12:14 The Raid
We are talking about Supernatural, Season 12, Episode 14, "The Raid." No, its not about bug spray, although I'm sure the British Men of Letters (BMOL) have some fancy British version. Can the boys work together with the BMOL? Is there an antibiotic for AVD? Why is the Alpha Vamp yelling at the Brits to get off his lawn? We'll discuss all that, plus Liz breaks down how Enochian relates to the spy and magician John Dee in lore.

On this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.
Speaker A:Got avd?
Speaker A:There's an ointment for that.
Speaker B:And get off my lawn.
Speaker B:Let's do this.
Speaker B:Welcome to this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.
Speaker B:I'm Diana.
Speaker A:And I'm Liz.
Speaker B:And we're going to talk about season 12, episode 14, the Raid.
Speaker A:Like, bug spray raid.
Speaker A:Let's kind of think of that.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker B:Yeah, that I thought of it, and this time I said it.
Speaker B:When I watched the show.
Speaker B:I didn't, but now I thought of that.
Speaker A:Oh, I think it's missing, like, the ers, because it could be the Raiders.
Speaker A:But no, it's just the Raid.
Speaker A:So that, to me, sounds more like bug spray fair.
Speaker B:What have you been up to?
Speaker A:Being disappointed in the population.
Speaker A:So I, like, tried really hard to get.
Speaker A:Not really hard, but I've got a box landia situation once again in my garage, and it happens to the best of us.
Speaker A:And this one really isn't my fault.
Speaker A:It's other people's boxes, and they're very large.
Speaker A:And I finally, like, scheduled, like, with somebody.
Speaker A:I use thumbtack.
Speaker A:And I reached out, like, this is not an ad for that app.
Speaker A:If you want to sponsor us, go for it.
Speaker A:But so I like, finally, I picked my dude on the thumbtack app.
Speaker A:And then he was like, you gave me the price.
Speaker A:Like, that's okay.
Speaker A:And then he was like, oh, I'll come out on Sunday, son.
Speaker A:I'm like, that's cool.
Speaker A:He's like, I'll be here.
Speaker A:But then at a time, like, that's fine.
Speaker A:So have.
Speaker A:You know, I'm gonna be here on Sunday.
Speaker A:Not a problem.
Speaker A:All this, you know, hang out the house, not go to the grocery store, not do the things I need to do, you know, but we'll just.
Speaker A:Do I need to get this taken care of?
Speaker B:This thing?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Then I get the text, oh, you know, the dump is closing, and I. I don't have time to get this dump, you know, this load in.
Speaker A:So I will go to the dump in the morning and be at your place first thing in the morning.
Speaker A:Like, that's fine.
Speaker A:Tomorrow morning.
Speaker A:That's fine.
Speaker A:We're still getting caved.
Speaker A:Like, we all have our things.
Speaker A:Then the morning starts happening, and then gets further and further away from morning.
Speaker A:And then, like, is there an eta?
Speaker A:And he's like, oh, just.
Speaker A:And I know, like, the dump on Mondays, like, you can get backed up there.
Speaker A:But he was like, oh, yeah, you know, I'm just, you know, just finished doing Dumping my load.
Speaker A:And said that he was at basically pass a landmark in San Antonio, which is about 30 minutes from my house.
Speaker A:And then just like two hours go by.
Speaker A:Don't hear anything.
Speaker B:Huh.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And I had told him I had a. I had a hard out because I had an appointment and I.
Speaker A:Because I had an appointment the afternoon because he was supposed to be there in the morning.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And it was like, well, so I had to.
Speaker A:I had to cancel that.
Speaker A:And now I still have Boxlandia because now I had to go through the process of hiring again.
Speaker B:That's annoying.
Speaker A:It's so.
Speaker A:It's so frustrating.
Speaker A:Like, why.
Speaker A:Why did you that to me?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Like, just.
Speaker A:If you don't have time to stop taking me around, why are you dicking me around?
Speaker A:You know, it's rude and so.
Speaker A:Meh.
Speaker A:That's like.
Speaker A:And I feel.
Speaker A:And there's a lot of things that are contingent on that box, that garage getting cleaned out.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:There's a domino effect on all these things.
Speaker B:Domino.
Speaker A:It just makes me go, can things just be easy once?
Speaker B:Can someone.
Speaker A:Can someone just do what they're saying they're going to do is really.
Speaker A:You know.
Speaker B:That's hilarious.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:So that's what I've been up to.
Speaker A:What have you been up to?
Speaker B:I.
Speaker B:What have I been up to?
Speaker B:I think there's something else I can say.
Speaker B:Oh.
Speaker B:I went and saw Rubberboat Gamblers and Strung out at Tulips in Fort Worth.
Speaker B:That was fun.
Speaker B:That was my first punk rock show since I had a knee surgery.
Speaker B:And yes, I stand in the back.
Speaker B:Anyways, it doesn't matter.
Speaker B:But I made.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:You're like down in the pit.
Speaker B:Not like.
Speaker B:Yeah, no.
Speaker B:I'm like, it's not like that matters, but like.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:I had to go sit for a little bit, but I made it through most of the show, and I was really happy about being able to go enjoy that.
Speaker B:And I.
Speaker B:What else did I do?
Speaker A:Oh, I bought a car.
Speaker A:Yay.
Speaker A:That's very exciting.
Speaker A:It's very adorable.
Speaker B:Excited.
Speaker B:She's very pretty.
Speaker B:Dave.
Speaker B:Babe's car started acting up.
Speaker B:So who gets a new car?
Speaker B:Me.
Speaker B:That's how it works.
Speaker B:Like, it's just.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So it's just the way it goes.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:That's about it.
Speaker A:It's very good.
Speaker B:And then this past week, we.
Speaker B:It was also Texas Independence Day.
Speaker B:Recently.
Speaker A:I guess that happened.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:It's March.
Speaker A:There are blue bonnets on the side of the highway.
Speaker A:So I think spring is here.
Speaker B:And I really, like.
Speaker A:I looked over And I was like, oh, crap.
Speaker A:Like, that's a ton of blue bonnets.
Speaker A:When did this happen?
Speaker A:And I'm like, how did that happen?
Speaker A:There hasn't been any rain, so that's reasonable too.
Speaker B:Apparently we're gonna get it for the next week, so.
Speaker A:Yep, I think we've got some.
Speaker B:We're.
Speaker A:Oh my God.
Speaker A:We're not going to talk about the weather on here without extreme weather.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:So moving on.
Speaker A:So there's again, nothing that I know of has been going on.
Speaker A:I actually didn't even check my news source because I just didn't want to look at the news.
Speaker A:So I, I haven't been to my.
Speaker A:Where I'm following things.
Speaker B:We did have Jensen Eccles birthday.
Speaker A:Oh, so that happened.
Speaker A:That's good.
Speaker A:Well, happy birthday, Mr. Eccles.
Speaker A:I'm sure you still look great.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:You look ridiculous for your age.
Speaker B:Is.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:Facts, facts.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:All right, well, let's talk about this episode.
Speaker A:So as we said, the raid.
Speaker A:We'll talk it.
Speaker A:It.
Speaker A:It's something that happens during it, I guess.
Speaker B:Sure.
Speaker A:And this was episode number 14 of season 12.
