On this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.
Speaker A:It's a spider horse in a fancy.
Speaker B:Suit, and Gabriel is going to kill Loki.
Speaker B:Let's do this.
Speaker B:Welcome to this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.
Speaker B:I'm Diana.
Speaker A:I'm Liz.
Speaker B:And this week we're going to talk about season 13, episode 20, unfinished business.
Speaker A:Yeah, nothing catchy about that one.
Speaker A:I mean, I do have.
Speaker A:I guess if you have unfinished business, that's how you become a ghost.
Speaker B:That's true.
Speaker A:So you would think this would be about a ghost episode, but it's not.
Speaker B:There's no.
Speaker A:There's no ghosts.
Speaker B:No ghosts.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:What have you been up to with your cool hair?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So I am playing with costumes and things to.
Speaker A:For different thing I want to say different things that adult people should do.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:I've got a couple of performance and some photo shoot things coming up, like Halloween type things.
Speaker A:So I've got mermaid hair in because I'm trying to figure out if I want to be a mermaid or a sea witch or a Merwich with some comet siren or.
Speaker A:I didn't get the prosthetics for the siren costume, although I could make them, but, you know, like the gills or like, there were some really cool barnacles that I think would be really cool for a sea witch costume.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:But I may be less.
Speaker A:That may not be the aesthetic I'm going for for these photos of me hanging from an aerial anchor.
Speaker A:But I've also been working on trying to light up different aerial apparatuses with LED lights and trying to figure out how to, like, oh, if I put this on a hoop, where can I put a battery pack so I don't kick it while I'm spinning around it?
Speaker A:All sorts of fun things to think about.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:So that's what I've been up to.
Speaker A:What about you?
Speaker B:I've been working a lot.
Speaker B:What else have I been doing?
Speaker B:I feel like I did something.
Speaker B:Oh, I went to a show.
Speaker B:I went and saw Mariachi Bronx, and they were great, as expected.
Speaker B:And saw a really cool Texas artist open for them called Max Diaz.
Speaker B:And it was a really fun show.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker B:And as much as I really, really, really like Max Diaz, like, I bought a T shirt.
Speaker A:You know what I mean?
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker B:That's always the sign that you really like something.
Speaker B:But he calls his music cow punk, and it is not cow punk.
Speaker B:And I feel like he's young and thinks that he created cow punk.
Speaker B:And I let it slide because I liked him.
Speaker B:That Much.
Speaker B:But cow punk's been around for a long time, and it's a very distinct genre.
Speaker B:That's all I'll say about that.
Speaker B:But either way.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So, yeah, other than that, just been keeping busy always.
Speaker B:Hopefully not forever, but.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So excited to talk about this forever.
Speaker B:I want to be busy forever, but not like I am right now.
Speaker B:It's stupid now.
Speaker B:It's not.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker B:It's not fun busy right now.
Speaker B:It's stupid busy.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:I will say they released In Supernatural Land.
Speaker A:They.
Speaker A:They released a trailer for Jared's movie.
Speaker A:So you can see him as his bodyguard.
Speaker A:Bodyguarded celebrity self.
Speaker A:Because he's not the bodyguard.
Speaker A:He's right.
Speaker A:He's the one being guarded.
Speaker A:So actually, it looks pretty amusing.
Speaker A:I'm kind of looking forward to it.
Speaker A:It looks like a good.
Speaker A:It looks like a fun romp.
Speaker B:Fun romp.
Speaker A:Fun romp.
Speaker B:I love that.
Speaker B:Yeah, I saw a couple of teasers for it, so it looks fun.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:All right, so let's talk about unfinished business.
Speaker A:So this was season 13.
Speaker A:Speaking of, you know, transition somehow.
Speaker A:So season 13, episode 20.
Speaker A: ,: Speaker A:It was directed by a friend of the pod, Richard Spade Jr.
Speaker A:This season, he's actually done quite a few.
Speaker A:He did Devil's Bargain.
Speaker A:He did the thing, and he did bring him back alive.
Speaker A:And it was written by Meredith Glenn.
Speaker A:And the season.
Speaker A:She did the Big Empty, the Scorpion and the Frog, and Good Intentions.
Speaker A:Then we start off with our recap, and we've got Gabriel.
Speaker A:And you can't take the trick out of the trickster, including that time that the boys got sucked into a television.
Speaker A:Then, like, the best episode ever, they leave some Fields Motel episode.
Speaker A:Then a reminder about Casa Erotica 13.
Speaker A:Then that time that Asmodeus broke Gabriel.
Speaker A:Then Gabriel said no, and Dean gave a son of a.
Speaker A:And that's where we go.
Speaker A:And then we go to a liquor sign.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And we're at.
Speaker B:Outside of a liquor store, like, on kind of in an alley in Central City, Colorado, and this dude is just strolling down, drinking from a bottle outside a liquor store.
Speaker B:That's frowned upon generally, but okay.
Speaker A:He's also drinking a disturbing amount of alcohol out of said liquor bottle because it's.
Speaker A:It's not like a.
Speaker A:Does not look like a Boone's bear.
Speaker A:What is that?
Speaker B:Spoons Farm?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:You know, or, you know, this looks like straight liquor, and he is just guzzling it, which makes my liver and my.
Speaker A:My throat and everything just hurt.
Speaker A:Makes me want to kind of throw up a Little bit.
Speaker B:And Gabriel appears, and he is playing.
Speaker B:He's wearing a suit and playing a kazoo.
Speaker B:Playing a very dramatic theme on the kazoo.
Speaker B:And he calls out to Fenrir Odensbane.
Speaker B:And so the guy that's walked, Fenrir, the guy that's walking down the hallway, finishes his booze and, like, he flashes, like, a glowy wolf face.
Speaker A:Yeah, it was just pretty cool.
Speaker B:It's really cool again.
Speaker B:But I was like, I don't know what to call this.
Speaker B:It's a glowy face.
Speaker A:It's, like a little green, like, wolf face.
Speaker A:And Gabriel shows, and he's got, like, this wooden sword.
Speaker A:I'm like, thank God it's finally not a angel plane.
Speaker B:Well, that.
Speaker B:Yeah, fair.
Speaker B:Been a lot of angel blade action.
Speaker A:It has.
Speaker A:But I'm just glad this is something different.
Speaker A:So, yeah, so we get the cool wolf face, and they prepare to fight.
Speaker A:And Fenrir grows fangs, too.
Speaker A:And we realize then that we are in a Tarantino movie, apparently.
Speaker B:Yes, it's very, very much so.
Speaker B:We get the horn and horns and funk music and a full fight.
Speaker B:And what's interesting, though, is Fenrir.
Speaker B:During the fight, Fenrir slashes at Gabriel's hand, and he comments that an archangel shouldn't bleed.
Speaker B:But Gabriel is definitely bleeding.
Speaker B:This is our sign going in that Gabriel's not back to full strength.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:But Gabriel manages to stab and kill Fenrir and pulls a piece of paper out of his pocket and uses his blood to mark Fenrir's name off of his list.
