Speaker A:

On this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast, we've got one Grimoire, two Plum.

Speaker B:

Sisters, three steps, and fifth base.

Speaker B:

Let's do this.

Speaker B:

Welcome to this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.

Speaker B:

I'm Diana.

Speaker A:

I'm Liz.

Speaker B:

And we're going to talk about season 13, episode 12, various and sundry Villains.

Speaker A:

I don't know why they named it that.

Speaker B:

I don't either.

Speaker A:

There was nothing in the wiki about it.

Speaker A:

And I just feel like it's a title he came up with.

Speaker A:

I mean, this is the one that he.

Speaker A:

The writer is Steve Yoki and he's Yaqui and he's the one that always had, like the names in it.

Speaker A:

So he had the celebrity life of Asa Fox and Lily Sunder and Tasha Payne's and then he went to advanced anatology in this season and so now we're at Various and sundry Villains.

Speaker A:

So I don't know what his theme is and I don't get it.

Speaker A:

That's okay.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it's fine.

Speaker A:

What have you.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

What have you been up to?

Speaker B:

I've been.

Speaker B:

I guess I've been busy, but not.

Speaker B:

I don't know how else to say.

Speaker B:

I feel like I had, like, finally had some chill time and.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I don't.

Speaker B:

I don't have anything crazy to share.

Speaker B:

I got caught up on school spirits finally.

Speaker B:

That's my big excitement.

Speaker B:

And went to some cute vintage and like resale shops in the suburbs this weekend and so shout out to Alice Bowie, super cute vintage store.

Speaker B:

And that's about all I got.

Speaker B:

Nothing.

Speaker B:

I'm busy with work or trying to relax and do around the house, like not exciting life, just pool time when I can.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

You know, that's called life.

Speaker A:

That's normal.

Speaker B:

I know.

Speaker B:

And most people, all the things.

Speaker A:

Most people are not going to rock and roll concerts night, Diana.

Speaker A:

Most people just kind of go to work and go home and that's what they do.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it's called weird for me.

Speaker A:

I know it's weird.

Speaker B:

How about you?

Speaker B:

What are you up to?

Speaker A:

Oh, just hanging around, literally.

Speaker A:

And so it's just aerial stuff right now.

Speaker A:

The Texas aerial gather.

Speaker A:

Aerial, is it?

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Texas Aerial gathering is this weekend at my gym and other local gym.

Speaker A:

So there's going to be a bunch of workshops and people are coming in from all over the state and some of them from out of state to do.

Speaker A:

To come hang.

Speaker A:

Come hang out, literally and, and do all this stuff.

Speaker A:

So it should be interesting.

Speaker A:

It's the first one of its kind and I have no idea what to expect except they have some social gatherings and I probably won't be going to the social gatherings just because they don't fit into my schedule.

Speaker A:

But they.

Speaker A:

They're late at night and so I'd have to get mother care.

Speaker A:

I don't say child care, but you know, so anyways.

Speaker A:

But it should be interesting to have that new people around.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Add some new flavors to what's going on.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So that's all that's going on in my life.

Speaker C:

Nothing.

Speaker A:

Nothing else is really happening.

Speaker B:

So just being hot as outside, it's.

Speaker A:

A dog days of summer.

Speaker A:

It's where we're at.

Speaker A:

And nothing's really going on in the boys land.

Speaker A:

I check their feeds.

Speaker A:

Nothing.

Speaker A:

Nothing.

Speaker A:

Nothing there either.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it's that time of year.

Speaker B:

It is.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So it's.

Speaker A:

Let's just talk about this episode.

Speaker A:

,:

Speaker A:

And it was directed by Amanda Tapping, who we know as the angel Naomi and.

Speaker A:

Or as I like to call her Naomi.

Speaker A:

And so she was on the show for quite a while and last directed last season's episode 19, the Future.

Speaker A:

And then we already talked about who this was written by.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So when we get into our recap, we start off with Rowena.

Speaker A:

We get the black grimoire Dean was cursed.

Speaker A:

She gave the book back to Sam.

Speaker A:

Lucifer brutally murdered.

Speaker A:

Rowena.

Speaker A:

Lucifer's grace being taken by Michael and Asmod.

Speaker A:

Asmodeus collected Castiel and Lucifer.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And we're going to Wichita, Kansas, just.