Speaker A: ,: Speaker A: who passed away in August of: Speaker A:We last back season 10, episode 6, Ask Jeeves.
Speaker A:And this was written by Robert Barrons, who this season has done episode seven, Rock Never Dies.
Speaker A:Before that he did the Foundry, which was episode three.
Speaker A:So we are getting pretty far into this season.
Speaker A:We're in episode 14 now.
Speaker A:So we're.
Speaker A:We're past the halfway mark.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker A:So our recap.
Speaker A:We start off with a shot of the poster for my Summer Blood, Their.
Speaker A:Their Twilight ripoff.
Speaker A:And then we get reminded about vampires Vampire Nest.
Speaker A:And I really wanted to do this week's lore about vampire nests because I think this is the last time we spoiler this may be the last vampires nest we get on Supernatural.
Speaker A:Maybe.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:I have to.
Speaker A:I'll have to look.
Speaker A:But we just lost the, you know the spoilers for this episode.
Speaker A:This, you know, we lose.
Speaker A:We lose the Alpha.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:And how.
Speaker A:And how many they just took out.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:So I thought it'd be fun to.
Speaker A:So we'll talk about it throughout the episode just by.
Speaker A:Based on our knowledge.
Speaker A:But Vampire Nest would have been fun to write about.
Speaker A:But that's not what we're going to talk about this week.
Speaker A:Instead we've got BMW coming in there and that's a British middle letters.
Speaker A:And they're irradiating vampires because they've had all these toys.
Speaker A:Then they Remind us that they stole the cult.
Speaker A:And Mary's talking about nothing comes before family and that she confessed.
Speaker A:But where does that leave us?
Speaker A:And that's where it leaves us.
Speaker A:And we just go right back into the middle of their conversation.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And Dean is pissed.
Speaker B:And she's like, but they have a better way.
Speaker B:And Sam's like, when did this start?
Speaker B:And she admits.
Speaker B:Mary admits that the lake house was her.
Speaker B:So that she's in there like, you almost got cats killed and you did get Wally killed.
Speaker B:And she's like, I had to burn his body and I had to tell his wife.
Speaker A:Okay, one.
Speaker A:Gross.
Speaker A:You can stop burning corpses, guys.
Speaker A:Like, you know what happens.
Speaker A:Like, I feel like this is an old hunter's funeral, but you just need to go stop burning fucking corpses.
Speaker A:Corpses.
Speaker A:And while I had a wife.
Speaker B:I know, like, what the.
Speaker B:I know I was more upset.
Speaker B:I got more upset with Mary when I learned.
Speaker B:When I.
Speaker B:When she said that, I was even more upset.
Speaker A:Oh yeah.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker A:But Dean just has no sympathy.
Speaker B:None.
Speaker B:When she's like, I watch him die every night.
Speaker B:And he's like, Dean's responses good.
Speaker A:Bam.
Speaker B:And they get a big.
Speaker B:We get a little stare down about this.
Speaker B:So we cut to a.
Speaker B:It says three days later.
Speaker B:And we have a van that pulls up to the super secure property and we find out that this weird bunker made out of it's actually really cool.
Speaker B:I say weird.
Speaker B:It's weird because you don't know what the.
Speaker B:Is happening at first.
Speaker A:But it's kind of made out of con exes.
Speaker B:I thought that was cool.
Speaker A:I think that's cheap as well.
Speaker B:It's temporary.
Speaker B:That's what's good.
Speaker A:I don't.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:I don't know how I feel about you're the imposed claustrophobia of it.
Speaker A:And it also just reminds me of really gross.
Speaker A:Like I think it happened in some.
Speaker A:Some television show where they were like having a bunch of like cam models and stuff and Conexes.
Speaker A:And that's what I think I go to.
Speaker A:So I just.
Speaker A:I have really bad things with Conexes.
Speaker A:And I'm like, oh, you know, on the ranch you're always full of rattlesnakes.
Speaker A:And so.
Speaker A:Yeah, I don't like them.
Speaker B:I use them for.
Speaker B:Use them for storage in my work.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:So it's like.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Are they full of rattlesnakes?
Speaker B:No.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:Are you sure?
Speaker B:Yes, I'm sure.
Speaker B:There's no rattlesnakes.
Speaker B:Probably the occasional rat.
Speaker B:I won't lie.
Speaker A:Just because if there's a rat Then there's.
Speaker A:There's rattlesnakes.
Speaker B:Not maybe at one location.
Speaker B:Okay, I'll give you that.
Speaker B:One.
Speaker B:One.
Speaker A:Okay, one.
Speaker A:Finally.
Speaker A:Okay, sorry.
Speaker A:Go on.
Speaker A:Not to derail us with snakes.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:So it's.
Speaker B:But you don't know where the fuck's happening.
Speaker B:And we figure out this is super secure facility.
Speaker B:That is the British Men of Letters temporary compound.
Speaker A:And it has to be somewhere close to Lawrence.
Speaker A:Check to see.
Speaker A:It's like they did.
Speaker A:So I think they just built it to be near the Winchesters.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:To recruit them.
Speaker B:And so It's Mary and Mr. Ketch.
Speaker B:And he, of course, is complimenting her again.
Speaker B:And he holds up his new toy, the avd.
Speaker B:And so.
Speaker A:The avd.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Which sounds like.
Speaker A:It sounds like something you catch when you have sex without condoms.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:Or I just like to call it his magic egg.
Speaker A:And we are going to jump.
Speaker A:I love when we do this right at the beginning of the show, we're going to jump right into some lore.
Speaker A:Magic eggs or what's written on that magic egg, which is a Nokian.
Speaker A:And we're also going to talk about something else that is prepping us for when we finally get to Golden Dawn.
Speaker A:So there's one last person you need to know about for the golden dawn, and he is the person that is responsible for what is called Enochian, the Enochian Alphabet, and that's John Dee.
Speaker A: very old astrologer from the: Speaker A:I'll just.
Speaker A:I'll just call him that and you'll find out why in this great story.
Speaker A: So we're going to go to the: Speaker A:And while English John D. Spent much of his youth studying abroad in Belgium and France1, because apparently the English hated teaching math and they just had a problem with it as a.
Speaker A:As a science and an.
Speaker A:As a subject.
Speaker A:And so in.
Speaker A:In England, you didn't learn math.
Speaker A: tatus when Henry VIII died in: Speaker A:So while he's away, besides getting to learn math.
Speaker A:Nerd.
Speaker A:He learned civil law, astronomy, and probably most pertinent to US astrology.
Speaker A:So while studying abroad, he was also first accused of sorcery when he made a giant winged scarab that carried an actor through a play for a play production.
Speaker A:And everyone was like, which, which, Which?
Speaker A:But no, he was just.
Speaker A:Just science.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A: So in the: Speaker A: books and: Speaker A:And you think about that in the 15, like those books weren't small either.
Speaker A:It's like, where were you keeping this?
Speaker A:And this makes me sad that I have so and boxes.
Speaker A:But 2, 500 books is a lot.
Speaker A:So to buy all these books and to make ends meet, d taught and consulted with exploration companies and he also drew up a number of horoscopes.
Speaker A:He crafted one for the reigning Queen Mary and was accused of both consorting with Elizabeth to overthrow her and that he was attempting to kill her with sorcery.