Speaker A:Off of his.
Speaker A:So now we've got a kill list here, right?
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker A:And which I always just think are funny, because I always just imagine somebody like, how could.
Speaker A:Aren't you done being mad after you write the list?
Speaker A:Because, like, by that point.
Speaker A:Because I feel like that gets most of the feelings out.
Speaker A:And then you're like, okay, I'm done.
Speaker A:You know?
Speaker A:Yeah, I don't need to go.
Speaker A:But apparently not.
Speaker A:Not in this case.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:So after he.
Speaker A:He does this kill list, we go to a motel.
Speaker A:We're not in the bunker of this episode.
Speaker A:We're on the road, which is kind of.
Speaker A:It's kind of a nice change for where we're going back and forth.
Speaker B:And Sam is unpacking into, like, the dresser and closet at this motel.
Speaker B:And because he thinks they could be there for several days.
Speaker B:And Dean is like, why the hell are you unpacking?
Speaker B:This is stupid.
Speaker B:But he was talking to Castiel on the phone and who is trying to.
Speaker B:They're trying to Use Rowena's spell to track Gabriel and Castiel's on mission to Amarillo because that was one potential location.
Speaker B:And they're in.
Speaker B:In the city.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:But they've been following leads for two weeks.
Speaker B:And Dean is getting very impatient and cranky about the whole thing.
Speaker B:But.
Speaker B:But their bed vibrates and that's redeeming slightly to him.
Speaker B:And they get a knock at the door and who is it?
Speaker B:But Gabriel is there, knows they're looking for him.
Speaker B:And he is bleeding badly.
Speaker A:Profusely.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:We actually go back to Apocalypse World here.
Speaker B:And so we are going to see Jack telling Mary that that there.
Speaker B:There was another battle but they rebelled.
Speaker A:Already is Baltimore is Balthazar's army.
Speaker A:Which is always interesting when we have a parallel of an angel from the other world.
Speaker A:So in this world Balthazar is leading an army and he attacked and Jack killed him.
Speaker A:So Balthazar is now dead.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:But they saved at least 30 people.
Speaker B:And Bobby is with them and he's.
Speaker B:Jack's just hyped.
Speaker B:This is our third battle in a row they've won.
Speaker B:And Mary's like, wait, how many people are coming?
Speaker B:We are out of space and supplies.
Speaker B:There are logistics.
Speaker B:Logistics, dudes.
Speaker B:Somebody's got to think about it.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And Jack just kind of has the mind of a six day old, you know.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Because he's not that much older than six days old.
Speaker A:And so.
Speaker A:And startles is out in the woods.
Speaker A:But it's Jacob.
Speaker A:It's a friendly.
Speaker A:And he has brought in word from outside that Michael's fortress that the angels are all leaving.
Speaker A:So they don't know what's going on.
Speaker A:But that's something.
Speaker A:Someone's like, all right.
Speaker A:And so we go.
Speaker A:We don't trust it.
Speaker A:But we go from there back to the motel where Sam is fixing up Gabriel's wounds.
Speaker A:And he.
Speaker A:Gabriel found them because he felt Rowena's tracking spell, which he said tasted like haggis.
Speaker B:That's just gross.
Speaker B:And I don't care how you feel about haggis.
Speaker B:I don't want someone to cast a spell on me and taste a food.
Speaker A:I don't want to taste a food.
Speaker A:I mean, haggis is actually pretty good.
Speaker A:But I don't want to.
Speaker A:I don't want to taste it.
Speaker A:It's like burping up food.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker A:So it's like, oh, and I also.
Speaker A:I really don't want to burp up haggis.
Speaker A:And as delightful as it is.
Speaker A:So Gabriel at first blames the wounds on a poker game and said he was stealing A guy's wife.
Speaker A:Of course.
Speaker A:Of course he did.
Speaker A:And they want to know why he came there.
Speaker A:And Gabriel's just like, so, do you have any more of my grace?
Speaker A:Which is a weird thing, I think, for him to.
Speaker A:What leg?
Speaker A:He should know they don't have any more of his grace, but.
Speaker B:Well, he doesn't, because.
Speaker B:Remember?
Speaker B:Because they.
Speaker B:They had the little vial, gave it to him.
Speaker B:He doesn't know that there was any more.
Speaker B:I mean, I guess it was his only shot.
Speaker A:I guess I just.
Speaker A:You know.
Speaker A:Just how much of your grace do you think there is floating around?
Speaker A:But anyway, so his grace keeps.
Speaker A:And this is one of those times, too, where I don't understand why some archangels like you just keep your grace.
Speaker A:And your grace doesn't.
Speaker A:Like, it's just because you're wounded that your grace isn't replenishing itself and just hanging.
Speaker A:Because it's not like.
Speaker A:Nor Michael's not going around needing to replenish his grace.
Speaker A:You know, his grace is fine.
Speaker B:Then again, didn't get extracted and I guess, depends.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:I just.
Speaker A:The grace.
Speaker A:The grace thing.
Speaker A:Lore is just kind of weird, right?
Speaker A:I'm just saying.
Speaker B:It is Agreed.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:But Gabriel's is draining, and he drained it more.
Speaker A:And he was fighting Asmodeus and ditching them, so that used up some of his powers.
Speaker A:And Dean's just like, no, we used up all your stuff opening up the rift.
Speaker A:And Gabriel's gonna leave, but he thinks that he needs a siesta because he isn't healing.
Speaker B:Correct.
Speaker B:So we cut back to the alley where Fenrir was killed, and there's two dudes looking.
Speaker B:There's one tough, one tough gu.
Speaker B:And one guy in a fancy plaid suit looking at.
Speaker A:In a Boston suit.
Speaker B:It is.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And they notice there's blood on the ground that does not belong to Fenrir.
Speaker B:How do they know?
Speaker B:And so they decide to taste it.
Speaker B:Because that's what you do.
Speaker A:Why would you do that?
Speaker A:Why do you put your finger in the blood and then put the blood in your mouth?
Speaker A:It was the blood that was on the street.
Speaker B:It wasn't on the street.
Speaker A:Like, random.
Speaker A:It was blood on.
Speaker A:In an alley.
Speaker B:Alley, street, blood outside of a.
Speaker A:Pretty sure that's how you get a disease.
Speaker B:Correct.
Speaker A:You got hep C now, man.
Speaker A:Like, sorry.
Speaker B:Yeah, it's not good.
Speaker B:Or at least.
Speaker B:At least a parasite or a abdominal issue.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:But also, then they're like, oh, it's archangel blood.
Speaker B:How do they know what archangel blood Tastes like.
Speaker B:That's the next question.
Speaker B:I was like, what is happening here?
Speaker B:So they're going to call Father.
Speaker A:Oh, Father.
Speaker B:So back in Apocalypse World, Jack is astral projecting to Michael's headquarters, I guess.
Speaker B:And I called it remote viewing.
Speaker B:Oh, that's better.
Speaker B:That's true.
Speaker B:Remote viewing is probably more accurate.
Speaker B:That's a better word.
Speaker B:I was.