Speaker B:

North of Wichita on I135.

Speaker B:

And we've got this long haired dudes buying beer or liquor at the liquor store.

Speaker B:

And he knows the clerk who's reading his gun magazine, but there's two cute.

Speaker B:

He sees two cute chicks giggling an aisle over in the security mirror.

Speaker B:

And so he's gonna go say hi to them.

Speaker B:

And as one of them walks by him and slips something in his pocket.

Speaker B:

And so we know this is bad news immediately.

Speaker A:

Yeah, it's just like, you know, when you're not pickpocketing, when you're.

Speaker A:

What is the opposite of pickpocketing?

Speaker A:

Is that pock picking?

Speaker B:

Pocket picking?

Speaker C:

I don't.

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

No pocket pushing.

Speaker B:

Sure.

Speaker A:

So she does.

Speaker A:

She does the opposite of whatever pickpocketing is and puts.

Speaker A:

Puts in a hex bag in there while the other one says some Latin, which is also never a good sign.

Speaker B:

No, not at all.

Speaker B:

If someone does that to you, you're in danger.

Speaker A:

Danger.

Speaker B:

And his eyes shimmer and he looks at one of the girls and it has basically like, just sees like super like rose colored glasses kind of vibes.

Speaker B:

And we get some sexy sex music playing.

Speaker A:

His eyes go pink.

Speaker A:

Pink.

Speaker A:

So it's like, you know, there's a whole bunch of eye stuff in this episode.

Speaker A:

So his eyes go pink and he's in love.

Speaker A:

And the girl starts talking him, is up talking him up.

Speaker A:

And his name is Dale and.

Speaker A:

Oh, Dale.

Speaker A:

And she's Jamie and that's her sister Jenny.

Speaker A:

And they're on their way to Lebanon, Kansas.

Speaker A:

And he has never heard of it, which is surprising because they were Wichita and Kansas isn't that big.

Speaker A:

It's just not.

Speaker B:

Yeah, but they're out of gas money and they want him to be their hero.

Speaker B:

And that doesn't mean filling them up or giving them money for gas.

Speaker B:

They want him to take all of the money from the register and a couple of bottles of good vodka and meet them outside.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker B:

And he's like, well, what about Marty, his friend who works there?

Speaker B:

And she just says, what about him?

Speaker B:

And kisses him on the cheek.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

The next we see Marty go through the door.

Speaker B:

Yeah, poor Marty.

Speaker B:

And Dale is walking outside victorious with a bag of money and booze.

Speaker B:

But Jamie has his sledgehammer, you know, for protection.

Speaker B:

Yeah, because that's what.

Speaker B:

That's what all girls carry for protection.

Speaker B:

Right?

Speaker A:

I don't know what you have in your purse.

Speaker B:

And they're like, yeah, a guy in there just got killed.

Speaker B:

It was pretty funny.

Speaker B:

It was a really funny, like, side comment anyways.

Speaker B:

But that means Marty's dead.

Speaker B:

But just sad too.

Speaker B:

He's not just thrown, like knocked out through the window, but.

Speaker B:

But Dale is in love.

Speaker B:

But Jamie's already forgotten his name.

Speaker B:

And they share their mom's three steps for looking out for themselves.

Speaker B:

And that is always look your best, never get attached to a man, and always make the death look non magical so you don't attract hunters.

Speaker A:

Makes sense to me.

Speaker A:

And then Jamie kills Dale with the sledgehammer.

Speaker B:

Yeah, well, Jenny counts the money because that's all that matters.

Speaker B:

You know, important things.

Speaker A:

So we go from there to the bunker and Dean has brought out some reading material.

Speaker A:

And it's all the books that talk about alternate realities.

Speaker A:

And Sam is still in a mood.

Speaker B:

Yeah, he's just not optimistic.

Speaker B:

With Jack gone, he's literally an alternate reality.

Speaker B:

And Dean's like, look, we're gonna find him or, you know, or we'll just figure out a plan B.

Speaker B:

We just.

Speaker B:

We just got to put our Heads down and do the work.

Speaker B:

Oh dear.

Speaker B:

Motivational speaker.

Speaker A:

So he gives it after that pep top.

Speaker A:

He's.

Speaker A:

He's going to do his next thing, which is go on a beer run and.

