape.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I couldn't go.

Speaker A:

That should be album or sex tape.

Speaker A:

But I, I, I think sex tape.

Speaker B:

I agree.

Speaker B:

I agree.

Speaker B:

So the waitress comes back, and Dean is really trying to set this, like, this flirt up with Cassiel.

Speaker B:

Wally's super nervous, though, about the whole plan.

Speaker B:

He's, like, kind of trying to, like, act like, you know, he's acting very concerned.

Speaker B:

And Mary's trying to reassure him.

Speaker B:

And we have Walk with a Winner by crescendos by Jean McDaniels at this point.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And our waitress is also into, like.

Speaker A:

Not only is she into cash, she's into being dirty.

Speaker A:

And so she's kind of like.

Speaker A:

We can kind of tell that she's a little.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So we start.

Speaker B:

All of a sudden, we cut.

Speaker B:

We cut.

Speaker A:

Mary says.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Mary tells him everything, tells Wally everything will be fine.

Speaker A:

And we immediately cut to things.

Speaker A:

Not fine.

Speaker B:

Not fine at all.

Speaker B:

Mary is basically half carrying a very injured Castiel, who is bleeding from his guts.

Speaker B:

And Wally is fighting a demon.

Speaker B:

Sam's fighting another demon and kills it.

Speaker B:

And then a demon kills Wally.

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker A:

So we already know the beginning of this, that Wally's not going to make it.

Speaker B:

He's not going to make it.

Speaker A:

So once again, someone has fallen to the Winchester curse.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

And don't go hunting with the Winchesters.

Speaker A:

And so she, now this demon also thinks she's going to be the one who killed Sam Winchester.

Speaker A:

But no.

Speaker A:

No, she's not.

Speaker A:

Because Dean kills her with the demon knife.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

And then we get another title card of the wounded angel.

Speaker B:

The Wounded angel.

Speaker B:

And we see Castiel sitting his pickup truck listening to a preacher on the radio.

Speaker B:

Sam and Dean pull up and.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And so it's just that it's earlier.

Speaker A:

Yeah, so it's earlier.

Speaker A:

And this is when you start going, oh, what?

Speaker B:

Time jumps.

Speaker B:

The time jump jumps are going to

Speaker A:

like make your brain.

Speaker A:

It made my brain a little melty and I get it.

Speaker A:

Like once you do the reservoir dog thing, it helps.

Speaker A:

It's cool.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it works.

Speaker B:

It's just like when you don't know that that's what's happening.

Speaker B:

It takes in.

Speaker B:

In a short format like this.

Speaker B:

It's a little bit.

Speaker B:

It's a lot.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

As a Jill.

Speaker A:

Just like, oh, okay.

Speaker A:

So we're now we're.

Speaker A:

We're now we're back.

Speaker A:

But we're later.

Speaker A:

We're earlier.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

And so Sam and Dean are meeting up with Mary and Wally Cash shows up because he's not busy.

Speaker A:

He hasn't had any luck with Kelly Klein and Lucifer's kid.

Speaker A:

And Wally is just like, what?

Speaker A:

That's a joke, right?

Speaker A:

And nobody's laughing because they're really doing this on the show.

Speaker A:

So that's something that is happening.

Speaker A:

Yes, it is a storyline.

Speaker A:

Then they all walk down the street with thematic music playing.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

It's a led by Dean saying, all right ramblers, let's get rambling.

Speaker B:

Which is always fun thing to have an excuse to say.

Speaker B:

So Mary's outlining the plan is what we next cut to.

Speaker B:

It's 8:45.

Speaker B:

The demon comes home and Sam and Dean will be waiting with devil's trap bullets and demon.

Speaker B:

And then Cass and Mary are gonna wait out back.

Speaker B:

And then Wally's gonna be lookout and his.

Speaker B:

His instructions are don't die

Speaker A:

directions.

Speaker A:

All right, so once again, Mary says everything is going to be fine.

Speaker A:

And we cut to.

Speaker A:

Things are actually open.

Speaker A:

They're sort of fine at this point.

Speaker A:

Ca outside watching while Sam spray paints a devil's trap under the carpet.

Speaker B:

But like Dean said, they're like loading his magazine there.

Speaker B:

Like why were you not prepared?

Speaker B:

Why are you sitting that, doing that there?

Speaker B:

It's just.

Speaker A:

Why are you waiting until now to load this magazine?

Speaker A:

And I just remembered that I have a full magazine in my purse I need to take out.

Speaker A:

So sometimes you just like this is what you load your stuff in advance, boys.

Speaker A:

It's what you do.

Speaker A:

So Cass comes in and Mary is coming from somewhere, right?

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

She comes in through a door and she says that she was in the restroom because she was nervous or something.

Speaker A:

She's nervous.

Speaker A:

And Cass is like, yeah, I understand about urination.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So Wally is calling back, calling Mary, because the demon is.

Speaker B:

Has returned from his fishing early.

Speaker B:

And we see feet walking and hear whistling.

Speaker B:

And so that's.

Speaker B:

That's our sign that our demon is returning, basically, is.

Speaker B:

Is the whistling and the walking.

Speaker A:

Why do so many demons whistle?

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

It's a good question.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

I just want to show off how lackadaisical they are.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

I'm just gonna show off that they can whistle because whistling's in the eye.

Speaker A:

Like, sometimes, like, hand does that.

Speaker A:

Well, I mean, I'm like, okay.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So Cass whips his blade down his arm.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

He's ready.

Speaker B:

And Mary's got her pistol.

Speaker B:

And Sam and Dean get ready.

Speaker B:

And the demon comes up the steps, whistling.

Speaker B:

And he opens the door and Dean just starts unloading in him, like, shooting him with all these.

Speaker B:

All the.

Speaker B:

The devil's trap bullets.

Speaker B:

And nothing happens.

Speaker B:

And he said he just keeps coming.

Speaker B:

He keeps walking and he kicks back the carpet, sees the devil trap, laughs at it.

Speaker B:

Basically, he's like, oh, hunters and dangerous.

Speaker B:

Unloads the magazine in him and.

Speaker B:

Nothing.

Speaker B:

He just keeps walking.

Speaker B:

Sam jumps in and stabs him with the demon knife.

Speaker B:

Nothing happens.

Speaker B:

And he gets thrown.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

It's just all very.

Speaker A:

And so it's all very ineffective.

Speaker A:

Nothing is working on this.

Speaker A:

And then he sees Cass and he gets really mad that there's an angel there.