Speaker B:I was just picking the wrong art belt.
Speaker A:He's just not there physically, so.
Speaker A:Yeah, but.
Speaker A:So he's looking into the fortress, and it's empty except for a few angels guarding the perimeter fighter.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:And so they still.
Speaker A:They just don't know what's going on.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:And it's us, obviously, so and so.
Speaker B:But Jack's pondering maybe, is Michael scared of him or what?
Speaker B:But he thinks he needs to investigate and he doesn't care if it's a trap because he can keep everybody safe.
Speaker A:So he's got a lot of pride going on.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And Jack is just ignoring Mary, who's trying to talk him down.
Speaker A:And like, you know, this is probably a trap, man.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker A:And he's just not listening.
Speaker A:He's being kind of childish.
Speaker B:Correct.
Speaker A:He's a child.
Speaker A:And then we switch back to the motel where Gabriel has woken up, and Dean tries once again to plead for his health, and Gabriel once again refuses because he is not a joiner.
Speaker A:High five to the not a joiners.
Speaker B:We're.
Speaker A:We're a good team, so.
Speaker A:No, we actually didn't join a team.
Speaker A:So we'll high five if we ever see each other.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:But Gabriel is going to leave because they're out of grace.
Speaker A:But that's when Sleipnir and Narfi bust in the door.
Speaker B:And I, like Gabriel's word is raspberries.
Speaker A:Raspberries.
Speaker A:So Narfi says that they're there for the angel, and then his face gets super imposed with it.
Speaker A:And I was just.
Speaker A:I was like, what the.
Speaker A:Is.
Speaker A:Is that just a skull?
Speaker A:It's just a skull, yeah.
Speaker B:Like, that's boring.
Speaker A:I mean, it's cool and all, but it's not like a wolf or anything.
Speaker A:I'm like, oh, you.
Speaker A:You got.
Speaker A:Can you imagine if, like, you're one of the actors and you're like, oh, like, you get a wolf, like, you get a horse skull.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So what animal does he turn into if he's skull, is he like a skeleton, like, going to do a dance?
Speaker B:That's.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:That's.
Speaker B:I don't get it.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker A:It's not a wolf.
Speaker B:No, but the guy in the cool suit.
Speaker B:Slopner, right?
Speaker B:Is that how you say it?
Speaker A:Sle.
Speaker A:He's a sl.
Speaker B:We'll talk.
Speaker A:Yeah, but he's a horse.
Speaker B:Yeah, he's got.
Speaker B:He glows like a horse.
Speaker B:And so they are our Norse demigods and they are going to fight.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker A:And then Gabriel managed to stab Nafir with the wooden sword, and Sleip near runs off.
Speaker B:I call him the fancy pony at that point.
Speaker B:He.
Speaker A:He gallops away.
Speaker B:It's a fancy pony.
Speaker B:Ran off.
Speaker A:The fancy pony gallops away.
Speaker A:And Gabriel says he's gonna go after him in a minute.
Speaker A:And Dean says he's not going anywhere.
Speaker A:And he pulls out these handcuffs.
Speaker A:And I'm like, what is the point?
Speaker A:I guess maybe Gabriel is still weak enough with these.
Speaker A:They're not even the spelled handcuffs.
Speaker B:It had something marked on.
Speaker B:Had a Men of Letters logo on it, but that was.
Speaker A:Yeah, okay, maybe they were at least spelled that way, but I don't know.
Speaker A:It just seems like you shouldn't be able to handcuff an archangel.
Speaker A:Correct.
Speaker B:It does seem like that.
Speaker B:That would be an odd thing to be able to do.
Speaker A:So, okay, so back to Apocalypse World.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And so Jack and Mary and the rebels have decided they're gonna go to the headquarters, despite Mary's misgivings.
Speaker B:So they are looking for wards.
Speaker B:They see there's no one there.
Speaker B:But Jack and Mary quickly notice a tabletop war game laid out with little soldiers.
Speaker B:But it's not near them.
Speaker B:It's further south than where they are.
Speaker B:And so.
Speaker B:But while they're looking at this and kind of going, huh, this is odd.
Speaker B:This is concerning.
Speaker B:What's happening?
Speaker A:What military person does, like, a strategic thing on a map and then leaves.
Speaker A:And then leaves.
Speaker B:His.
Speaker A:His.
Speaker A:His strategy, his people on the map for the other people to come see.
Speaker B:Because it's a trap.
Speaker B:And it didn't matter.
Speaker A:Of course it is, because nobody would do that.
Speaker B:No, it's stupid.
Speaker A:It's just not even in the game of Risk.
Speaker A:Would anybody do that?
Speaker A:So, anyway, so Jacob comes back in, and he's got meth head.
Speaker A:Kevin Tran.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:From the dungeon.
Speaker B:And Jacob's like, he's a traitor.
Speaker B:And Kevin's like, it's not my fault.
Speaker A:I didn't have a choice.
Speaker B:I thought.
Speaker B:I thought Michael was going to save the world.
Speaker B:But then when I couldn't perfect the spell, he threw me in the dungeon, too.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:I know, but.
Speaker B:And they're like.
Speaker B:Mary's like, but wait, what's the spell and what's the plan?
Speaker B:It seems like, you've got some intel here.
Speaker B:And he's like, yeah, this is all about.
Speaker B:They're going to this place in the south where they're going to open the rift to the other world.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So there's a place in the south where the world.
Speaker A:The walls between the worlds are thin enough.
Speaker A:So you don't.
Speaker A:I don't mean.
Speaker A:I guess he has his own archangel grace too, maybe.
Speaker A:If he's going to do it that way.
Speaker B:His own.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So they are going to go to a different location to invade our world.
Speaker B:So they.
Speaker B:The supernatural.
Speaker B:Their world.
Speaker B:Supernatural.
Speaker B:Yeah, whatever.
Speaker A:That world.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker C:Yes.
Speaker B:So back in the motel, Gabriel basically says, like, threatens them if he had the juice to do it.
Speaker B:And Sam's like, yeah, you know what?
Speaker B:What we need to tell us what's going on.
Speaker B:That's what it comes down to.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Because we just stuffed the body of a demigod into a car crusher.
Speaker A:Which is an interesting thing too, because the God was like, oh, God.
Speaker A:Body not disintegrating or, you know, vanishing.
Speaker A:So you have to do something with it.
Speaker A:We don't know what they did with Fenrir's body, but that's.
Speaker A:I was.
Speaker A:It was always interesting when you add corpse disposal to your list of things to do.
Speaker B:Correct.
Speaker A:And Gabriel says that they aren't really demigods, they're more like God begotten monsters.
Speaker A:And we're going to talk about our.
Speaker A:How they are begotten.
Speaker A:And this is lore.
Speaker A:So according to the lore, the Norse God Loki had six children, three of which were Sleafnir, Fenrir and Nafir.
Speaker A:And let's start with Sleipnir.
Speaker A:So Loki is actually Sleipnir's mother.
Speaker A:How did that happen?