Speaker A:

But maybe though, they should fill Cass in at some point.

Speaker A:

And Sam's just like, what's the point?

Speaker A:

We'll do it when they calls.

Speaker A:

He checks in every day and then they show Cass at the jail cell.

Speaker B:

And we're like, oh, but that's interesting.

Speaker B:

So Cass has.

Speaker B:

Cas has been checking in every day while he's been in the jail cell.

Speaker B:

That's how far Asmodeus went.

Speaker C:

That's.

Speaker A:

Well, you think about it.

Speaker A:

He's also keeping tabs on them too.

Speaker B:

That's true.

Speaker B:

Because he said.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker B:

What they're doing.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it's true.

Speaker B:

They said that he has a lot of questions and not a lot of info these days.

Speaker B:

Clever.

Speaker B:

Clever.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So we go to where they're holding Lucifer and Cass in these jail sales.

Speaker A:

Sales J.

Speaker A:

Jail cells.

Speaker A:

And a demon comes by Lucifer cell and they call him Dipper.

Speaker A:

And then there's some penis jokes.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Then Lucifer grabs the bar and it zaps him.

Speaker A:

And Lucifer does not like Dipper.

Speaker B:

No, he doesn't at all.

Speaker B:

He says he's not nice, but he's also talking about he's not nice, that if he has a little more power, he'll tear this place apart.

Speaker B:

So Cass is just kind of sitting there and he's just like, they know you don't have power, so this isn't.

Speaker B:

Doesn't really work.

Speaker B:

But Lucifer still wants some of Cass's grace.

Speaker B:

That's his answer.

Speaker B:

So that he can then kill Dipper because he really hates Dipper.

Speaker B:

And Cassiel just like Cassio's kind of like, oh, you know, it's like being a cannibal, eating the grace.

Speaker B:

It's kind of a weird term.

Speaker B:

Like way he tries to flip it, but Lucifer is just flipping it back to.

Speaker B:

There is no I in team because he wants to be on Cass's team for this.

Speaker B:

So either way, they're talking about Asmodeus and.

Speaker B:

But he doesn't know where Asmodeus got his shape shifting power.

Speaker B:

Which is interesting that that is something that Lucifer did not grant him.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

And he also says that Asmodeus was his weakest creation.

Speaker A:

So Cass points out that Lucifer just said he was too weak to overcome even his weakest creation.

Speaker A:

And then Lucifer tells Cass, you shut the up and go back to yourself.

Speaker A:

And so we go from there to Kansas, where Dean is walking down the street with some beer.

Speaker A:

And you.

Speaker A:

I. Y' all need to buy more than six.

Speaker A:

Six pack at a time.

Speaker A:

This is way more than this.

Speaker A:

Like, I mean.

Speaker A:

I mean, I guess maybe get you out of the bunker to go pick up some more.

Speaker A:

But there's two of you.

Speaker A:

One of you is the size of a Mack truck.

Speaker A:

I can't imagine, you know, how many beers it probably takes to get Sam Winchester buzzed.

Speaker B:

Oh, my gosh.

Speaker B:

Well, and as much as they drink, like, oh, you're gonna have three each.

Speaker B:

Is that what.

Speaker B:

Is that what we're gonna do?

Speaker B:

When are you going back to store?

Speaker A:

Tomorrow.

Speaker B:

Later today.

Speaker A:

How's this gonna work?

Speaker A:

So how do they not have beer guts?

Speaker A:

Anyways, so beyond that, Dean hears some crying.

Speaker A:

And here's some crying for help.

Speaker A:

So of course he's gonna go running.

Speaker A:

And her coat is so cool.

Speaker B:

And we've got our witchy sisters, Jamie and Jenny.

Speaker B:

One Jamie is laying on the ground pretending to be unconscious.

Speaker B:

And Jenny is like, oh, help.

Speaker B:

A hex bag slipped in his pocket.

Speaker B:

A magic word whispered.

Speaker B:

His eyes shimmer.

Speaker B:

And Jenny suggests that maybe a kiss to wake up.

Speaker B:

True love.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So now we got some non consensual kissing happening.

Speaker A:

Even though Jamie seems to be down for it.

Speaker B:

He doesn't know.

Speaker B:

It seems pretty consensual for her.

Speaker A:

It's just like, this is a random person you just met on the street.