Speaker B:

And then he sees Mary and says, hi, sweetheart.

Speaker B:

And his eyes flash yellow.

Speaker A:

Oh, we have a yellow eyes.

Speaker A:

Which is, like, very traumatic for Mary.

Speaker A:

Cass tackles him, though.

Speaker A:

And then outside, Wally comes running up to tell them that the demons are coming.

Speaker A:

The demons are coming.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So Castiel's thrown out a window.

Speaker B:

Sam and Dean go out front to help Wally with these demons.

Speaker B:

And they all start fighting the demons out front.

Speaker B:

But.

Speaker B:

And then the yellow eyed demon, our new one.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Who we learn is Ramiel.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Has cast in the backyard.

Speaker A:

He pulls a giant lance from his back.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And magical hidden lance of some kind.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

It's just like.

Speaker A:

He's like, just there in his coat pocket in his back.

Speaker A:

And he's just like, here's my giant lance.

Speaker A:

And then as Wally's dying now, Cass is getting stabbed in the ribs.

Speaker A:

And we're just like, this is not go.

Speaker A:

I'm very stressed out.

Speaker B:

It is very distressing.

Speaker B:

This whole sequence is very stressful.

Speaker A:

It's very stressful.

Speaker A:

And also the way they, you know, like, because of the back and forth.

Speaker A:

Like, you kind of get calm and you get stressed out again.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And he's like going after Cass with the lands until he gets hit by a car.

Speaker A:

But Mary's driving.

Speaker B:

Yeah, Mary just like wrecks him with.

Speaker B:

With her Jeep.

Speaker B:

It's pretty hilarious.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

But she loads Castiel in and like, drives him to like, this barn.

Speaker B:

And there he shares that he is unable to heal himself.

Speaker B:

So Sam and Dean call Mary and they're like, where are you?

Speaker B:

And she's like, hey, you need to find us because things are not okay.

Speaker A:

This is before we could drop a pen.

Speaker B:

Then we get a 9:05pm and Sam and Dean get to the barn and Mary asks about Wally.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And I think I also get annoyed when the time comes up and it's a linear time and it's not like, why are you telling.

Speaker B:

Like, we.

Speaker A:

We didn't change time.

Speaker A:

This is.

Speaker B:

I understand time is happening.

Speaker A:

This just happened.

Speaker B:

What the.

Speaker A:

Why are you telling me this now?

Speaker A:

Like, so now I'm like, wait, did we go backwards?

Speaker A:

I had to.

Speaker A:

Like, at least I had notes.

Speaker A:

Like, I can't like watching this in real time without notes.

Speaker B:

Right?

Speaker A:

So, okay, so they're at the barn and they tell Mary without telling her about.

Speaker A:

Wally is dead.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And then they realize that Cass is up, like, hurt.

Speaker B:

And so they look pretty freaked out.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, hey, mom, what.

Speaker B:

What is happening?

Speaker B:

And she's like, he has yellow eyes.

Speaker B:

And he's like, what did you get us into?

Speaker B:

hours ago,:

Speaker A:

so at least we're going backwards this time.

Speaker A:

But Mother Mary is also a reference to the lyric in the Beatles song Let It Be.

Speaker A:

And the username that Mary uses when she plays Words with Friends with Dean.

Speaker B:

It is.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So we've got our new yellow eyed demon.

Speaker B:

Ramiel walks out his front door.

Speaker B:

And Mary and Wally are doing surveillance on him.

Speaker B:

And Wally is like, look, why are we.

Speaker B:

What.

Speaker B:

What are we looking at watching this old dude for?

Speaker B:

Is he really like some big bad demon?

Speaker B:

And she's like, look, I called you because, you know, I, I.

Speaker B:

Because Sam and I can get Sam and Dean to help if you're involved.

Speaker B:

They Not.

Speaker B:

Not for me.

Speaker B:

They'll ask too many of the wrong questions if it's just for me.

Speaker B:

Super Sus.

Speaker B:

Mary.

Speaker B:

Super Sus.

Speaker B:

Super not cool Sus.

Speaker A:

So she's having Wally lie.

Speaker A:

And she's also been talking to the British Men of Letters.

Speaker A:

And she's got a file.

Speaker A:

And in the file There is some detailed stuff.

Speaker A:

There is a lake house plan in it.

Speaker A:

And Wally explains to her, but, yeah, I heard this sales pitch and I didn't buy it.

Speaker A:

And then we learned what she's been doing.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

He's like, yeah, it's too good to be true.

Speaker B:

And she's like, well, maybe, but, you know, they've taken me.

Speaker B:

Help me take out, you know, 12

Speaker A:

vamp nests, all these wolf packs, a dozen vamp nests.

Speaker A:

So, like, saying that vampires have at least, like.

Speaker A:

Think of how many vampires are in a nest.

Speaker A:

That's, like, killing, like, at least 60 vampires.

Speaker A:

Probably.

Speaker A:

Like, that's a lot of, like, machete headings.

Speaker A:

And I just.

Speaker A:

And then four werewolf packs and a ghoul.

Speaker A:

Like, that's a lot of murder.

Speaker B:

Or, you know, for Mary on her own.

Speaker A:

Yeah, that's a lot of destruction.

Speaker B:

It's a little wild.

Speaker B:

But she won't answer Wally when he asks if she trusts them, which I think is interesting.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Also, the ghoul was eating its way through Arlington, but it was unclear if that was Texas or Virginia.

Speaker B:

That's fair.

Speaker B:

I assume Virginia in my head for some reason.

Speaker B:

But you're right.

Speaker B:

It could be either one.

Speaker A:

It could be either one.

Speaker A:

All right, so she doesn't answer about trusting them.

Speaker A:

And we're gonna go back to the diner.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And that's where, you know, Wally's asking just generally all about the British Men of Letters.

Speaker B:

And Dean's like, yeah, they've got the good gear and all, but they tried to kill Sam and us.

Speaker B:

So, no.

Speaker A:

So, no, don't trust them.

Speaker A:

They set his feet on fire.

Speaker A:

I'm pretty.

Speaker A:

Once you set my feet on fire, I'm pretty much not gonna work with you.

Speaker A:

That's a deal.

Speaker B:

We're not friends.

Speaker B:

We're not friends.

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker B:

So 8:23pm and we.

Speaker A:

Everything is going to be fine because Mary says everything's gonna be fine.

Speaker A:

And once again, we're gonna go to where it's not gonna be fine.

Speaker A:

So 8:23pm they're coming up to Ramiel's house.