Speaker A:So in the early days of Midgard, a builder approached the Norse gods and offered to build them the best wall ever.
Speaker A:In exchange, he wanted to claim the goddess Freya.
Speaker A:Plus he wanted the sun and the moon, and.
Speaker A:Which was quite a bit to ask for.
Speaker B:That's a lot.
Speaker A:It's a lot.
Speaker A:And the gods kind of talk it over and they make him a deal and they're like, look, if you can finish the wall in three months without anyone's help, you can have all those things.
Speaker A:If you don't do that, then you don't get anything.
Speaker A:And the man agreed, but he's like, I'll do this, but only if I could have my horse, the stallion.
Speaker A:And this is where we get to the.
Speaker A:It's a Norse mythology episode.
Speaker A:So Liz is going to say Nordic words in Funny ways.
Speaker A:So this was the stallions for Varler Far.
Speaker A:And so that.
Speaker A:That horse helps him.
Speaker A:And so after.
Speaker A:After that, so he gets to work.
Speaker A:And he was really fast, and the horse could haul giant hunks of rock to the site.
Speaker A:And the builder was clearly going to finish in time.
Speaker A:So the gods are like, we have to stop this.
Speaker A:Like, Loki, stop this.
Speaker A:So Loki's like, aha.
Speaker A:I will do the Bugs Bunny style, and I will turn myself into a beautiful woman horse.
Speaker A:So Loki becomes a mayor, and he leads the other stallion into the woods.
Speaker A:They get busy, and Loki gets impregnated.
Speaker A:So that's.
Speaker A:So the builder gets so mad that he revealed himself to be one of the banished race of giants.
Speaker A:So Odin smashed in his face with his hammer.
Speaker A:It's kind of violent, but it happened.
Speaker A:So he gives birth to Sleafnir.
Speaker A:And Sleafnir is not just any horse.
Speaker A:He is the fastest horse in all the realms because of his eight legs.
Speaker A:Now, the eight legs represent the eight directions of the world.
Speaker A:Did you know there were eight directions?
Speaker A:There's north, south, east, west, up, down, inside, and outside.
Speaker B:Huh?
Speaker B:I mean, I had.
Speaker B:I had me up.
Speaker B:I was in my head.
Speaker B:I was counting off, and I got to six with up, down, the inside outsides.
Speaker A:Inside, outside, yeah.
Speaker A:So his eight legs, right?
Speaker A:His extra legs grow from his shoulders and his haunches.
Speaker B:A spider horse.
Speaker A:He's like a spider horse that makes him go super fast.
Speaker A:And so when Odin admired him, Loki gave him to him as a gift, which I think is weird because it's like his grandson.
Speaker A:So he's like, gifting his grandson to him to ride.
Speaker A:I just think that's strange.
Speaker A:So Sleafnir's coat was gray like a thundercloud, and his mane was a darker shade of gray.
Speaker A:And then I just thought that 50 Shades of just ruined that phrase forever.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:But he's got some gray hair on him, and he really is the bestest horse in all the horsey ways.
Speaker A:He can gallop faster, jump higher, kick harder, and Winnie louder than any other horse.
Speaker A:He can fly through the air and swim through the water.
Speaker A:As Odin's horse, he became a part of many Norse legends, including that time Odin rode him to the underworld and was only able to navigate the land because of Sleipnir.
Speaker A:Sleipnir is also said to be almost invincible in battle, and he was often used as a symbol of power.
Speaker A:He does father a young stallion named Granny, who is also a great horse, but only has four legs.
Speaker B:All right.
Speaker A:The second son, Narfi There aren't that many legends about him.
Speaker A:He is the God of wrongdoing, and he inherited Loki's traits of cunning and trickery.
Speaker A:He was Loki and the goddess Siggins.
Speaker A:Sigins.
Speaker A:I watched a thing with the hot Norse guy on it.
Speaker A:I saw.
Speaker A:I got distracted.
Speaker A:I was, I think he said, seeking.
Speaker A:So in the Poetic Edda, Loki ended up bound with nar fears or nari guts, when the goddess Scowl fastens a snake over Loki's face, and Sigin catches the dripping venom from the snake in a bowl until it's so full that the venom splashes on Loki and that causes him to shake.
Speaker A:In the Prose Edda, his brother Vali rips Narfi apart.
Speaker A:Then Narfi's guts are used to tie Loki to three stones.
Speaker A:And then that goddess puts a snake over top of Loki.
Speaker A:Then his.
Speaker A:The goddess again catches the venom in a bowl, but when it gets too full and she goes to pour it out, the venom hits Loki and he shakes so much that that's what sets Ragnarok in motion.
Speaker B:Oh, wow.
Speaker A:AKA the Apocalypse.
Speaker A:Narfi also fathered the giantess not, who is personification of Night with beautiful dark skin.
Speaker A:Not had a son named Dagar, which is Day, with the God Dellinger.
Speaker A:Odin gave not and Dagar chariots to ride across the sky into Ragnarok with Dagar bringing light to the sky and not bringing the night.
Speaker A:So that's how we get Knight.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And finally, our third one, Fenrir the wolf.
Speaker A:Fenrir was prophesied to participate in the destruction of the Norse cosmos by killing Odin.
Speaker A:Fenrir starts off as a cute little wolf cub, but he was the son of Loki and the giantess Angboda, and he got the giantess's giant genesis.
Speaker A:So he started growing out of control at, like, this horrible pace, and he became, like the world's most destructive puppy.
Speaker A:He was just, like, ripping things apart, and they're like, we've got to do something about this.
Speaker A:He grew so big that his upper jaw reached the heavens and his lower jaw the earth.
Speaker A:You imagine the size of his paws, too.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Awful.
Speaker B:That tail.
Speaker A:The tail just, like, knocking everywhere.
Speaker B:Knocking over skyscrapers.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker A:So the gods tied to binding Fenrir twice, twice themselves before they called in the assistance of the dwarves of Svalto Farharmer, who agreed to make a chain for the wolf.
Speaker A:They presented Odin with Gleipnir, a shackle made of six ingredients.
Speaker A:The sound of a cat's feet, the roots of a mountain, a bear's sinews a woman's beard, a fish's breath and a bird's spit.
Speaker A:I love how they have a woman's beard in there.
Speaker A:Like, it's just like, rip those things that grew out of my chin and just.
Speaker A:Just put them in this.
Speaker A:It put them into this magical chain.
Speaker A:So they end up getting the chain on him.
Speaker A:And in order to, like, prove the faith of them, the God of law and justice, Tyre, like, puts his hand inside Fenrir's mouth, which is really stupid.
Speaker A:And so Fenrir bites off his hand.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So ending up.
Speaker A:So besides putting the chain on him, they.
Speaker A:They have to shut his giant jaws.
Speaker A:And so they gag him with a sword, which I think is really awful.
Speaker A:But, you know, one day, as legend goes, Fenrir will break his bounds and eat Odin.
Speaker A:His son Skirl and Hati will eat the sun and the moon, destroying the stars and ending time.