Speaker A:So he was charged with treason.
Speaker A:But fortunately for him, Mary died either from the flu or from cancer.
Speaker A:We're not quite sure.
Speaker A: So in: Speaker A:And to counter out the prophecies that Notre Damas had made, which foretold there'd be bad luck if she were queen, Dee drew up a horoscope for the day of her coronation which predicted much nicer things.
Speaker A:And Dee's advice would become relied upon by the queen and she would consult him for everything from her teeth hurting to when she wanted research to validate her claims to the lands in North America.
Speaker A:John Dee is credited with the coming up the term the British Empire and heavily advocated for English colonies.
Speaker A:So he became a personal favorite of the queens and she also protected him from further accusations of sorcery.
Speaker A:It's always good to have, you know, a monarch on your side when, when you're doing such things as deist gets up to.
Speaker A: So he was married in: Speaker A:Two years after that, he wed the 22 year old Jane from a nods.
Speaker A:Dee was 51 at this time, but he ended up having eight children with her and they were conceived according to astrological charts drawn up by Dee that were based on Jane's menstrual cycle, which he diligently recorded.
Speaker A:He was like an early period app.
Speaker A:You know, he just like had the, the amount of her menses, like how often she was having it and then he would bang her on the days so they could see the best possible children.
Speaker B:I mean I, if that's what they agreed to as a couple, I mean that's kind of early for such thought.
Speaker A:Early, such family.
Speaker A:Early, like early family planning.
Speaker A:Early family planning and, and somewhat not just thinking her belly was full of sea snakes, although I think that was probably also part of it.
Speaker A:Like, so on this day the sea snake comes forth from her womb and this we can therefore conceive the best child.
Speaker A: So by the: Speaker A:We're here to talk about magic.
Speaker A:So Dee was really getting into crystallo mansi, which is a fancy way of talking about looking into a crystal ball.
Speaker A:However, no matter how much he tried it, it just didn't work for him.
Speaker A:So clearly what he needed was somebody with that talent.
Speaker A:Not that possibly staring into a crystal ball may not work, just that he wasn't good at it.
Speaker A:So first he met a guy named Barnabasal.
Speaker A:And after a couple of months, it became clear.
Speaker A:But Saul was a fraud.
Speaker A:Not just.
Speaker A:I always say his name was Barnabasal.
Speaker A:How that man is clearly a con man.
Speaker A:Nobody named that is ever going to do.
Speaker A:Like he's not.
Speaker A:Don't have him for your pharmacist.
Speaker A:Like he's going to be selling you snake oil.
Speaker A:Barnabas Saul cannot be trusted, so.
Speaker A:But one of the people who helped clue D in on how bad Saul was was another man who maybe could not be trusted.
Speaker A:And he had just recently started going by the name Edward Kelly.
Speaker A: n Edward Talbot in Ireland in: Speaker A:He started out as a lawyer, but was arrested for forgery.
Speaker A:And he may have had both of his ears cut off for that.
Speaker A:I was.
Speaker A:I saw it.
Speaker B:Why does that have to do.
Speaker A:Because he was.
Speaker A:He was a thief and a criminal.
Speaker A:So in order for other people to know that he was a criminal, they cut off his ears.
Speaker B:Huh.
Speaker A:I'm not sure I.
Speaker B:Like.
Speaker A:I saw that in some places.
Speaker B:I've never heard that.
Speaker B:Interesting.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker A:So Edward moves in with D as his new scryer, and his Dee's young bride is a little like, sus.
Speaker A:And is like, this guy's kind of creepy.
Speaker A:I'm not sure how I feel about him.
Speaker A:And she may be proven right in a little while.
Speaker A:So Dee decided that light rays could be focused using crystal balls or mirrors to control singing singular angels, and that these rays could be used to prevent the intrusion of evil spirits.
Speaker A:So he's got Kelly here to start being the one who's crying with these guys.
Speaker B:And he knew it's a Madame Trelawney up in his life, Right?
Speaker A:So he started.
Speaker A:Kelly was using black obsidian mirrors and crystal balls to scry, while Dee would record what Kelly was seeing.
Speaker A:And D recorded hundreds of spirit conversations Kelly had with angels who communicated an angelic language called Enochian, which was comprised of non English letters with its own grammar and syntax.
Speaker B:Interesting.
Speaker A:The Enochian script is written right to left and may use accent marks.
Speaker A:D himself never called it Enochian, instead referring to it as angelical, the celestial speech, the first language of God, Christ and particularly Adam McCall or Adam McCall.
Speaker A:So which Adam?
Speaker A:I, C, A, L. And because he asserted that it was first used by Adam in the Garden of Eden to name all of God's creatures.
Speaker A:But it's called Enochian because Dee also claimed that Enoch of the Book of Enoch fame was the last human to know the language.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:So while the Enochian letters have English letter equivalents, their names are often pronounced differently from the corresponding English letters, though they are some are pronounced as they would be in English.
Speaker A:The 48 poetic verses known as the angelical or Enochian keys are used in the practice of Enochian magic.
Speaker A:And each has distinct functions within the overall magical system.
Speaker A:So the letters themselves are magical.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:So which is why you can do like in supernatural, the glyphs, the sigils that are written in the Enochian magic, those themselves bring bring forth magic.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:So plan your hand on it.
Speaker B:It does something.
Speaker A:Yeah, usually if you cut yourself with something that's going to give you scurvy.
Speaker A:Not scurvy, lockjaw.
Speaker A:So anyhow, so the angels car messages, including predicting the beheading of Mary Queen of Scots in the fight with the Spanish Armada.
Speaker A:Kelly also received a message from the angels during one of the early sessions that he should get married.
Speaker A:So though he claimed to hate marriage, he soon married a 19 year old named Joan Cooper.
Speaker A:Kelly though, was really more into alchemy and not the scrying stuff that he was doing and not the spiritual metaphor version of alchemy that we sometimes talk about where he's trying to like become a higher being he really wants to make gold out of.
Speaker A:So after a few years he kind of refuses to do any more scrying for Dee.
Speaker A:And Dee's like, well, let me try my 8 year old son.
Speaker A:But he's like, you don't have any talent for this either.
Speaker A:Why can't you see anything in this crystal ball?
Speaker A:Kelly, get back to work.
Speaker A:So Edward Kelly gets back to scrying and this time the angels send him a message that is so scandalous that he didn't want to tell John to you.
Speaker A:He's like, no, no, I can't read it, I can't tell you it's so bad.
Speaker A:And so what he said was some tea.
Speaker A:Kelly told him that Dee needed to hold all things in common between them, and that included their wives.
Speaker A:The angels wanted them to swap wives in bed.
Speaker A:Now, Dee said, well, if that's what the angels want.
Speaker A:And then he somehow convinced his wife to do this.
Speaker A:And then you somehow convinced Edward Kelly's wife.
Speaker A:Remember, he was also, like, now in her early 20s.
Speaker A:And D. Is, like, in his, like, 70s by now.
Speaker A:Like, it's just gross.
Speaker B:That's what I was gonna say.
Speaker B:I'm like.
Speaker B:He's like.
Speaker A:He's like, yeah, someone's getting the way worsened.
Speaker A:Some people.