Speaker A:

And Cass says that it doesn't appear to be warded, which is interesting.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker B:

But.

Speaker B:

So inside they are inside, Sam talks to Mary, and he's like, look, are you okay?

Speaker B:

Like.

Speaker B:

Like, what's.

Speaker B:

What's happening?

Speaker B:

You know?

Speaker B:

And she's like, you know, he's like, you didn't even want to be a hunter.

Speaker B:

And she's like, yeah.

Speaker B:

Since when is life getting what you want?

Speaker A:

And that's just really kind of a bummer, Mary.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And then she goes off on her own while Sam makes our devil's trap.

Speaker A:

And now we find out where she went earlier.

Speaker A:

And it was not the bathroom.

Speaker A:

You do you.

Speaker A:

You use pee in a bad way.

Speaker A:

Mary, middle aged women shouldn't lie about peeing.

Speaker A:

Karma is going to bite you in the vag.

Speaker A:

All right, so she went to the.

Speaker A:

She went to the basement.

Speaker A:

Not the bathroom, which is fancy.

Speaker B:

This is a fancy ass basement.

Speaker B:

What the hell with a very painting.

Speaker B:

Epic paintings and all these really cool.

Speaker A:

Like I want to hang out this.

Speaker A:

This house.

Speaker A:

Honestly, I would like.

Speaker A:

I would like this house.

Speaker A:

It's got like a nice place to fish.

Speaker A:

Like, it seems pretty quiet.

Speaker A:

Like it seems like it's a cool place.

Speaker A:

But you.

Speaker A:

So we've got a safe.

Speaker A:

And so she's got this magic device to open it, which apparently she's gotten from British Men of Letters.

Speaker A:

And it's pretty cool.

Speaker A:

It's another little magic egg.

Speaker A:

They're really into magic eggs.

Speaker A:

And so but she takes out of the box.

Speaker A:

Takes the box out of the safe.

Speaker A:

And when she opens it, it glows.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And like anyways, but so she.

Speaker B:

Whatever it is, she wraps it up and she puts it in her.

Speaker A:

In her pants.

Speaker A:

And it's this thing that's magical and glowy and so probably radioactive.

Speaker A:

I'm just gonna shove it up my ass crack.

Speaker A:

That seems like a good place.

Speaker B:

I mean, they put guns there all the time.

Speaker B:

It's fine.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

This is how Mary gets rectal cancer.

Speaker B:

Oh no.

Speaker B:

Too soon.

Speaker A:

All right, so.

Speaker A:

So she.

Speaker A:

But she does put the box of the painting back.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And so we go back to the scene earlier where she's first lying about pain.

Speaker A:

And yeah, I get.

Speaker A:

I'm just upset about her pee karma.

Speaker B:

You're very upset about the p. Karma.

Speaker A:

I know like for somebody who had to have bladder surgery and very much respect the fact that women middle.

Speaker A:

Our bladders are not things to lie about.

Speaker A:

They are secret.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And I was like, so next time that she starts peeing when she sneezes, like whenever she shoots, she's gonna have to like pee just a little.

Speaker A:

From now on, she's gonna pull the trigger.

Speaker A:

And then when she gets a kickback, just a little dribble of pee.

Speaker A:

All right, so that happens.

Speaker A:

And then Cass gets stabbed.

Speaker B:

Yeah, we watched the scene.

Speaker B:

We watched the scene again about Ramiel not being injured.

Speaker B:

And then Cass gets stabbed.

Speaker B:

So 9:03pm okay, so 9:03pm we show Mary bandaging Cass at the barn.

Speaker B:

And she texts.

Speaker B:

She has a text chain named Hobbits.

Speaker A:

And she's really using.

Speaker A:

I know.

Speaker A:

Like, to advance.

Speaker A:

This is a full on smartphone.

Speaker A:

Yeah, she's using you.

Speaker A:

She's talking.

Speaker A:

She's using a screen to text.

Speaker A:

And she's just like, what the.

Speaker A:

What's this demon with the yellow eyes?

Speaker B:

And they're like, oopsies.

Speaker B:

Bad intel.

Speaker B:

He's gonna find you.

Speaker B:

Gotta go.

Speaker B:

Really?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Thanks, guys.

Speaker A:

Thanks.

Speaker A:

And Cass is just running me.

Speaker A:

And then the boys come in where Dean tells Cass he looks like hammered crap.

Speaker A:

And Cass is like, look at my veiny belly.

Speaker A:

Look at it.

Speaker B:

Is it veiny or does it look like it's shattering?

Speaker B:

I thought it looked like it was, like, stone cracking.

Speaker B:

It was real gross and weird.

Speaker B:

Either way, I don't know.

Speaker B:

It has weird black lines.

Speaker B:

That's all I know.

Speaker B:

And he's like, I think I'm dying.

Speaker B:

And Dean's like, nope, nope, nope.

Speaker B:

Not doing that.

Speaker B:

So he's like, hey, Sam, you've got to check this out.

Speaker B:

And then as they're doing that, we hear a voice

Speaker A:

call them idiots.

Speaker B:

Says, you're all going to die.

Speaker B:

And it's Crowley.

Speaker B:

Crowley's there.

Speaker A:

Oh, hi, Crowley.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And this is the first time that Mary and Crowley meet up.

Speaker A:

And it's very cordial and cute.

Speaker A:

And then Crowley wants to know what's up with feathers.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

But now we learn whose demons.

Speaker A:

Those words.

Speaker A:

And those were Crowley's demons.

Speaker A:

They're the ones who killed Wally.

Speaker B:

That's sad.

Speaker B:

And Mary's like, they killed my friend.

Speaker B:

And Crowley's like, well, your friend was stupid.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

Do you have any idea what you've done?

Speaker B:

You have pissed off Ramiel because.

Speaker B:

And Cass is like, I know that name.

Speaker B:

He's a prince of hell.

Speaker B:

And we're like, wait, what?

Speaker B:

Rot Row.

Speaker B:

And he's like, yeah, he's gonna kill all y'.

Speaker B:

All.

Speaker B:

And Cass, Like, I thought all the princes were dead.

Speaker B:

And they're.

Speaker B:

Apparently.

Speaker B:

They're the oldest of all demons after Lilith.

Speaker B:

And they were trained by Lucifer to be leaders of demons in armies.

Speaker B:

In the war against heaven.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And so this is.

Speaker A:

They were Azazel.

Speaker A:

So Azazel Old Ye.

Speaker A:

Was a prince of Hell.

Speaker A:

And they just made everybody think they were dead.