Speaker A:Fenrir, though, will be killed by Odin's son, Vidar, who will tear his jaws apart with his father foot.
Speaker A:Oh, yeah.
Speaker A:Okay, so nothing about dressing like you're in the boss towns?
Speaker B:No, they didn't.
Speaker B:They didn't address that part.
Speaker A:They did not.
Speaker B:But I do appreciate the horse's fancy suit.
Speaker A:Yeah, well, you know, he's really.
Speaker A:He's getting ready for a dressage.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker B:Missed opportunity.
Speaker B:Horse in a blazer.
Speaker B:Come on.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Would have been so good.
Speaker A:All right, so back in supernatural land, they.
Speaker A:Gabriel says that the Loki sons want to kill him because he killed their brother.
Speaker A:And he left a few bits out of the Monte Carlo in the porn star story.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And we get a flashback now, which Liz did, remember, previously, to Monte Carlo.
Speaker B:And this is.
Speaker B:We see Fenrir.
Speaker B:We see Nefir and Slap in there.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And Gabriel in this pure, like, all white everything fancy hotel that's supposed to be in Monte Carlo.
Speaker B:And it's just them hanging out, gambling and drinking.
Speaker B:And Dean's like, what about the porn stars?
Speaker B:And Gabriel's like, oh, yeah.
Speaker B:And then we rewind and then we restart the scene and there's a lot of sex going on.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And he.
Speaker A:Gabriel really starts to get into the weeds about all this entertainment.
Speaker A:And Sam is just like, can you just get past, like, all of this?
Speaker A:And Dean's like, come on, man.
Speaker A:I just want to hear about the foreign stars.
Speaker A:But the Loki brothers had him kidnapped and sold him to Asmodeus.
Speaker A:And it was just.
Speaker A:It was the apocalypse.
Speaker A:And he said he just, you know, they just wanted to cover their keisters.
Speaker A:But selling him to Asmodeus was all profit, and now he wants revenge.
Speaker B:I like that.
Speaker B:He calls Asmodeus a Kentucky fried B hole.
Speaker A:It was a good one.
Speaker B:So, yeah.
Speaker B:Anyway, so you know, the only thing better than taking out Asmodeus is getting all of these guys taking out all these guys.
Speaker B:And Sam's like, but you're also low on grace.
Speaker B:And also, what's up with these wooden swords?
Speaker B:There's.
Speaker B:There's three brothers.
Speaker B:Why do you have four swords?
Speaker B:And he's like, the top ones for the man with the plan, the architect of my torture, and enemy number one, their papa, Loki.
Speaker B:And then we see Loki.
Speaker B:And Loki is Gabriel, but not same goddamn person.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker A:Very confusing.
Speaker A:So we're gonna go while we all ponder this.
Speaker A:Oh, once again, multiples, much like time travel, is stupid, so is multiple people actors.
Speaker A:Sometimes multiple actors playing the same role.
Speaker A:Because it can't make you or the.
Speaker B:Same actor playing multiple roles.
Speaker A:Yeah, well, this.
Speaker A:The role that can't die.
Speaker A:That just, you know, refuses to die and just keeps popping back up.
Speaker A:Anyway, so we go.
Speaker A:Ponder that.
Speaker A:We got to go to Apocalypse World.
Speaker A:And the rebels are all around this map that Michael left, and they're arguing about what to do and why he.
Speaker B:Would have left this.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker A:And nobody is just like, this is stupid.
Speaker A:I mean, like, Mary's like, it's a trap.
Speaker A:Not.
Speaker A:This is stupid.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:But Jack's just like, no, it's fine.
Speaker B:We can just go and I'll kill him.
Speaker B:It's fine.
Speaker B:And Mary's like, no, this is a bad plan.
Speaker B:And also, we need to wait for Bobby.
Speaker B:He's only one day away with those people, so we have to wait for Bobby.
Speaker B:And Kevin's like, yeah, you know, Michael never does anything without a reason.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:And Jacob actually is like, it.
Speaker B:Let Michael go to the other world.
Speaker B:We don't care.
Speaker A:Like, damn.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:That is like 7 billion people, man.
Speaker A:Like, you know, that's a little up.
Speaker A:And then Mary is still just pleading with Jack that he's gotta think it through.
Speaker A:And she's just begging him to just give her a day.
Speaker B:So from there we go to.
Speaker B:Back to the motel, and Dean is hitting his flask.
Speaker B:And because he is confused that he thought Loki and Gabriel were the same person.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker A:So he just like all of us, he's like, what?
Speaker B:What?
Speaker B:And.
Speaker A:And we're like, okay, maybe I can understand the drinking for just this one time, Dean.
Speaker A:Fine.
Speaker A:And so Loki's Gabriel explains that Loki and Gabriel were friends because.
Speaker A:And this is kind of goes back into some of the lore, you're talking about.
Speaker A:Gabriel found Loki in a cave with snake venom dripping from his eye.
Speaker A:And Gabriel freed him and saved his life.
Speaker A:Yes, but, Gab, at that time, Gabriel wanted out of the Angel Brothers game, and Loki helped him ditch his Gabriel role and become him.
Speaker B:Yeah, and take on the Trickster vibe.
Speaker B:And it let him.
Speaker B:And Loki really wanted to go off grid anyways.
Speaker B:He had his own family drama.
Speaker B:So it worked out that Gabriel could become Loki, basically, while Loki went underground.
Speaker B:So Dean's like, you know, like, none of this would have happened if you had just stuck around and, like, helped us fight Lucifer in the first place.
Speaker B:And Gabriel's like, I did help.
Speaker B:Don't you remember?
Speaker B:CAS Casa erotica.
Speaker B:Duh.
Speaker B:But he's like, no, you still ran.
Speaker B:And Gabriel's just like, I had more important things to do.
Speaker B:But then he talks about.
Speaker B:Then he gets kind of upset because he talks about his terrible experience being tortured by Asmodeus and how he was used for years and tortured for years, and you just don't forgive what he went through.
Speaker B:And everyone involved will die.
Speaker A:But at this time, too, this is where Dean starts arguing with Gabriel that his revenge tour isn't really the be all and end all, and that you really can't be all in for revenge.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker B:And you're not going to get the satisfaction out of it you think you're gonna get.
Speaker A:You're not gonna get it.
Speaker A:And killing Loki isn't gonna make you feel better.
Speaker A:And Gabriel's just like, you know, I would like to disagree.
Speaker A:You know, I. I think it's gonna make me feel better.
Speaker A:And sometimes you're like, you know what?
Speaker A:I think sticking a sword in this dude is going to make me feel better.
Speaker A:So shut the up, Dean.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:But Sam points out that, you know, he's low on grace, and he's got no surprise.
Speaker A:Loki knows he's coming.
Speaker A:And this is where Dean pulls Sam aside and he's really firm in this ideology that revenge only ends ugly.
Speaker B:Which is interesting coming from Dean, of all people, but that's okay.
Speaker B:But also, he.
Speaker B:We get our first.
Speaker B:We get our first in episode Official, like, verbalized Kill Bill reference.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And so.