Speaker A:Some people are getting really bad into this deal, and it's the women.
Speaker A:Okay?
Speaker A:So the women are getting the bad end to this deal.
Speaker A:And this was awesome.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:Maybe it's good.
Speaker B:Who knows?
Speaker A:But this was the end of the angelic conversation.
Speaker A:No more angelic.
Speaker A:So somehow, after, Ms. D. Didn't want to hear from any more angels.
Speaker A:So I have condensed their lives into this very big, small nutshell.
Speaker A:So in this world, D. Goes back to Elizabeth's court, while Kelly kept working on trying to make gold for the holy Roman emperor Rudolph, who threw him in prison.
Speaker A: ast, and he died in prison in: Speaker A:His death is attributed either to suicide or to getting stabbed while attempting an escape.
Speaker A: y dies quietly at his home in: Speaker A:Really old man, huh?
Speaker A:Who lives a very fascinating life and did all sorts of things.
Speaker A:And you can see his scrying mirror in the British Museum.
Speaker A:They have that there.
Speaker A:You can go see the things that he was looking, looking in, looking in.
Speaker A:That helped shape our modern world.
Speaker A:Our modern world was shaped by a dude who let another dude look into a crystal ball and tell him what was going on with the world, and that's what helped shape the British Empire.
Speaker A:Sit on that one for a while.
Speaker B:Wild.
Speaker A:Oh, good times.
Speaker A:Good times.
Speaker A:But so those one.
Speaker A:That's how Explain Zoom, which we've.
Speaker A:I've kind of sat on for the show for a while.
Speaker A:So that's just a little bit more into the Enochian language that we have so much, which was what is on our magic eggs.
Speaker A:And also into John D. Who the Golden Dawn.
Speaker A:When we get to them, they use.
Speaker A:I use a lot of his magic in the Inoki magic.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:All right, so we're gonna go back to our magic egg, and we're gonna flash back to our AVD opening up and killing a vampire.
Speaker B:Yeah, it's real weird.
Speaker A:And when we're just like, it's like in whatever the this place is.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:It's like they're getting a gassed or something.
Speaker B:It's weird.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So anyway, so we're inside.
Speaker B:So now we're inside their compound and we see Serena walk by as works there for the rich men of letters.
Speaker B:And Mr. Catch is real rude to her and hands off his weapons bag.
Speaker B:Just drop at the armory and instructs her to clean his sick.
Speaker A:Yeah, he says, scrub it.
Speaker A:And I mean like, scrub my nuts, Catch.
Speaker A:And she's like, I've got three PhDs.
Speaker A:And then he shits on that too.
Speaker A:Like, you know, he probably even didn't finish like whatever eaten or whatever British school like he got kicked out of.
Speaker A:So then we have Mary come in and I'm like, oh, I've worn this outfit.
Speaker B:And Mary is sitting and staring at the text message she has sent to Dean.
Speaker B:And his has.
Speaker B:He has not.
Speaker B:He has left her on unread.
Speaker B:He is not responding.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And we get more of this conversation with Dean earlier and it was really, really emotional.
Speaker A:And Dean accuses her of being gone their whole lives.
Speaker A:And I'm like, she was dead, Dean.
Speaker A:She didn't really have a choice there.
Speaker A:And then Rut gets into her for needing space.
Speaker A:And then in between, like, they're showing her thirsty texts and they're just like.
Speaker A:They keep getting more desperate, like, each going on.
Speaker A:It's like, answer me.
Speaker A:Why won't you talk to me?
Speaker A:I don't know how to use emojis.
Speaker A:And then Dean just like, tells her like, the worst thing and he just goes too far.
Speaker A:Too far.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Because she's like, I'm, you know, I'm not just a mom and you're not a child.
Speaker B:And he says, I never was.
Speaker B:And between us and them, you made the choice.
Speaker B:So basically I thought it was really telling, like, about Dean's character is that when it's true, when you think back because Mary died and then John started
Speaker A:hunting, you can't tell.
Speaker A:You can't tell a woman to try and be a mom.
Speaker A:Not eu.
Speaker A:Dean Winchester, like, grow the up.
Speaker A:She.
Speaker A:And as we.
Speaker A:She is more than just a mom.
Speaker A:And like, you know, how are you defining that relationship?
Speaker A:Anyhow, so then Dean is just like, it's, you know, it's us or them.
Speaker A:And you already made that choice.
Speaker A:Get the out.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And she tries to appeal to Sam, but he actually pixed the inside.
Speaker B:And he's like, no, I think you should go.
Speaker B:So anyways, so Mary's like in some like, weird, like, barracks Looking like.
Speaker B:I guess it's her assigned cube.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:And Mr. Catch wants to go tell Mitch Mick that they have terminated another nest.
Speaker B:But while they're talking, basically mix.
Speaker B:Like, so, yeah, you got Mary, but what about her boys?
Speaker B:Like, what's up?
Speaker B:And Mr. Catch is like, we don't need them.
Speaker B:We have the best Winchester makes.
Speaker B:Like, yeah, but that's not our call.
Speaker B:The old man wants them all on board.
Speaker A:So they also think that wherever the Winchesters go, that the American hunters are gonna follow that.
Speaker A:And I'm also like, are you sure about that?
Speaker A:This is Sam and Dean Winchester.
Speaker A:They started, like, seven apocalypses.
Speaker A:The hunters don't necessarily like them, but they also do.
Speaker B:Like, if you think about it.
Speaker B:Because, like, it's.
Speaker B:I think that even if they start them, they always fetish them.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:Now it's get fanboyed when they meet other hunters.
Speaker A:So I think it depends.
Speaker A:So I'm just saying that not all hunt.
Speaker A:Oh, not all hunters are fans of the Winchesters.
Speaker B:Oh, I'm sure.
Speaker A:So then we go back to our bunker, where Dean has found a dead body in Akron with his throat ripped out ear to ear.
Speaker A:But Sam takes his laptop and is like, dude, this is just a drug dealer, and his throat was slit.
Speaker A:And, yeah, Dean just wants to hit something.
Speaker B:He really does.
Speaker B:And so Sam's like, instead, do you want to talk about it?
Speaker B:And Dean's like, no.
Speaker B:But then he starts talking about it like he does, and basically, he just wants to know what Mary was thinking.
Speaker B:And Sam's like, well, we could ask her.
Speaker B:And he's like, well, but she lied with.
Speaker B:For good reason.
Speaker B:Maybe so.
Speaker B:But maybe we need to hear her out because she's family.
Speaker B:Is Sam's suggestion.
Speaker B:But Dean calls Sam out for something that's probably kind of true, but he calls him out for being a peacemaker and, you know, straddling the middle.
Speaker B:He needs to pick a side in more things instead of trying to always mediate and leave some.
Speaker B:And then Sam sees a text that he's received from Mary that says that they need to meet because it is urgent.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Which to me, sounds suspicious.
Speaker A:I'd be like, this sounds like a trap for sure.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:But no.
Speaker A:We go to the British Minute Letters compound, and once again, Sam has missed out on using a car from the Men of Letters bunker garage.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:So there's so many choices down there.
Speaker B:You could have picked for real.