Speaker A:

You're just gonna start kissing.

Speaker B:

Doesn't even meet her.

Speaker B:

She's unconscious.

Speaker A:

Is it just like some, like, dead girl leg?

Speaker A:

Okay, I guess I kiss you now.

Speaker A:

So she wakes up and she asks if he is Dean Winchester.

Speaker A:

So she knows who he is.

Speaker A:

And he is feeling good.

Speaker A:

Real good.

Speaker B:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker B:

And then we get Dean entering the bunker with beer.

Speaker B:

And he is whistling.

Speaker B:

And he is a happy.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, you know what?

Speaker B:

I think you're right.

Speaker B:

I think we should call Cass.

Speaker B:

Then he's like, wait.

Speaker B:

Are you okay?

Speaker B:

And Dean is in love.

Speaker B:

He calls himself full on Twitter, painted.

Speaker B:

But apparently he describes his new love as sweet and beautiful.

Speaker B:

And he is going to ask her to move into the bunker.

Speaker B:

And as he's talking, he is unwrapping the black grimoire.

Speaker B:

It's a gift.

Speaker A:

It's a gift for Jamie because she's his soulmate.

Speaker A:

And she even asked for the book by name.

Speaker A:

So that seems like it's some kind of cosmic fate, you know?

Speaker A:

And Sam's just like, oh, my God, I know what this is.

Speaker A:

Don't you remember Becky and Vegas?

Speaker A:

And Gene says he does not know.

Speaker A:

He does not remember Becky in Vegas.

Speaker B:

And Dean continues to tell Sam to be nice because she's got a sister and they might fall in love and the less attractive siblings being together might be kind of cute.

Speaker A:

So Sam will let Dean leave.

Speaker A:

So he punches him out.

Speaker A:

Dean brings the girls the book, but Jenny is upset that he bring baby because she wanted the car.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Jamie then tells Dean to close his eyes because good boys get a kiss.

Speaker A:

And she's got the sledgehammer ready to go.

Speaker A:

And she's about to whack in when here comes Sam squealing into the parking lot.

Speaker A:

Sam pulls out a gun and Dean tackles him.

Speaker A:

And the girls decide to case to take off in case the one with the hair wins,.

Speaker B:

Which was really funny.

Speaker B:

I appreciate that line.

Speaker B:

So they're.

Speaker B:

They get in their Volvo and drive away while Sam and Dean are wrestling and fighting on the ground.

Speaker B:

Sam manages to find the hex bag and throw it away, but that is not sufficient.

Speaker B:

Dean puts him in a chokehold and says, I'm sorry, but I love her so much.

Speaker B:

And then we have like a spark thing hits them and the hex bag turns pink.

Speaker B:

And we hear clicky clack of high heels and see some red boots walking up.

Speaker B:

Stunning boots.

Speaker A:

Just stunning red stiletto boots.

Speaker B:

Really pretty boots.

Speaker A:

And who is wearing them?

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker A:

But Rowena.

Speaker B:

Hello, boys.

Speaker A:

Yay, Everett.

Speaker A:

So looking ever so amazing.

Speaker A:

Rowena is back.

Speaker A:

And so we go from there to our jail and Dipper tells Cass that they have forgotten about him.

Speaker A:

The boss has big plans for him when he gets back.

Speaker B:

And Lucifer's like, yeah, there's.

Speaker B:

We're all going to be dead though, because Michael's going to murder everybody when he gets here.

Speaker B:

And Cass is like, if.

Speaker B:

Anyway, so he tell.

Speaker B:

He shares.

Speaker B:

Lucifer shares that.

Speaker B:

Every version of my dick brother.

Speaker B:

It doesn't matter the cost or who dies.

Speaker B:

It's just how he rolls.

Speaker B:

He calls him his dick brother.

Speaker B:

But anyways, so they're discussing how much time they have, but, you know, Lucifer just depends how much time Michael spends torturing Mary.

Speaker B:

And I don't know if he's like, actually means this or if he's just really trying to convince Cast by appealing to him.

Speaker A:

He's with Cass.

Speaker A:

And because he's just like, he's never.

Speaker A:

And Cass is just like, stop him.

Speaker A:

And they start debating about what lying is.

Speaker A:

So that's why I think he was lying.

Speaker A:

And then Cass was just like, if you want some truth, I'm gonna drop some knowledge about your son.