Speaker A:

And we get a flashback to six years ago, and we're like, oh, yeah.

Speaker A:

Six years ago, the show was still on.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

Because we're in season 12, so now we're getting a fun backstory of something that happened.

Speaker A:

This is.

Speaker A:

I do like this part of the episode.

Speaker A:

So we're going back in time to something in.

Speaker A:

In canon.

Speaker A:

And we're at Ramiel's house, and Crowley has showed up with a demon that we saw from earlier.

Speaker A:

And she's there, and she's holding a spear.

Speaker A:

And we get another card, and this card says Mr. Crowley.

Speaker B:

Mr. Crowley.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And he introduces himself as the King of the crossroads, and he's been.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it was before he was King of Hell.

Speaker B:

So he's been sent by Hell with a gift on behalf of all demons

Speaker A:

and also what the King of the Crossroads was.

Speaker A:

Is that just something that Crowley made up?

Speaker A:

Do you think there was ever, like, a king of the crossroads position?

Speaker B:

I'm sure he just made himself the head of the crossroads demons, and then he called himself a king of them.

Speaker B:

I know.

Speaker A:

I hadn't thought about that until I was just like, wait a minute.

Speaker A:

Like, where the hell the King of the Crossroads even come from?

Speaker A:

That's so funny.

Speaker A:

All right, so he's giving him his gifts.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And the gift from all the demons is the Lance of Michael the Archangel.

Speaker B:

And then also, he knows that this.

Speaker B:

That Ramiel is really into ancient and archaic weapons, so he gives him another little gift out of.

Speaker B:

That's the glowing thing in the box that we don't see.

Speaker B:

But.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker B:

But they're talking about the spear, how it kills the good ones, the bad ones fast, and the good ones slow and painful, which is ironic because it was made by an angel, and they're like, well, it was only made for one angel that Michael wanted to kill, so.

Speaker A:

And he wanted that son of a to suffer, so.

Speaker A:

And that implies Lucifer, so.

Speaker B:

Correct.

Speaker A:

And then he gives him his second gift, and it's a personal gift from Crowley, and apparently someone just left it laying about, and you should consider it your coronation present.

Speaker B:

And he's like, look, with Lilith and his azale, dad, you know, we need a ruler, and you're next in line.

Speaker B:

Tada.

Speaker B:

And he's like, yeah, I don't want it.

Speaker B:

I don't want it.

Speaker B:

You take it.

Speaker B:

You're ambitious and conniving and slimy.

Speaker B:

It's.

Speaker B:

It's yours.

Speaker B:

You should be king.

Speaker B:

And Crowley's like, you know, one dares to dream, but aren't there other princes?

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker B:

And Remiel's like, yeah, you know, Azazel was a fanatic.

Speaker B:

The rest of us stopped caring a long time ago.

Speaker B:

We've got hobbies or toys.

Speaker B:

We're happy.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So we learned there's another one named Asmodeus, and there's Dagon.

Speaker A:

And I'm not just saying, you know, maybe I'm spoiling some.

Speaker A:

Maybe you should know those names.

Speaker B:

Maybe.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

So there.

Speaker A:

And so.

Speaker A:

But they're.

Speaker A:

They were happy doing what they were doing.

Speaker A:

And so then like Crowley is being so.

Speaker A:

No, no, no, no, no.

Speaker A:

That the minion almost gets a chance at the throne.

Speaker A:

But then Crowley's like, no, I'll take it.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And what's the price?

Speaker B:

And Ramiel?

Speaker B:

The price is just to leave us alone.

Speaker B:

Leave the princess alone.

Speaker B:

And if anyone bothers a prince, it's on you, Crowley.

Speaker B:

And we'll be pissed.

Speaker A:

So that's why the demons were there.

Speaker A:

They were there to keep people away from Ramiel.

Speaker A:

And so now we know why.

Speaker A:

You know, they just were just hanging around.

Speaker A:

So Crowley then informs them that we're.

Speaker A:

So I think we're back.

Speaker A:

I'm looking at my.

Speaker A:

Yes, I think we're back.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So Crowley informs the boys and Mary that what Cass has got stabbed with and that it's Michael.

Speaker A:

As in Michael Michael.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And it kills everything.

Speaker B:

It.

Speaker B:

You know, it's going to kill him.

Speaker B:

That's all there is to it.

Speaker B:

And it's going to kill him slowly.

Speaker B:

He's going to rot away.

Speaker B:

That's it.

Speaker A:

And Dean's just like, there's always a cure.

Speaker A:

And Sam's on board because, duh, we took down the darkness and we took down the devil.

Speaker A:

And none of these things have ended well.

Speaker A:

Guys.

Speaker A:

All of those things have had really bad consequences that we're still dealing with.

Speaker A:

But anyhow.

Speaker A:

So Crowley says they don't have the time to learn to manage Ramiel.

Speaker A:

Dean yells a Help us or get the hell out of here.

Speaker A:

And Crowley's like, fine.

Speaker B:

And yeets out of there.

Speaker B:

Bye.

Speaker B:

So it's 9:07pm so it's only been a few minutes, I think, since our last card anyways.

Speaker B:

And we see Ramiel walking and whistling towards the barn they're in.

Speaker B:

So Sam spreading holy.

Speaker B:

There are artisanal holy oil.

Speaker B:

Mary's got an angel blade.

Speaker B:

Dean's got the magic knuckles courtesy of the British Men of Letters as he approaches.

Speaker B:

And we see Crowley intervene with Ramiel outside.

Speaker B:

And he's like, what can I do to keep you out of that barn?

Speaker B:

And he's like.

Speaker B:

And Ramiel's like, I smell that angel rotting.

Speaker B:

Are these people your friends?

Speaker B:

He's like.

Speaker B:

Crowley's like, I don't have friends.

Speaker B:

I make deals with people that I can use because I.

Speaker B:

Every kingdom needs allies.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker A:

And that they're an asset that he can't afford to lose.

Speaker A:

And Randall is just really mad that he broke the deal and he is just not interested in making another.

Speaker A:

And throws his ass into the barn.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

It throws him through the wall.

Speaker B:

And so we get another card for a real barn burner.

Speaker B:

And we've got.

Speaker B:

We cut back to Dean yelling at Crowley before he disappeared on them.

Speaker B:

And then it's 9:12pm and we see Cassiel struggling as the black marks or what?

Speaker B:

Or crackly marks or his veins or whatever the it is extend over him.

Speaker B:

And he's like, y' all should leave.