Speaker B:But Sam's like, whatever.
Speaker B:Gabriel needs our help.
Speaker B:So they decide to go offer to help him in exchange for him helping them.
Speaker B:So we get a quick shot of Jack deeply pondering the war table in the fortress, and then we cut back straight to the motel very quickly, where Sam's loading a gun and Gabriel changed clothes.
Speaker A:Yeah, he's leathered up, so he's in kind of like a.
Speaker A:More like Gabriel esque outfit.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah, I guess.
Speaker A:Kind of.
Speaker B:But Dean asks.
Speaker B:Asks him.
Speaker B:He asks Uma what the plan is.
Speaker B:So we get another kill bill reference because he does have a.
Speaker B:A moto collar, black leather jacket on.
Speaker A:So it's a nice touch.
Speaker A:It is.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:So we find that Sleipner ran back to Loki and that they're only a five minute drive from there.
Speaker A:Because he's in a penthouse house.
Speaker A:Because this is what Loki does.
Speaker A:He rolls into town, he finds the CDS motel and he gives it his patented Cinderella treatment.
Speaker A:Which is just the best way to travel.
Speaker B:I mean, I'm jealous.
Speaker A:Sounds just like he.
Speaker A:This comes in and then you.
Speaker A:All of a sudden you've got a luxury hotel out of this cheap ass like fleet trap.
Speaker A:You're in.
Speaker B:It.
Speaker A:Sounds great.
Speaker A:Does down for this.
Speaker B:And so we see his fancy room and.
Speaker B:And we.
Speaker B:Gabriel shares that he's been tracking him since Amarillo.
Speaker B:So he was in Amarillo before.
Speaker B:So that's a nice little quick hint.
Speaker B:But Gabriel's working up to the big bad.
Speaker B:He want his shows, Dean the kill list.
Speaker B:And so he wants to get slept near.
Speaker B:And then he's gonna go for Loki.
Speaker B:And Dean's like, this is dumb.
Speaker B:And Loki's pissed, but he's like a seven years of planning.
Speaker B:So Sam's like, no, no, no, guys, don't fight.
Speaker B:We're gonna do this.
Speaker B:We agreed.
Speaker B:And so they agree that they are motel and kill them both in order.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker A:And Gabriel wants to go in, kill Supner, and then surprise Loki.
Speaker A:That's his plan.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And we go to Apocalypse World.
Speaker A:And Jack cannot wait.
Speaker A:And he's gonna go off on his own and.
Speaker A:Because of course he is.
Speaker A:And Jack accuses Mary of underestimate.
Speaker A:Underestimating him.
Speaker A:And Mary's just like, we don't know how strong this Michael is.
Speaker A:And Jack, she's like, I'm stronger.
Speaker A:You don't know how strong I am.
Speaker A:I'm like child.
Speaker A:And you need to not do this.
Speaker A:This seems like a really bad idea.
Speaker B:And she's just like, I did this with hunting.
Speaker B:You can't just run in blind to every fight.
Speaker B:That's how you make mistakes.
Speaker B:So chill out.
Speaker B:Because you can't help us if you're dead.
Speaker B:And I.
Speaker B:But then she gets in their feels because she says she can't lose another boy.
Speaker C:Oh.
Speaker B:So then Kevin's like, by the way, you're not going anywhere.
Speaker B:Watch this.
Speaker B:And he rips open his shirt and he has this symbol chart carved in his chest.
Speaker B:And Kevin's like, michael told me to wait for Bobby to get here for you to all be together, but apparently I can't wait because I need Jack to see this.
Speaker A:Well, because he is.
Speaker A:Jack is leaving.
Speaker A:And so, because Jack couldn't wait anymore, now he's making meth head Kevin tranquil.
Speaker A:Forego his breakout.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:And so Mary is once again trying to.
Speaker A:Now she's trying to reason with Kevin Tran and be like, look, I've been to heaven, dude.
Speaker A:It's just memories.
Speaker A:Like, you're not gonna get to see your mom.
Speaker A:Like, you think you're gonna get to see your mom.
Speaker A:And Kevin's like, I don't really give a.
Speaker A:Like, in this world, I just want to be out of here.
Speaker A:And he just wants it to be over, which is really sad.
Speaker B:It is.
Speaker A:And then.
Speaker A:Then it gets even worse because Jack is like, look, Kevin, like, this spell's not gonna kill him.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And Kevin's like, it's not meant to.
Speaker A:It's meant to break you and Kevin.
Speaker A:And Michael has, like, passed on a message for him to tell him.
Speaker A:And he was like, even if you win, you still lose.
Speaker B:Damn.
Speaker A:And then he activates.
Speaker A:He.
Speaker A:Kevin says he's sorry.
Speaker A:And he activates his sigil.
Speaker A:And Jack wraps his wings around Mary.
Speaker A:And there's a big boom.
Speaker B:Yeah, not good.
Speaker B:Not good.
Speaker B:So we see a slap there in the motel.
Speaker B:And he's got two guards with them.
Speaker B:And they get on the elevator, but Sam and me and Gabriel are there.
Speaker B:Yeah, he has.
Speaker B:He was eating an apple before, and now he's eating.
Speaker A:Yeah, the carrot's even better than the apple.
Speaker A:Like, the apple is fine, but the.
Speaker B:Like.
Speaker B:Ah.
Speaker B:Yeah, it's good.
Speaker B:Good.
Speaker B:It's good.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:If we need to just have them to pop some sugar cubes periodically or something.
Speaker B:Really rounded out, but they're.
Speaker B:They see what floor he's going to.
Speaker B:The third floor.
Speaker B:So they know where to follow him up in the motel.
Speaker B:Clever.
Speaker B:I like that little touch of scene that we get.
Speaker B:And so.
Speaker B:But Gabriel's like, you, Sam and Dean need to take out the bodyguards, any bystanders.
Speaker B:But Gabriel gets the big prize.
Speaker B:That's.
Speaker B:He wants the two guys that he's after.
Speaker B:Also, why are there bystanders that are going to get killed?
Speaker B:This is upsetting.
Speaker B:Bodyguard's okay, but that seems.
Speaker A:Yeah, we don't need to plan on killing the bystanders.
Speaker A:But I just thought it was really funny riding up in the elevator.
Speaker A:It was Gabriel in between Sam and Dean.
Speaker A:He just looks so tiny compared To.
Speaker A:He's not that short of a man as I know.
Speaker A:I've hung out with Mr. Speck many times, you know, in person.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:Spate.
Speaker A:Sorry I said I can't even say his name right.
Speaker A:I'm like, you know, really good friends.
Speaker A:I.
Speaker A:But so.
Speaker A:But he looks really short in.
Speaker A:In that scene.
Speaker A:I just thought it was funny.
Speaker B:But Dean is not loving all these plans.
Speaker B:But whatever.
Speaker B:The elevator opens and we're gonna get a fight.
Speaker B:But Gabriel snaps his fingers and everything goes dark.
Speaker B:So we got the bodyguards and Sam and Dana shooting at each other.