Speaker B:So Mary meets him at the gate, and she's like, look, I know I messed up, but The British Men of Letters are bigger than us, and they've got a real shot of getting to a world without monsters, so.
Speaker B:And then y' all can have normal lives.
Speaker B:You go back to college.
Speaker A:You don't have to hunt.
Speaker A:You don't have to have these lives.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And she pitches this different future and about how this is what they're fighting for, and she just wants to show him.
Speaker A:And so she opens up the door, and this is where we can really see how weird ass these con axes are strung together.
Speaker A:And then she takes him in, and they have, like, look at all my Pew Pew maps.
Speaker B:And, like, oh, convenient timing.
Speaker B:We're about to give a briefing.
Speaker B:You should say.
Speaker A:And Sam's gonna split.
Speaker A:But Mitt tips him with, we're gonna talk to you about how we're gonna exterminate every last vampire in America.
Speaker A:And Sam's like, what?
Speaker A:Oh.
Speaker B:So Dean's at the bunker, and he is calling out for Sam, but finds a note.
Speaker B:Just says, like, went out back later.
Speaker B:And he's like, okay, I need booze.
Speaker B:And so Dean is poking around for alcohol.
Speaker B:There's a knock at the door, and we start cutting back and forth from the bunker to the compound now, and.
Speaker B:Because there's no Mr. Catch at the compound, because Mr. Catch is at the bunker to meet Dean, and he's about to close the door on his face.
Speaker B:But Mr. Keshe bribes Dean with a fancy scotch.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker A:So he's.
Speaker A:He's got some scotch to drink, which tempts Dean, and Dean's already drunk, so he lets him in.
Speaker A:And we're gonna go back to the compound, where Mick introduces a hunter out of Baton Rouge named Pierce.
Speaker A:We also meet Alton Moorhead, who's the head of R D. And then we learned that our girl from earlier's full name is Serena Coleman and that she is the head of security and surveillance.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And so Mary sits down to hear the briefing, but Sam's gonna stand.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:But basically, they're.
Speaker B:Serena is sharing their progress with a fancy map of the Midwest showing they've killed all but 11 vampires.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And it's two.
Speaker A:There was 241 vampires in the mid.
Speaker A:The MWR.
Speaker A:The Midwest region.
Speaker A:And on this Pew Pew map, they have cells, and they range from, like, 2 to 16 for age of the vampire cells.
Speaker A:And I did not do the SPM map to see if it added up up to see if there was like, only, like.
Speaker A:So I wonder if somebody did.
Speaker A:I'm sure somebody has, but I did not do that.
Speaker A:Not that big of A nerd.
Speaker A:So they explain how all the vampires are connected all the way to the chain to the top and.
Speaker A:But instead of doing this like the hunters in America were doing, which instead of just charging it on nest, they say that they do this differently and they do recon, assemble a team and wipe them out.
Speaker A:And I would say, at what point are the Winchesters just not doing any research before they go into a vampire's nest?
Speaker A:Like, I'm pretty sure they are also doing recon and learning about them and figuring out who is in there before they.
Speaker A:I don't feel like this is a new.
Speaker B:A new thing.
Speaker B:No, it's.
Speaker A:I think your ADD is new.
Speaker A:I think your tool.
Speaker A:Your tools are taking out these nests and possibly also having the mass amount of surveillance that you have.
Speaker A:Have that is new.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:Your recon is different because you have access to this.
Speaker A:But I mean I.
Speaker A:At the same time, I don't.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker B:That's just.
Speaker A:That kind of bugged me.
Speaker B:I agree.
Speaker B:Because they're not.
Speaker B:I mean like the pro.
Speaker B:The.
Speaker B:The concept is not different.
Speaker B:I fully agree.
Speaker B:I think there was one interesting line I thought where they said that the U.
Speaker B:The U. S. Hunters treat them like criminals and the British Men of letters treat them like terrorists.
Speaker B:Not that, I mean, but I think that doesn't change the tactic necessarily, but maybe it changes the approach, like the mentality.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:I thought it was an interesting comment.
Speaker A:He's making a comment.
Speaker A:But also if you're to say you're treating them like terrorist cells.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:And that's.
Speaker A:And so you're.
Speaker B:But they're saying interconnected and stuff like that.
Speaker B:I think that was the part.
Speaker A:Yeah, I think it's more the interconnected part.
Speaker B:I.
Speaker A:But there's also at some point too, like, like vampire lore starts going crossing between shows and I was like, wait a minute.
Speaker A:So you can't.
Speaker A:In this one, if I kill a vampire, that whole line does.
Speaker B:Doesn't go out.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:I have to like.
Speaker A:No, that's not this one.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:So I know.
Speaker B:I had to.
Speaker B:I remember that too.
Speaker B:I was like, wait a minute.
Speaker A:I don't.
Speaker A:Okay, so they're meeting vampires are.
Speaker A:Are in Wichita, Kansas and they're convenient.
Speaker A:Conveniently in Wichita, Kansas.
Speaker B:Of course.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:And they think that they're all super safe hiding in this motel, but they have an avd, an anti vamp device ready.
Speaker B:Is that what it was called?
Speaker A:Yes, an av.
Speaker A:An avd Again, there is an ointment for that.
Speaker B:There is an ointment for that.
Speaker B:And so there we go.
Speaker B:And then when they're done, they're going to move on to the next region until there's no bloodsuckers left in America.
Speaker B:And somehow this turned into the song from Fievel in my head.
Speaker B:Where there's.
Speaker B:There are no cats in America, so there are no vamps in America.
Speaker B:And the streets are lined with cheese.
Speaker B:You're welcome.
Speaker B:Thank you.
Speaker B:Thank you for that.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So we're going to the Morris Motel, and this woman vampire, her name is Chris, she comes in, and she's crying about how they're all dead.
Speaker A:Her whole nest is.
Speaker B:Is dead.
Speaker A:And another vamp is there whose name we never do learn.
Speaker A:And he gives her blood to drink in a cup.
Speaker B:And then all we hear, he's like, we're at all fortress.
Speaker B:No one gets in without me knowing.
Speaker B:But the Alpha.
Speaker A:I'm the ooze here, but the alpha vamp.
Speaker B:Hello, children.
Speaker A:Being all smooth as usual.
Speaker A:And so we go from him to.
Speaker A:He's smiling, and it's, oh, so cute.
Speaker A:And we go from there to the bunker where they're drinking scotch, and my stomach is just churning.
Speaker A:And Dean doesn't like small talk.
Speaker A:And catch is like, I'm the one who predicted Tony would go rogue.
Speaker A:And he.
Speaker A:He did that because he used to date.
Speaker B:Date her.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So he knew that she was gonna be a neurotic time bomb.
Speaker B:And Dean's like.
Speaker B:And he's like, I don't really care if you join or die, but we're an excellent fit.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:Especially for someone that had the killer instincts that can't sit still and wants to hit something or kill something all the time.
Speaker A:Well, he tries to bond with him over being a psychotic killer and always eating something to punch or kill.
Speaker A:And it's really legit.
Speaker A:Dean should think twice about, like, his.
Speaker A:Some of his actions.
Speaker A:If.
Speaker A:If this man is sitting over here.
Speaker A:I like to just kill things.
Speaker A:And you were just like me.
Speaker A:And he's not wrong.
Speaker B:Warning.