Speaker B:

And he gives.

Speaker B:

And so he gives a speech.

Speaker A:

It's very moving.

Speaker A:

And you're the best part of my life.

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker A:

You know, things have changed since you've changed him.

Speaker A:

You're my family and I love you.

Speaker A:

And it's very, very touching.

Speaker A:

And he wants them to not have his last moments being watched and die.

Speaker A:

But we don't leave family behind.

Speaker A:

And they call Mary over and their plan is just to hit him with everything they've got.

Speaker A:

First, he's in a ring of artisanal oil.

Speaker B:

Sure.

Speaker B:

And Sam.

Speaker B:

Because Sam drops the lighter as.

Speaker B:

As Ramiel enters.

Speaker B:

We fast flash forward a little bit.

Speaker B:

And it circles Ramiel.

Speaker B:

And he thinks it's funny.

Speaker A:

He gives.

Speaker A:

No.

Speaker A:

He is the honey badger of Princes of Hell.

Speaker A:

He does not care about Lucifer's babies.

Speaker A:

But he does make an interesting side note that Dagon has taken an interest in that.

Speaker A:

Like, that's an interesting thing that you said.

Speaker A:

But he just wanted to be left alone.

Speaker A:

And then you come and steal from me.

Speaker A:

And that.

Speaker A:

I can't abide what you stole.

Speaker A:

What?

Speaker A:

And he pulls.

Speaker A:

And he pulls out this pocket watch.

Speaker A:

It's really cool.

Speaker A:

And he's like.

Speaker A:

He got 30 seconds.

Speaker B:

Click.

Speaker A:

And I'm like, what the hell is this watch?

Speaker A:

I want it.

Speaker A:

And puts it in his 30.

Speaker A:

30 seconds.

Speaker A:

Start to give him back what's his.

Speaker A:

And team's just like, what?

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

He's like, what?

Speaker B:

I have no idea.

Speaker B:

And time ends on that because Mary does not confess to stealing.

Speaker B:

And so Romiel pulls out his giant lance again.

Speaker A:

And it puts out the fire as he smacks it in the ground and causes a small earthquake.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker A:

And he's gonna beat him with a stick.

Speaker A:

And Dean's gonna be like, I've got a shovel.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

There's a big fight.

Speaker B:

It's a pretty impressive fight scene.

Speaker B:

But somehow Sam gets the lance in this fight scene and stabs Ramiel.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker B:

And at first, nothing happens.

Speaker B:

And we're all like, oh, no, nothing happens.

Speaker A:

And Cass is vomiting up his insides.

Speaker A:

It's not good.

Speaker B:

It's not gonna be vomiting black.

Speaker B:

Gross.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

But then Crowley picks up the lance and he remembers what Ramiel was saying about the rune work on it.

Speaker A:

And he breaks the lance in half.

Speaker A:

And a light glows.

Speaker A:

And Cass is saved because the magic is in the craftsmanship.

Speaker A:

Then Crowley drops the lance and with the you're welcome.

Speaker A:

And he's.

Speaker A:

Again.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So Sam, Andina helped Castiel up, and everybody's just, like, shocked that he's like, perfectly.

Speaker B:

He's like, not just like, oh, he's not dying.

Speaker B:

He's, like, fully healed, back to full, normal, healthy Cassiel and his.

Speaker B:

But Cassiel is asking the question we're all asking, which is, what did Ramiel mean about someone stealing from him?

Speaker B:

Mary.

Speaker A:

Mary, you look shifty there.

Speaker A:

Mary, what's going on?

Speaker B:

So sus.

Speaker B:

And Dude's like, oh, whenever he's crazy, blur.

Speaker B:

But no, I'm like, why are you being giving this a pass?

Speaker B:

Sixteen.

Speaker B:

Come on now.

Speaker A:

I'm just very impressed that they took the parts of the lance with them and didn't leave them there.

Speaker B:

That's true.

Speaker B:

Very, very true.

Speaker B:

So we get another card.

Speaker B:

One last thing.

Speaker B:

And we see we're back to.

Speaker A:

Yeah, we're back to Mr. Ketch.

Speaker A:

And we're back to British Men of Letters.

Speaker A:

So one last thing.

Speaker A:

One last thing about British Minnow Letters.

Speaker A:

And so we're gonna do some lore.

Speaker A:

One last thing about before we get to the Order of the Golden Dawn.

Speaker A:

And I promise we will get to that damn secret society.

Speaker A:

We really will.

Speaker A:

But I've got to talk about another secret society before we get to that secret society.

Speaker A:

So this lore is about the Rosicrucians.

Speaker A:

Have you ever heard of the Rosicrucians?

Speaker A:

Yeah, they.

Speaker B:

They're.

Speaker A:

They.

Speaker A:

They could be running our government, probably.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

sicrucians all started in the:

Speaker A:

And once again, you know, as I. I'm going to give you the breakdown as best I understand this group and.

Speaker A:

And how they're made up and.

Speaker A:

Because they are going to influence the Order of the golden dawn.

Speaker A:

And they do have a lot of.

Speaker A:

They're still around.

Speaker A:

There's.

Speaker A:

You know, they do have.

Speaker A:

They have influenced things, but still it's people dressing up and clothes in outfits, doing rituals, and there wasn't as much scandal as I hoped there was going to be.

Speaker A:

But also make this as interesting as possible because it's all secret society.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker A:

yeah, they all started in the:

Speaker A:

The first, in:

Speaker A:

So the fame of the Brotherhood of the Rosy Cross came out after being circulated among German occultists for a few years.

Speaker A:

In it is the story of a 14th century orphan named Father CRC, like the initials, who at the age of 60 16, after first being raised in a monastery, traveled to the Middle east and North Africa and studied esoteric knowledge including physics, mathematics, magic and Kabbalah.

Speaker A:

Upon his return to Germany, he founded the Fraternity of the Rosy Cross to share this knowledge with only eight members.

Speaker A:

Initially, all of these men were unmarried and virgins.

Speaker A:

I think the virginity was coincidental and not conditional, but they weren't clear on that.

Speaker A:

The fraternity members were sent on missions worldwide after taking an oath to be healers who never requested payment for services, wore no uniform or habit, and met once a year at the Spiritus Sanctus.

Speaker A:

Each member was to look for their successor.

Speaker A:

Also, they vowed that nobody talk about the Rosy Cross for a hundred years.

Speaker A:

The discovery of CRC's tomb, complete with a perfectly preserved corpse, heralded the need to publish the manifesto.