Speaker B:Gabriel's got his wooden sword.
Speaker B:And then after.
Speaker B:After, like, the.
Speaker B:The bodyguards are taken out, he snaps his fingers and he has his sword over Slofnair's heart and kills him.
Speaker B:But Dean has.
Speaker A:He says.
Speaker A:He asks him not to.
Speaker A:He begs and it's like, please.
Speaker A:And he's like, nope.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:But Dean has slipped out the door.
Speaker B:Dean has gone somewhere.
Speaker A:Yeah, he's gone.
Speaker A:And we resuming after Loki.
Speaker A:So after that, we go to the penthouse, right?
Speaker A:And Dean opens the door with his sword and Loki is sitting.
Speaker B:This is an irritating.
Speaker B:I'm gonna say this irritating.
Speaker B:Like, why is Dean, like.
Speaker B:I know.
Speaker B:He's just like, we'll just get this over with.
Speaker B:But also like, why you don't have a dog in this fight.
Speaker B:Why are.
Speaker A:You don't have a dog?
Speaker B:Yeah, it makes no sense to.
Speaker B:I know he didn't like listening to Gabriel, but, like, breaking the plan makes no sense either.
Speaker B:It's just a weird choice.
Speaker A:It's a weird choice, as is Loki sucking on a lollipop.
Speaker B:So funny.
Speaker A:And then he takes his lollipop out and he's got like a lollipop box.
Speaker A:I'm like, what the is a lollipop box?
Speaker A:He just like, is like.
Speaker A:It's like a Netflix lo.
Speaker B:It's a row of different flavors of volleyball.
Speaker A:This.
Speaker A:This is the most bizarre.
Speaker A:Like, it's just so random.
Speaker A:It's so random.
Speaker B:Yeah, I like it.
Speaker B:I like it.
Speaker B:I appreciate it.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:But Loki knows who Dean is.
Speaker B:And then Dean's like, yeah, and you're the annoying God that we're wasting time trying to kill.
Speaker B:And there.
Speaker B:And he expresses that the treatment that Gabriel got was actually payback of a personal nature.
Speaker B:So Because.
Speaker B:And it's tied to the death of his father, Odin.
Speaker B:Huh?
Speaker B:And Dean's like that.
Speaker B:That.
Speaker B:You know, that was Lucifer, though.
Speaker B:And he's like, yeah, but that was because of Gabriel.
Speaker B:So it's referring back to it earlier.
Speaker B:Way earlier episode.
Speaker B:And basically that, you know, yeah, they.
Speaker A:Lose a motel episode.
Speaker A:Arguably my favorite.
Speaker A:My favorite episodes.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:So Odin was a salty, disagreeable bastard, but he was still his father.
Speaker A:Which he's like, of course, Dean.
Speaker A:Don't you understand that?
Speaker A:What would you do for your father?
Speaker A:I'm like, oh, it's kind of tying that back.
Speaker A:But so Dean's like this.
Speaker A:And he stabs Loki and the sword goes right through him.
Speaker B:Because it's an illusion.
Speaker A:It's an illusion because he's a trickster.
Speaker A:And this is why I hate the goddamn trickster.
Speaker A:Like so.
Speaker B:But Gabriel finds the real Loki in the hallway.
Speaker B:And so now we have proof of that.
Speaker B:But loke the illusion Loki hits Dean.
Speaker B:So now we know that illusion Loki can't be stabbed, but illusion Loki can knock the fuck out of Dean.
Speaker B:Which is kind of not fair.
Speaker A:It's kind of not fair at all.
Speaker A:So then Sam comes in and he shoots at the hologram, which is pointless.
Speaker A:And we go into the hallway where it's Gabriel versus Loki.
Speaker A:Loki.
Speaker A:So it's basically him fighting himself.
Speaker A:And Loki hand flings Gabriel, then kicks him around and insult him and chokes him.
Speaker A:And I always feel like.
Speaker A:Like when you're an actor and you're doing these things where you're yelling at yourself, like, do you feel like this is some weird kind of therapy where it's just like you're a little maggot, You're a little worm.
Speaker A:And it's just like, no, I know.
Speaker A:I'm a better person into this.
Speaker A:You have to like fight like your inner demon?
Speaker A:Like, is that how he feels in the situation?
Speaker A:Anyway, so Loki is just real pissed in this whole thing.
Speaker A:He's just real.
Speaker B:He's monologuing.
Speaker B:He's monologuing while he's knocking the out of Gabriel.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:About how he always thinks he's a victim.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:Yeah, a lot.
Speaker B:And so he.
Speaker B:But he's mad also because Gabriel couldn't keep one promise and then had the gall to ask for help again.
Speaker B:So he does.
Speaker B:He's like, you know, I'm.
Speaker B:I'm.
Speaker B:You know, didn't want my sons to die and I didn't want to die, so what the.
Speaker B:And Or I don't deserve to die.
Speaker B:Neither did my sons.
Speaker B:And so anyway, Sam and Dean find their fight and are able to get the wooden sword to Gabriel, who is able to turn the fight around and pins Loki to the wall.
Speaker B:And Loki is still talking, man.
Speaker B:He is going in on.
Speaker A:He rips it.
Speaker A:This next part is like really bad.
Speaker A:He not only calls him a Joke and a failure.
Speaker A:But he basically tells him that he's living for pleasure and that he stands for nothing.
Speaker A:And that's what you're gonna die for.
Speaker B:Damn.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:But then Gabriel stops him and he says, you first.
Speaker B:He says, you first.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:And so we.
Speaker A:Loki dies for a real, real.
Speaker A:We think.
Speaker B:Yeah, I think.
Speaker A:I think so.
Speaker B:Appears so.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So he did.
Speaker B:And we go back to Apocalypse World briefly to get a look at Jack looking around at everything inside this fortress being destroyed.
Speaker B:And everybody's dead except for Appears.
Speaker B:Mary appears okay in his arms.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker A:Everyone's burnt to Kentucky Fried crisp.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:And so back on Earth, they have put the Box of swords and trunk.
Speaker A:Gabriel thanks the boys and ask them how they're going to handle the other world.
Speaker A:Michael.
Speaker B:And everybody's kind of include them, including all viewers are probably kind of surprised that Gabriel might actually follow through on his agreement to help.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And they're like, what's going on?
Speaker A:They're like.
Speaker A:He's just like, no, we're not gonna do any tricks.
Speaker A:Tricks are for kids.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And he comments that he got his sweet, sweet vengeance on.
Speaker B:And so now he feels swell like a new guy.
Speaker B:And they get in the car, but.
Speaker A:His smile doesn't quite reach his eyes.
Speaker A:We don't quite feel like he feels whole.
Speaker A:And they all get into baby.
Speaker A:And we go back to Apocalypse World where Jack is now.
Speaker A:Of course, like, this is all my fault because it kind of is.
Speaker B:Correct.
Speaker B:You're not wrong.
Speaker B:I mean, kind of arcs.
Speaker B:You're not.
Speaker B:It's not your fault that Michael's a psycho dick and made Kevin insane.