Speaker B:Some little alarm bells should be going off.
Speaker A:Yeah, you should maybe thinking about some of your actions.
Speaker A:And Catch is gonna leave, but he's like, I've got a vamp nug to drop for you.
Speaker B:Of course.
Speaker B:And of course, now Dean's interest.
Speaker B:Dean's attention has been piqued, and he would like to go along with.
Speaker B:So back at the compound, Pierce, the hunter from Louisiana is fanboying over Sam, and apparently he heard about him from Rufus, and they did a job together.
Speaker B:And then Alton's like, I've got questions for you.
Speaker B:And Mary and Mick's trying to talk to Sam and ask his thoughts on things.
Speaker B:And Sam kind of comments on the core quality of hunters.
Speaker B:They're recruiting because he is not stoked on Pierce.
Speaker A:His beers.
Speaker A:Pierce calls himself the hunter king of Baton Rouge.
Speaker A:Yeah, it sounds like.
Speaker A:And this is before.
Speaker A:Before Tiger King.
Speaker A:So this is.
Speaker A:He was the original hunter king.
Speaker A:Look at him go.
Speaker A:And I bet he had some merch.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:But apparently the BMOL cannot attract the top shelf hunters.
Speaker A:Besides me.
Speaker A:Mary.
Speaker A:Mary's the only one dumb enough.
Speaker A:I mean, Mary is the only one who has decided this is a good idea.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:We go back now we're back at the motel, and Dean and Catch shows up.
Speaker A:Show up.
Speaker A:And Mr.
Speaker B:Catches intel is that there's 10 vamps, give or take.
Speaker B:And so we do get a good trunk shot.
Speaker A:But she's messy.
Speaker A:She's kind of messy.
Speaker A:She needs to be cleaned up.
Speaker A:What the hell is going on?
Speaker B:On.
Speaker A:This is why you can't find your and Catches.
Speaker A:Like, oh, my weapon's too easy.
Speaker A:I guess I should also get a machete.
Speaker B:Instead of using my cool weapon, I'm gonna use a machete with you.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:He's trying to bond, right?
Speaker A:So the two of them go in, but we don't get to see that yet.
Speaker A:We have to go back to the.
Speaker A:The embarrassment of letters.
Speaker A:And Mary said she needed Sam to know.
Speaker A:And he is like, this is a pretty good Sam sales pitch.
Speaker A:I'm like, oh, man, he's falling for this.
Speaker A:And we pass all the surveillance screens, and that's when we zoom into the guard outside.
Speaker A:And the guard outside is not having a good day.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker B:He gets attacked by something back at this motel, though, where they.
Speaker B:All these vamp.
Speaker B:The last vamps are supposed to be all, like, huddled up.
Speaker B:Dina, Mr. Catch find one.
Speaker B:And she was like, with all the corpses?
Speaker A:Yeah, it was Chris from earlier.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And she's like, look, I don't know where anybody is.
Speaker B:And so Mr. Catch is, like, violently punching her, trying to question her, and it is not working.
Speaker B:It is an unsuccessful tactic, sir.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker B:Your.
Speaker A:Your torture technique doesn't work.
Speaker A:And Dean has had it.
Speaker A:Finally has had enough of this.
Speaker A:It makes him stop.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And it's like.
Speaker B:And she's like, are you gonna let me go?
Speaker B:And she's like, no, but I'll make it quick instead of, like.
Speaker B:Like, torturing you or beating you to death.
Speaker B:And she's like.
Speaker B:They went hunting.
Speaker B:The hunters hunting the hunters.
Speaker B:So finally, Serena notices that their security guard from the front gate is missing at the compound.
Speaker B:And right then, there's a.
Speaker B:It's actually a funny scene.
Speaker B:It's a funny shot.
Speaker A:Like, I know the guard is dead, but they're using his hand to open up the gate and having to get his hand over over there.
Speaker A:Like, it's just comical.
Speaker A:It takes them a little bit to, like, figure out how to make it work.
Speaker A:And it was kind of.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So apparently they.
Speaker B:All of these.
Speaker B:The remaining vampires are now there.
Speaker B:They have figured out.
Speaker B:And the gate opens, and Sam's like, we need to lock down.
Speaker B:Come on.
Speaker B:Hello.
Speaker B:What's happening?
Speaker B:And security needs to fall back.
Speaker B:So all these orders go out, but it's too late, because as these security guards are trying to back into their little secure areas and lock up up, vampires are getting in around them and behind them.
Speaker B:So Mary and Sam are like, oh, we better figure something out while y' all hide, because y' all don't know how to fight, because you just know technology.
Speaker B:And they are able to decapitate a couple of vampires, but more are getting in.
Speaker B:And they take one.
Speaker B:They could take one back for questioning, but anyways, so Mick's like, what the.
Speaker B:How'd you find us?
Speaker B:How did you know who we are?
Speaker B:And they gets laughed at.
Speaker B:And he's like.
Speaker B:He told us he's come back to save us all.
Speaker A:Our father Alpha, clearly.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And they're like, that's impossible.
Speaker A:The Alphas and Morocco.
Speaker A:And Sam's like, you're wrong, because I met him in Hoople, South Dakota.
Speaker B:Duh.
Speaker B:Everyone knows he's in a hoople, like, five years ago.
Speaker B:Come on.
Speaker B:And the.
Speaker B:The vampire gets killed by Mary.
Speaker A:Well, because he won't shut up.
Speaker A:And Mary cuts off his head.
Speaker B:Well, he was annoying.
Speaker B:That's fair.
Speaker A:And then they said they're gonna try and figure out what to do.
Speaker A:And Mary, again, this is where she's like, who's killed anybody?
Speaker A:And not even Mick has, which is surprising.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:Like, you would think that he'd at least had done some field work, but
Speaker B:no, he is not.
Speaker A:And Pierce raises his hand, so at least we have that douche guy.
Speaker A:So we don't have that.
Speaker A:And they're like.
Speaker A:They don't have.
Speaker A:They're like, let's put our weapons on the table.
Speaker A:And most of their weapons are in the armory, including the avd.
Speaker A:And so, like, well, maybe we can get that and set it off in the vents, and maybe that'll hurt the Alpha.
Speaker A:And Sam's.
Speaker A:At this point, it's like, do we have anything that's, you know, stronger than the avd?
Speaker A:And Mary Just looks at Nick, Mick, and he's like, where is it?
Speaker B:Oh.
Speaker B:And that's why this is happening.
Speaker B:We see a lot of vampires, like, surrounding the building and some getting into the building.
Speaker B:And so Mick opens his.
Speaker B:He gets his fancy suitcase and opens it up, and we have the cult.
Speaker A:And this is when Mary finally tells Sam that she stole the cult from Ramiel, and he's just kind of dumbfounded.
Speaker A:And Mick is just like, well, it doesn't work because we don't have any bullets.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:Yep, I. I've got a recipe from an old friend.
Speaker B:Good old Bobby.
Speaker B:Good old Bobby.
Speaker A:What?
Speaker B:You're gonna need oil, sage, and myrrh.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker A:And do you have any of that?
Speaker A:If not, can I interest you in some artisanal holy oil for sale at our shop?
Speaker B:You make a tincture, and you coat the silver bullets in it.