Speaker A:

COC's tomb is thoroughly described, overly described, including that it had seven sides divided into three parts.

Speaker A:

And how was filled with treasures like bells, lamps and artificial songs.

Speaker A:

I'm not sure what artificial songs are.

Speaker A:

They remind me of fake books, but I don't think that's what they meant.

Speaker A:

So the book suggests that the fraternity is seeking like minded individuals to join.

Speaker A:

Nobody claims authorship to this pamphlet.

Speaker A:

In:

Speaker A:

This is the Confessio Fratitum Nautatis, the Confession of the Brotherhood or the Confession of the Laudable Fraternity of the Most Honorable Order of the Rosy Cross.

Speaker A:

That came out to clear up the confusion the first one caused.

Speaker A:

And it emphasized that the order is Christian and that the members who joined would learn valuable secrets.

Speaker A:

It also foretold a reformation to bring the land to an enlightenment and state.

Speaker A:

It furthered the public's interest in the secret society and inspired many numerous printed responses.

Speaker A:

Some who took the manifestos literally and others who understood them to be allegorical.

Speaker A:

In:

Speaker A:

This may be:

Speaker A:

Take one of the two:

Speaker A:

All.

Speaker B:

All right.

Speaker B:

Early:

Speaker A:

Early:

Speaker A:

Published.

Speaker A:

And this was the Chemical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreuz.

Speaker A:

Sometimes spelled many different ways, but really means Rose Cross.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

And so this is where we first get really.

Speaker A:

The Rosencrucian comes from Rosenkreuz or from.

Speaker A:

From this guy.

Speaker A:

And that's what the CRC supposedly stood for.

Speaker A:

But the Chemical Wedding, that wedding is a metaphor for alchemy, which is a metaphor for spiritual enlightenment.

Speaker A:

So just to be extra annoying, it's not even Christian Rosenkreuz's wedding.

Speaker A:

He's just a guest.

Speaker A:

It's a king and a queen in a castle with a cool vault, and they're the ones who are getting married.

Speaker A:

And the purpose of this book may have been to show that the other two manifestos were just metaphors and there was never really a secret brotherhood.

Speaker A:

But some people took it literally.

Speaker A:

And nobody still claimed authorship of it.

Speaker A:

Most likely the authors.

Speaker A:

The author or authors were Lutheran ministers.

Speaker A:

And it may have been written as a parody or as a joke, but it's something that was, you know, took off.

Speaker A:

But the time that it's written is during the.

Speaker A:

The Reformation.

Speaker A:

During the Lutheran Reformation.

Speaker A:

So it makes sense that this would be an allegory for.

Speaker A:

Because really, the idea behind both of them is, like, about this guy who's trying to find his inner light.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

And so these documents would come together to be basis for many Rosicrucian organizations, though the original one probably never really existed.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker A:

That was just a metaphor.

Speaker A:

So the manifestos would make their way over to England, where they would be absorbed by those who were practicing Freemasonry, which was becoming popular at the time, according to Allison Butler, author of Victorian Occultism and the Making of Modern Magic, Elias Ashmole.

Speaker A:

Sorry, I have to say it that way.

Speaker A:

His name is Ashmole.

Speaker A:

known Masonic initiations in:

Speaker A:

I don't know who he sent it to, but he did was like, I'm gonna copy these and hopefully get joined into.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker B:

Is that the name of the files in the history of History of Witches?

Speaker B:

Anyways, the Ashmo files, Ashmole thing.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Wasn't that it?

Speaker B:

Anyways?

Speaker A:

Yes, pretty sure.

Speaker A:

So, all right.

Speaker A:

So in the:

Speaker A:

And candidates, though, for that one were expected to be master Masons in good standing with their lodge.

Speaker A:

So you had to be a Mason to join this, which also means you could only be a dude because chicks can't be Masons, because.

Speaker A:

Right, whatever.

Speaker A:

So alchemy was to be central study for members who wanted to be a member of this.

Speaker A:

And it's all about finding that inner light.

Speaker A:

The order developed elaborate rituals and established a grade system for its members.

Speaker A:

This will be important for golden dawn later.

Speaker A:

So the higher the grade, the more senior and more adept in the order you were.

Speaker A:

And their first grade was juniors.

Speaker A:

And the highest grade, grade nine, was a magus.

Speaker A:

And that's something that we'll hear over and over again.

Speaker A:

And we have it in this show too.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

We'll have Albert Mages being one of the Men of Letters.

Speaker A:

So that's just a popular name for a master.

Speaker A:

So in:

Speaker A:

first American council was in:

Speaker A:

They believe that a soul can form a direct link between the individual and God.

Speaker A:

And they call the state of spiritual development soul consciousness, or soul illumination.

Speaker A:

And illumination of the soul is symbolized by the fully bloomed rose in the center of the cross of transmutation, aka the Rosy Cross.

Speaker A:

Yeah, in:

Speaker A:

This is going to be an important one for the Golden Dawn.

Speaker A:

The Societas Rosus Cruciana was founded by the Freemason Robert Whitworth Little, who said he took the grain structure for members from the old rites from the Order of the Rosy Cross he discovered in the store rooms of Freemasons Hall.

Speaker A:

So they are open to only master masons of a Grand Lodge, also excluding women.

Speaker A:

And they had to declare a belief in the fundamental Trinitarian Christian faith.

Speaker A:

They first met quarterly, where they would dress up, have rituals and do lectures on esoteric topics.

Speaker A:

Now they're divided into three orders, and the first order meets in a college.

Speaker A:

A college can confer the first four degrees of the society, which are known as grades.

Speaker A:

And there's you there.

Speaker A:

You have to do each grade for a minimum of six months before you can move on.

Speaker A:

And the emphasis in the work is.

Speaker A:

Is learning.

Speaker A:

So every member is encouraged to develop, deliver a paper of their own work on some topic of interest in open college.

Speaker A:

So, nerds, these are a bunch of nerds that are meeting together to talk about nerdy stuff.

Speaker A:

Now, their grades.

Speaker A:

So I like their grades.

Speaker A:

To me, the first one's a zealot.

Speaker A:

They sound like dinosaurs.

Speaker A:

So grade one is a zealoter, Grade two is a therapist.

Speaker A:

Grade two is a practicus.

Speaker A:

And grade four is a philosophist.

Speaker A:

And they do.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

All right, so they have a first order, they have a second order.

Speaker A:

And that's like another grouping of it.

Speaker A:

That's a provincial level.

Speaker A:

And so they're headed by a chief adept.