Speaker A:No, but it's not you.
Speaker B:You also could have waited like Mary.
Speaker A:Suggested if you hadn't been so gung ho to go and stop.
Speaker A:I mean, Kevin would have done this the next day, but you would have at least had that day in between, you know?
Speaker A:So Mary's just like, tries to make him feel better.
Speaker A:And there's like, you know, we can prepare and we could fight, but there are just things that are going to happen we can't see coming.
Speaker A:You just gotta.
Speaker A:That's just how this is.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Jack's just having trouble with not being able.
Speaker B:If he doesn't know what to do if he can't protect people.
Speaker B:People.
Speaker B:So back at the bunker, Dean pours a drink and Cath.
Speaker B:Sam comes in and shares that Castiel is helping Gabriel settle in.
Speaker B:Rowena's studying the Demon Tablet.
Speaker B:And once Gabriel's grace is leveled up now, we'll be good to go.
Speaker A:Isn't that A great little thing to just imagine though.
Speaker A:Like, so Cass is talking Gabriel into his bed.
Speaker A:Rowena's got the Demon Tablet, and Dean's got his little whiskey.
Speaker A:And we're all there, just like, happy little family.
Speaker A:Happy little family.
Speaker B:And then Sam's like, dean, what the were you doing back there going after Loki like that?
Speaker B:And Dean's like, oh, I just saw an opening.
Speaker B:I took it.
Speaker B:Multitasking.
Speaker A:Dean's being a dick.
Speaker B:To be clear.
Speaker B:I think Dean's sucks in the scene, but that's okay.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And Sam is just calling him out for what was happening in this episode and what happened when he went to Apocalypse World by himself where he just.
Speaker A:Just ran off with Catch and didn't talk to him.
Speaker A:And Dean's just like, we talked about that.
Speaker A:And Sam's like, no, we did it.
Speaker A:Of course we did it.
Speaker A:I feel like I'm back at the little kids table, you know?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And this is, you know, it's a classic Winchester fight, of course, but there really is.
Speaker A:Dean is playing cowboy here.
Speaker A:And at least I think, you know, Sam is calling him out for it.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:But Dean doesn't want to apologize for protecting Sam.
Speaker A:And we know this all.
Speaker A:A lot of this Dean admits here that this is coming from deemed scared little boy land.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:Because the last time they had the Lucifer Michael Apocalypse show, Sam died and went to hell.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So he's being a little bit over reactive about it, but Sam's like, you know, Sam's like, no, we're.
Speaker B:We're gonna go into this place, we're gonna that place.
Speaker B:We are going to save Jack and Mom and we're gonna do it together, period.
Speaker B:And whatever happens, we deal with it together.
Speaker B:And if we die, we do that together too.
Speaker A:Oh, Dark Sam.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:That's how we end the episode.
Speaker A:We die together.
Speaker B:Huh?
Speaker B:That's all casual.
Speaker B:That's it.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Oh, do we have some Apocalypse World people?
Speaker A:Casting couch is the casting couch.
Speaker C:Were they on that show that time with that guy?
Speaker B:We do.
Speaker B:We have a few folks.
Speaker B:So we've got Jacob is played by Taran Karam, and he's been in episodes of Arrow.
Speaker B:I, Zombie, Once Upon a Time, Lucifer.
Speaker B:Unreal.
Speaker B:Travelers.
Speaker B:Magicians.
Speaker B:Charmed.
Speaker B:Good Doctor.
Speaker B:He's also a bridge.
Speaker B:Part of the bridge crew in Star Trek beyond the Movie.
Speaker B:Fenrir is played by Sandy Robson.
Speaker B:And he's been in Smallville, Arrow, Wayward Pines, I, Zombie, the Travelers, Once Upon a Time, Siren, Van Helsing, Riverdale, Animal Control, and Last of Us.
Speaker B:He's also a Bar patron in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie and a driver in Tron Aries.
Speaker B:Narfi was played by Michael Adam Thwaite, and he's done a bunch of voice work for anime like Mobile Suit Gundam, Ayakashi, Inuyasha, Lego Ninja Go, and Ninja Go.
Speaker B:He's also been as an actor in episodes of True Calling, Smallville Fringe, Once Upon a Time, Arrow, Van Helsing, Nancy Drew, Shadow and Bone, Brand New Cherry Flavor, Kung Fu Tracker, Resident Alien, and School Skin Spirits.
Speaker B:He was Burke in the film Walking Tall.
Speaker B:He was.
Speaker B:He's a captain in Eight Below.
Speaker B:He's a.
Speaker B:He's the chef in Or Sorry, Chef.
Speaker B:He's Chet in Twilight, New Moon and Eric in the movie Horns and Sleipner was played by Fletcher Donovan, who has been in episodes of Firefly Lane, Big sky and Fire country, and was Eric in the movie Love Harden.
Speaker B:No, I can't do it.
Speaker B:I feel like I've tried to do a nay right now.
Speaker B:It's going to be weird.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:Yeah, so there you go.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So, yeah, I think this was.
Speaker B:I mean, like, there was.
Speaker B:The double character is hard, but it was a.
Speaker B:And the.
Speaker B:The Jack going rogue is annoying and Dean being a dick something.
Speaker B:But it was a fun episode overall.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I mean, as most Gabriel Loki.
Speaker B:They're hard.
Speaker A:Tend to be like, you know, he tends to bring an element of fun and.
Speaker A:And playfulness to it that, you know what.
Speaker B:And annoyance.
Speaker A:And, you know, so.
Speaker A:But in a good way because he just, you know, he's a ball buster.
Speaker A:Although there wasn't a lot of ball busting in this episode, but, you know, it was very like.
Speaker A:There was obviously the Tarantino reference throughout most of it through the Kill Bill reference.
Speaker A:But I. I think that was a fun thing to do.
Speaker A:Yeah, it was a fun way to handle this revenge list and, you know, the revenge theme.
Speaker A:I think it's interesting that, you know, like you said earlier, the Dean was carrying, you know, that's.
Speaker A:That, you know, Dean having the lesson that revenge isn't.
Speaker A:Isn't worth it.
Speaker A:It's something that.
Speaker A:It does sound odd coming from Dean Winchester, but it also doesn't because he's learned.
Speaker A:He has learned that lesson so well.
Speaker A:At least that's one that he seems to have gotten through his thick ass concussion.
Speaker A:Ted.
Speaker B:Concussed.
Speaker B:Concussed.
Speaker B:I agree.
Speaker B:I agree for sure.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And you definitely can feel that we are getting towards the culmination of the season with what's happening here.
Speaker B:Even though it's got a side quest, you still feel that.
Speaker B:Because it all ties.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:At least, you know, I mean, and we brought Apocalypse World back.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So now we know what's happening instead.
Speaker A:Of just clipping it in a little bit.
Speaker A:Like it was pretty much a half and half episode, I would think, you know, Half.
Speaker A:Half there.
Speaker A:Half there.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:Anything else?
Speaker B:That's all I got.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:Well, cheers shirt.
Speaker B:Cheers.