Speaker B:And he writes down that you have to say this spell.
Speaker B:And he hands it off to Mick because Mary, Sam, and Pierce are gonna go run out into the art to get to the armory while Mick and Serena and Alton try to do.
Speaker B:Make some magic bullets for the cult.
Speaker A:And Pierce is gonna go with them and says he's got their back.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So Sam's fighting vampires, and while he's fighting them, Mary and Pierce run to go the other way to go get the armory.
Speaker B:And Mixerina and Alton do the spell While Dean and Mr. Catch are driving because they realize they need to get back to this compound.
Speaker B:And as Mick is doing the spell, Pierce is at the door by himself, which is super questionable, and says it's bad out there.
Speaker B:And then Alpha kills Alton.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker A:And his heart gets ripped out just by the Alpha.
Speaker A:And Pierce is a traitor.
Speaker B:He said it's bad in here too.
Speaker B:Huh.
Speaker B:Which is actually a really good line.
Speaker A:It was.
Speaker A:It was a good line.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:That.
Speaker B:I appreciate that.
Speaker B:And then Serena gets bitten by the Alpha.
Speaker B:So now it's just Mick holding this cult in the bullets as Sam is still killing vampires.
Speaker A:And there's There is a.
Speaker A:Like, the vamp stick in.
Speaker A:This is really good.
Speaker A:So there's a headless vamp that's just, like, munching at the air, and he's chewy.
Speaker A:I had to watch it twice.
Speaker A:I had to rewind just to watch the.
Speaker A:The vamp is be like the air away from his.
Speaker A:His body.
Speaker B:Well, our.
Speaker B:We find out because Mick is going to ask questions, and Pierce feels like talking.
Speaker B:But basically, he is the Alpha's hunter because he keeps the Alpha off the radar and gets paid for doing that.
Speaker B:So Sketch.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And the Alpha is Upset about how many of his children they have killed.
Speaker A:And he.
Speaker B:And he really just wanted to live quietly, and they.
Speaker B:And he let it go.
Speaker A:But now he knew about it.
Speaker A:But before.
Speaker A:And he knew it was England, and he didn't get involved because it was England, and who gives a but America?
Speaker A:You get off my lawn.
Speaker A:And he really does say, get off my lawn, and it's hilarious.
Speaker A:So good.
Speaker B:So good.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:So Sam does get away and finds Mary on the floor of the armory, unconscious because Pierce knocked her out and damaged.
Speaker B:It looks like he damaged the av.
Speaker A:Something like that.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:But the Alpha is telling Mick that you need to call.
Speaker B:Cancel the hu.
Speaker B:Call off the human incursion.
Speaker B:And then, you know, or call.
Speaker B:I'm sorry, Call your people and call the old men.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:And they can watch.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Phone home and they can watch you get devoured.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Well, he's supposed to first tell them to stop doing what they're doing and then watch him get eaten.
Speaker A:Eaten on camera.
Speaker B:Which seems.
Speaker B:It feels like a call.
Speaker B:Why would you make that call?
Speaker A:I don't think I do.
Speaker A:I think I tell you, like, no, just eat me now or don't eat me.
Speaker A:And I'd probably say, eat me, knowing me so.
Speaker A:Or bite me.
Speaker A:And then be like, damn it.
Speaker A:I just tell the vampire, bite me.
Speaker B:God.
Speaker A:So Sam and Mary get into this room where Mary takes out Pierce, and Sam grabs the cult.
Speaker A:And so he's grabbing his Colt and he's pointing it at the Alpha, and he's like, sam, they're five things the cult can't kill, and I am one of them.
Speaker A:And Sam's like, wait a minute.
Speaker A:No, you're not.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:But anyway, Sam.
Speaker B:And he's like, you can't save all of y'.
Speaker B:All.
Speaker B:And Sam's like, I'm not trying to save all of you.
Speaker B:My family's killed vampires, you know, for years.
Speaker B:And you let.
Speaker B:And you know, and you let us.
Speaker B:So, I don't know.
Speaker B:Let's.
Speaker B:Let's.
Speaker B:And we've let some of them live.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:So why don't you let us go?
Speaker B:Let us walk away, just me and my mom.
Speaker B:We're gonna go.
Speaker B:You're gonna let us leave, and you can go back to the way things used to be.
Speaker B:We hunt.
Speaker B:It's like cops and robbers.
Speaker B:It's a fair fight.
Speaker B:It's fine.
Speaker B:And he's like, what about the Brit?
Speaker B:Yeah, you can have them.
Speaker B:Have them.
Speaker B:Have the Brits and mix them.
Speaker B:Act mix.
Speaker B:Pissed.
Speaker B:And he's like, sam's, like, I'm picking a side.
Speaker B:And we have a kerfuffle.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Mick runs with Sam, and Mary runs at the Alpha, who knocks her aside.
Speaker A:And Sam still has the gun pointed at the Alpha, who's like, but that gun isn't loaded.
Speaker A:But are you sure?
Speaker A:And then we get a flashback to what really happened when Mick read it.
Speaker A:Sam.
Speaker A:And what he did was he gave him a bullet.
Speaker B:It was actually really cool.
Speaker B:And so Mick was secretly slipping Sam a bullet for this whole thing.
Speaker B:So it was all the distraction.
Speaker B:And Sam, the very slow MO the cult, shoots the Alpha.
Speaker B:And it's really cool shot as it goes straight through the Alpha's head.
Speaker A:And he dies.
Speaker B:Boo.
Speaker A:You killed the Alpha.
Speaker A:I like the Alpha.
Speaker B:He's great.
Speaker B:He's.
Speaker A:He's comic relief, and I like him.
Speaker B:It's fun.
Speaker B:Yeah, I know.
Speaker A:He's such a good actor, too.
Speaker A:And I'm just kind of bumpy, so I'm just like.
Speaker A:I just really.
Speaker A:And also just like the Alphas in general.
Speaker A:So Alpha dies.
Speaker A:We've got crossover.
Speaker A:See a dead Serena.
Speaker A:And Mary comes in and tells Mick that she took out some stragglers, but the rest ran.
Speaker A:But they took out the Alpha.
Speaker A:Because once again, in this series, when you kill the Alpha, the rest of the vampires don't die.
Speaker A:No matter how much we think that that.
Speaker A:Because isn't that happened with the werewolves in the show?
Speaker A:It happens with one line of something.
Speaker A:And I'm the lore person.
Speaker A:I should know that.
Speaker B:But there's so many lores and so many fantasy things that we watch.
Speaker A:It's so hard to keep sometimes.
Speaker A:Sometimes it does.
Speaker A:Sometimes they kind of go back.
Speaker A:So Dean and Catch are now back.
Speaker A:And Catch is like, well, Mick, you blocked me with Dean.
Speaker A:Way to go.
Speaker A:Like, I could have had this.
Speaker A:We could have had this moment going.
Speaker A:But yeah.
Speaker B:And Mr. Catch is like, I was just following orders and mix.
Speaker B:Like.
Speaker B:But people died.
Speaker B:And like, Miscreant's like, yeah, that's in our line of work.
Speaker B:That's what happens.
Speaker B:People die, but whatever.
Speaker B:So Mr. Catch and Mick obviously have some disagreements on tactics.