Speaker A:

And he is.

Speaker A:

And his.

Speaker A:

They're.

Speaker A:

They hold the jurisdiction over those first colleges.

Speaker A:

He can confer the first three degrees, like below them.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

So you have to.

Speaker A:

The higher people upload.

Speaker A:

You know how it goes.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And once you get to that level, you have to wait one year between moving up.

Speaker A:

So they're trying to slow.

Speaker A:

Slow people down from moving up too fast.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

So in six months.

Speaker A:

Six or six months.

Speaker A:

Then one year.

Speaker A:

One year, one year.

Speaker A:

Then you can finally become.

Speaker A:

I forget how many years it takes.

Speaker A:

But then you become a Supreme Magist.

Speaker A:

And that's the high.

Speaker A:

That's grade nine.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

I thought maybe their outfits would be interesting.

Speaker A:

But no.

Speaker A:

The first order wear a jewel medal hanging on a green ribbon.

Speaker A:

And the ribbon changes the yellow for fraternity.

Speaker A:

Within the second order, when they become a celebrant, they wear a red robe and then they continue to wear a red robe.

Speaker A:

It's not that meh.

Speaker B:

You know.

Speaker A:

So lodges now exist in England, Scotland, Canada, France, Portugal, Romania, Ireland, United States.

Speaker A:

They're still taking members, but you still have to be a member of a mouth.

Speaker A:

You have to be a master Mason and believe in this stuff.

Speaker A:

You have to read a book called Rosicrucian Masonic Spirituality.

Speaker A:

Order of the Rosy Crossy Temple.

Speaker A:

Rosy Cross Temple and the Lodge de Parfait Cose.

Speaker A:

My God, that title is still going.

Speaker A:

It's still going.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

1764America's Secret Rose Croy Lodge and their Spiritual Metaphysics by Magnus Incognito.

Speaker A:

Jesus Christ.

Speaker A:

I think they talk about him in there too.

Speaker A:

So it's available through Lulu.com for only 14.13.

Speaker A:

There is also the societies Rosicrucian in America.

Speaker A:

The S I R S R I A and they take both men and women and you don't have to believe belong to anything else.

Speaker A:

There is also the Amor.

Speaker A:

Now this is the largest Rosicrucian order currently in existence.

Speaker A:

AMORC stands for Ancient and Mystical Order of the Rosae Crucis.

Speaker A:

They are a worldwide order of mystics.

Speaker A:

They say that the Rosicrucian path incorporates both metaphysics and mysticism.

Speaker A:

Metaphysics is that which falls beyond the five physical senses, for example, intuition, visualization and healing techniques.

Speaker A:

Mysticism is simply the process by which you may eventually experience direct conscious union with the absolute divine mind, universal intelligence, or what some Rosicrucia students call the God of their hearts.

Speaker A:

So to join this one, you don't have to believe in a God.

Speaker A:

You just have to kind of believe in, like, an inner thing.

Speaker A:

And you also need to buy their stuff.

Speaker A:

So a morgue is 150 paid annually or US$15 paid monthly.

Speaker A:

And that includes four new monographs each month, as well as participation in many Rosicrucian activities.

Speaker A:

hey have enough funds that in:

Speaker A:

And then he left, informed his own order.

Speaker A:

Good on you, Gary.

Speaker A:

That's a way to start a cult.

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker A:

You know, I'm always like, all right, I appreciate the fact that.

Speaker A:

That you didn't go to prison.

Speaker A:

You just started another order.

Speaker A:

So at least I found some scandal.

Speaker B:

So there you go.

Speaker B:

So Rosicruc.

Speaker B:

The word Rosicrucian makes me want shellfish.

Speaker A:

Kinda.

Speaker B:

I think of crustaceans.

Speaker A:

For some reason, I could see that

Speaker B:

that's where my brain goes.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So no offense to the Rosicrucian.

Speaker B:

Sorry.

Speaker A:

You never know if you may meet one.

Speaker A:

There's a lot of them, and I mean, they just seem like they're interested in.

Speaker A:

They seem fine.

Speaker A:

They.

Speaker B:

They.

Speaker B:

They.

Speaker B:

They're Masons.

Speaker B:

It's fine.

Speaker A:

No, no.

Speaker A:

The.

Speaker A:

The last one.

Speaker A:

So happy.

Speaker A:

The last one A more.

Speaker A:

You can join a morgue and not be a Mason, and you can join the American Society of Rosa Cruciana and not be a Mason.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

And you.

Speaker A:

So you can be.

Speaker A:

So either we can join those.

Speaker A:

We can't join the other ones.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

So they may or may not be a Mason.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So my grand.

Speaker A:

I mean, if they would ever let women in.

Speaker A:

I'm a legacy Mason.

Speaker A:

But, I mean, I don't want to join.

Speaker A:

I don't want to join your club.

Speaker A:

You don't take me.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

So back to our other club, our other club of men, our British Men of letters.

Speaker A:

And Mary is pissed off at them.

Speaker A:

So mad.

Speaker B:

Yeah, she's mad.

Speaker B:

She's like, you sent me after a damn princess, a demon prince of hell.

Speaker B:

Like, what the.

Speaker B:

And he's like, we didn't know.

Speaker B:

You know, we just knew that he had the item.

Speaker B:

And she's like, that's not good enough.

Speaker B:

I lost a friend, and I almost lost one of my boys.

Speaker B:

Interesting way she phrased that.

Speaker B:

And he's like, look, I'm apologizing.

Speaker B:

And she's like, no, if you do anything like that again, I'm gonna burn you down.

Speaker B:

I'm gonna burn down all of you.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

And he's like, is that a threat?

Speaker B:

And she's like, no, it's a promise.

Speaker B:

Because.

Speaker A:

Oh, burn.

Speaker B:

He's like, look, we made a mistake.

Speaker B:

I'm sorry.

Speaker B:

But give me that item until she gives it to him.

Speaker B:

What the fuck did we.

Speaker B:

What did Mary steal?

Speaker A:

And he hands it over and he says, hello, beautiful.

Speaker A:

Which are the first words that Dean said when he first saw the cult.

Speaker B:

That.

Speaker B:

That gun.

Speaker B:

It's back.

Speaker A:

It's back.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker A:

But the thing is, like, now we're.

Speaker A:

This is.

Speaker A:

So Mary knows it because her dad used.

Speaker A:

Because Samue used to tell her stories about it.

Speaker A:

So she doesn't even know.

Speaker A:

Like.

Speaker A:

And maybe she has through.