Speaker A:Maybe they used to date, too.
Speaker A:So d. Like, we go from that to Dean telling Sam that they heard the place was under attack and they got there as fast as they could.
Speaker A:And Sam's just like, why?
Speaker B:Like, why would you come here?
Speaker B:And obviously for mom, but yeah, still.
Speaker B:And he's like, look, it's not hurting.
Speaker B:Until he's like, look, it's not.
Speaker B:Not your job to make our lunch.
Speaker B:We are adults.
Speaker B:We make our own Choices.
Speaker B:We just have to get used to it.
Speaker B:Oh, thanks, Dean.
Speaker A:Way to be a grown up.
Speaker B:So we see Mr. Catch leading Pierce out because he is not dead.
Speaker B:But they have unpleasant ways to take care of rogue hunters.
Speaker B:And the Winchesters are pleased with that answer.
Speaker A:I don't know how I feel about that.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:Like I. Yeah, I feel like there's a moral line of giving someone to the Men of Letters, but anyhow.
Speaker A:So Mick comes out and tries to talk his way out of things and just thinks he's just gonna have to kind of keep like dancing around.
Speaker A:But Sam is just in.
Speaker B:He says, I'm in after tonight.
Speaker B:Tonight was bad.
Speaker B:But the Alpha's dead and I just need time to get Dean to buy him.
Speaker B:And he.
Speaker A:They are changing the world and he wants to be a part of it.
Speaker A:And that's just terrifying.
Speaker A:And so Sam wants to join up.
Speaker A:He's gonna give.
Speaker A:Give him some time.
Speaker A:He'll work on Dean.
Speaker A:And Sam walks back over to Sam.
Speaker A:And that's how it ends.
Speaker A:With the three of them talking over by baby.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Because it always goes so well when the Winchesters are divided.
Speaker B:And especially when they don't tell each other that they have different plans.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So before we'll break into go over that a little bit.
Speaker A:So why don't we talk about some of the people who played the things.
Speaker B:Sure.
Speaker A:Casting couch.
Speaker A:It's the casting couch.
Speaker C:Were they on that show that time with that guy?
Speaker B:LA Pierce Moncrief was played by Aaron Douglas.
Speaker B:He's been in a lot of stuff, actually.
Speaker B:He's in episodes of Smallville, Falling Skies, X Files, the Flash, Once Upon a Time I Zombie, Van Helsing and Resident Alien and more.
Speaker B:He's also a deputy in Final Destination 2 Paparazzi and Lizzie McGuire Movie Paramedic in the movie Saved Casino, Stickmin in Walking Tall, a young soldier in Chronicles of Riddick, attorney in iRobot, a detective in Catwoman movie along with Halle Berry.
Speaker B:Young father in White Noise, the horror movie A D A in the Exorcism of Emily Rose.
Speaker B:He is Chief Galen Tyrell in all of the Battlestar Galacticas.
Speaker B:That's like hundreds of episodes all in of everything when movies, all the spin offs and stuff.
Speaker B:He's Bill in Hellcats as a repeat character.
Speaker B:Sid in Murder in a Small Town as a repeat character.
Speaker B:And he is going to be in at least one episode of Vault Rising.
Speaker B:Nice.
Speaker B:Serena comes out.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Serena Coleman was played by Sunita Prasad.
Speaker B:She's been in episodes of Smallville Fringe Almost Human, Bates Motel I Zombie, Unreal Magicians, Travelers, Ex X Files, Good Doctor, Nancy Drew in School Spirits.
Speaker B:She is Rouhani in.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Rouhani in the Day the Earth Stood still and has done a lot of Hallmark movies.
Speaker B:Alton Moorhead was played by Burkett Turton.
Speaker B:He was been in episodes of X Files, Smallville 24, Fringe, Flash, Jessica Jones, Magicians, Riverdale a few times, Nancy Drew, the Good Doctor and Murder in a Small Town.
Speaker B:He's also in the movie Saved as Mitch.
Speaker B:He is.
Speaker B:He was in Walking Tall also.
Speaker B:I always love the crossovers in the same episode.
Speaker B:Dingo in Blade Trinity and he was a guard in Wrath of the Titans and he is vampire Steve in iZombies.
Speaker B:Reoccurring character.
Speaker A:Fun.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So good.
Speaker B:It was an entertaining cast.
Speaker B:I'm kind of sad those two characters don't carry over.
Speaker A:Yeah, no, they could have been interesting.
Speaker A:But I mean, like, it depends on how much we want to devote to the BMOLs.
Speaker B:That's true.
Speaker A:You know, how much.
Speaker A:I mean, how much would be setting up for Spin off and stuff.
Speaker B:But.
Speaker A:So what'd you think of the episode?
Speaker B:So I thought it was kind of.
Speaker B:I thought it was cool because as a viewer, you see the flaws.
Speaker B:Like, we could see more of the flaws and the sketchiness of the British metal letters.
Speaker B:I think it was interesting to show the.
Speaker B:The monsters fight back, I guess, is another way.
Speaker B:And then.
Speaker B:But also it was super frustrating watching the Winchesters split up like this.
Speaker B:Not physically, but like they're on different teams, if you will.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:I mean, I don't know if we're.
Speaker A:I mean, that's kind of how we ended.
Speaker A:And we'll see where we end up going with that.
Speaker A:But it's also this.
Speaker A:This speech that the British Men of Letters that they're giving that Mary has been bought into.
Speaker A:Bought into.
Speaker A:But Sam is now saying, yes, this is also a whole.
Speaker A:We exterminate all the monsters.
Speaker A:And the.
Speaker A:What has been lacking in British minute letter conversations have.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And Mary with vampires specifically is we know that not all vampires are bad.
Speaker A:We've.
Speaker A:We've met them on the show.
Speaker A:So we've.
Speaker A:And we've dealt with the moral quandary before of monsters not being black and white.
Speaker A:And you know that it's.
Speaker A:There is a moral gray.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And I know they don't.
Speaker B:They don't.
Speaker B:They don't address that at all.
Speaker B:I think that the Winchesters have done a really good job so far.
Speaker B:Sam and Dean have dealt with.
Speaker B:Not somewhat.
Speaker A:We've gone back if we had to deal with it frustratingly enough that it's, it's topic of conversation that why are we just ignoring this and just going forth and just we want a world where there's no, there's no monsters and
Speaker B:sometimes the monsters start human and don't want to be monsters.
Speaker B:And what if there's a conversation about that?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Is there stance just to kill everybody that's possessed and not try to exercise it?
Speaker B:Like, I don't know, there's things like that.
Speaker A:Like, well, I mean clearly we're gonna have that conversation that we are having that conversation with a spawn of Lucifer.
Speaker A:As you know, we had that come up with Kelly Klein, the nurture versus nature versus nurture conversation with is this, is this being automatically going to be evil and just automatically exterminating all the like, exterminating all the vampires?
Speaker A:Doesn't seem like, I don't know, like there seems to be like some thought in this and I.
Speaker A:As for you, whether one of the many reasons I don't like the British Mendel letters, but they do have cool toys.
Speaker B:They do have cool toys.
Speaker A:Anything else?
Speaker A:All right, cheers.
Speaker B:Jerk.
Speaker B:Cheers.