Speaker A:

No, through John's diary.

Speaker A:

Like, so the.

Speaker A:

The John's diary has got to talk about something of the cult.

Speaker A:

But she doesn't know about Dean and Sam's relationship with it.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker A:

But I don't.

Speaker A:

Like, what does she know about the cult?

Speaker A:

You know?

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker A:

So I don't know.

Speaker A:

So my brain kind of breaks on that one because they had to have caught her up on some of it.

Speaker A:

But Catch knows all about it.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And he's just real happy with his precious.

Speaker B:

Anyways, so we cut to Crowley's lair, and he is on the phone talking to a demon, saying, search the house again.

Speaker B:

Find that gun.

Speaker B:

So he is sending.

Speaker B:

He's got demons trying to find where the cult is and pours himself a drink.

Speaker B:

And we realized that in the cage in the office where Lucifer had kept Crowley, Lucifer is now in the.

Speaker B:

In there.

Speaker B:

We found Lucifer.

Speaker A:

We found Lucifer.

Speaker A:

And

Speaker B:

he's singing about the cult.

Speaker B:

And he refers to Salmon Dean as the Dukes of Haphazard, which I wasn't used by.

Speaker B:

But he's also like.

Speaker B:

He's like, do you even think they care about you?

Speaker B:

They'll kill your kind.

Speaker B:

And it's only a matter of time before they come for you.

Speaker B:

And Crowley just tells him to shut

Speaker A:

up and calls him and calls him Dog.

Speaker A:

And he's like, that's not my name.

Speaker B:

His eyes flash red.

Speaker A:

Call me Stacy, but yeah.

Speaker A:

And his eyes glow red.

Speaker A:

And some people have glowing eyes in this, but.

Speaker A:

Crowley, what you doing?

Speaker A:

That's not smart.

Speaker A:

You know, it never ends well for you, sir.

Speaker B:

But.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Do we.

Speaker A:

Can we.

Speaker A:

Do we have demons to talk about?

Speaker B:

Casting couch.

Speaker C:

It's the casting couch.

Speaker C:

Were they on that show that time with that guy?

Speaker C:

La la la, la, la, la.

Speaker B:

Yeah, we got a couple real fast.

Speaker B:

We've got Ramiel, who's Played by Jerry Trimble.

Speaker B:

He's actually did stunt work in the movie War of the Worlds and A Season of the Witch, but has been episodes of shows like Unsolved mysteries, the Flash, iZombie, Travelers, and Kung Fu.

Speaker B:

He was the Knox thug in Charlie's angels in.

Speaker B:

In:

Speaker B:

He was a gang member in Green Street Hooligans 2.

Speaker B:

He was a gang member again in the Green Hornet.

Speaker B:

er named Schwartz in the film:

Speaker B:

Ronnie is our Damon that we see with Crowley.

Speaker B:

The.

Speaker B:

The woman with the long dark hair is played by Jennifer Chion Garcia.

Speaker B:

She's been in episodes of Fringe, Arrow, Once Upon a Time Travelers, Lucifer, Bates Motel, and Batwoman.

Speaker B:

lynch woman in the a team in:

Speaker B:

She was a character named Andromeda in this series.

Speaker B:

Minority Report is a reoccurring character.

Speaker B:

She was a the central tower tech in the film Star Trek beyond the newer one.

Speaker B:

And then she was Ivory in Van Helsing.

Speaker B:

Was a regular character on that.

Speaker B:

And Leanne in the series Wheel of Time.

Speaker B:

Time.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And we didn't really.

Speaker B:

They didn't really give us her name in the show, but the character's name was technically Ronnie.

Speaker B:

Yeah, there you go.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker A:

Well, she should have had a name.

Speaker A:

I mean, she almost became Princess of Hell.

Speaker B:

Right?

Speaker A:

I guess.

Speaker B:

Queen of Hell.

Speaker A:

I mean, just by.

Speaker A:

Just by.

Speaker A:

Just by default.

Speaker B:

Time.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

This takes.

Speaker A:

The storyline takes a whole different curve when, like, what happens with, like, this is when Ronnie became Queen of Hell.

Speaker B:

Right?

Speaker A:

Queen.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna vote for Queen.

Speaker B:

Queen Ronnie.

Speaker B:

Queen Ronnie.

Speaker A:

So what do you think?

Speaker B:

So I thought it was hard to watch and take notes for, but it was enjoyable to watch.

Speaker B:

Does that make sense?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Like, it's hard to go back and re.

Speaker B:

Explain, but I thought it was enjoyable once you got your head wrapped around what was happening.

Speaker B:

But also, like, I don't like Mary right now.

Speaker A:

She's not being a good person.

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker B:

And I just don't like her right now.

Speaker B:

And I'm sad about Wally.

Speaker B:

I was starting to like him.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I always sad when, like, people die from the Winchester curse.

Speaker A:

It's like, let's let him live.

Speaker B:

Come on.

Speaker A:

Let the hunter live.

Speaker A:

Let the hunter live.

Speaker A:

Let the hunter live.

Speaker A:

That's my protest sign.

Speaker B:

There you go.

Speaker B:

I just.

Speaker B:

I just didn't like Mary Is very frustrating as a character right now.

Speaker B:

That's what I got.

Speaker A:

She's frustrating.

Speaker A:

It's so hard to talk about this without spoiling.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

She's frustrating.

Speaker A:

I feel like Sam and Dean had.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Were ignoring some things on purpose, you know, like, so I feel like that's just because they're like such a back seat character in this episode.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

They're just along for the ride this time.

Speaker B:

They're not really even like the mains.

Speaker B:

It's her and honestly cast kind of our bigger characters and then Crowley and of course Ramiel.

Speaker A:

That's.

Speaker B:

That's the main people here.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

But I mean, just kind of like their take on.

Speaker A:

And their interaction with her too.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

Like, so we're meeting back up with Mary and we're teaming up, but they're still not being very parental and like they're like.

Speaker B:

You know what I mean?

Speaker A:

Like it's not.

Speaker A:

Not very familial.

Speaker A:

How's that?

Speaker A:

Not at all.

Speaker B:

Not at all.

Speaker A:

They're being very businessy.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I would agree.

Speaker B:

So that's weird.

Speaker B:

Weird.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

But we are:

Speaker A:

So we're like halfway through the season.

Speaker B:

Yeehaw.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker B:

Yep.

Speaker B:

Anything else?

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker B:

All right.

Speaker B:

All right.

Speaker A:

Too shirt too.