Speaker A:

He likes movies where the Good guys win.

Speaker A:

He's thoughtful.

Speaker A:

He's emotional.

Speaker A:

He's remarkably intuitive.

Speaker A:

In fact, he just resurrected me out of instinct.

Speaker A:

He didn't even have to, like, get a playbook or anything.

Speaker A:

That's how cool your son is.

Speaker A:

And then Cass is like, I'm gonna twist this knife a little more.

Speaker A:

He doesn't even look like you.

Speaker A:

He reminds me of his mom.

Speaker A:

And Lucifer gets so mad that he swings his arm and the stick moves.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So he.

Speaker B:

He has more magic when he's pissed.

Speaker B:

That's what we've learned.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Magic power.

Speaker A:

Power.

Speaker A:

I guess.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

Ruh.

Speaker B:

Ro.

Speaker B:

So, back in the bunker, we've got Sam and Dean in Rowena, and they are asking how she's alive because Lucifer explained how he killed her graphically to them.

Speaker B:

And she's like, yeah, that happened, but I took precautions.

Speaker B:

I just temporarily died.

Speaker B:

It just took, you know, a long time.

Speaker B:

And now I need the Black Grimoire.

Speaker B:

That's what I need.

Speaker A:

She does it.

Speaker A:

She doesn't want to go through that pain again.

Speaker A:

And she put a tracking spell on it in a moment of weakness.

Speaker A:

And the reason that she really wants it is because the Grand Coven casts a binding spell that limits her power.

Speaker A:

And she thinks there's a spell in the Black Grimoire which could help her.

Speaker B:

And Dean's like, that's fun.

Speaker B:

We don't want you to be stronger, though, so I don't know how that's gonna work.

Speaker B:

Then Rowena's like, look, I'm afraid they're gonna actually damage this book, those girls, so.

Speaker B:

And Sam and Dean are worried they're gonna do bad things with the book, so maybe they can help each other.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, no, no.

Speaker B:

We've handled witches before.

Speaker B:

We don't really need you.

Speaker B:

And she's like, oh, no.

Speaker A:

I've changed.

Speaker B:

Change?

Speaker B:

I've changed.

Speaker B:

After having my skull crushed and being burned alive.

Speaker B:

I mean, I could change a person.

Speaker A:

It could.

Speaker A:

And there's always whatever they show her disturbing little body, like.

Speaker A:

Like, dissolve, shriveled up.

Speaker A:

It really gets me.

Speaker A:

But besides that, she points out that it's her tracking spell, so she wants.

Speaker A:

They want to find the girls, that they need her.

Speaker A:

Also, where is her son?

Speaker B:

Oh.

Speaker A:

So before they have to answer that uncomfortable question, we cut back to a heart.

Speaker A:

We cut to a hardware store.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And Jenny and Jamie are gathering things in a basket.

Speaker B:

And Jenny's sharing that she can't read parts of the Grimoire.

Speaker B:

It's not because it's too complicated.

Speaker B:

It's because it's so Old.

Speaker B:

There's symbols in there that their mom never mentioned or taught them about.

Speaker B:

And so they'd have to improvise.

Speaker B:

And the clerk at the store aggressively asks if they're going to pay for their basket of things this time.

Speaker B:

And they are not thrilled with her.

Speaker A:

Well, Brenda is pretty fun.

Speaker A:

I like her because she's reading on Cat magazine.

Speaker A:

And one of them.

Speaker A:

I don't know, I didn't know if it was Jenny or Jamie.

Speaker A:

Reminds, like, thank you for telling.

Speaker A:

Reminding us how shopping works, which I also thought was a fun.

Speaker A:

A fun, great thing.

Speaker A:

So anyways, so Ginny thinks the spell needs a soul.

Speaker A:

Jamie says, okay.

Speaker A:

And they eyeball an employee.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

From there, we cut back to the bunker, where Rowena has now learned that Crowley is dead.

Speaker B:

Or as she calls him, Fergus, obviously.

Speaker B:

And Dean's and Sam are explaining how he changed so much.

Speaker B:

He killed him.

Speaker B:

He got killed.

Speaker B:

He let himself get killed for us.

Speaker B:

He's changed a lot.

Speaker B:

And she would be proud.

Speaker B:

And she's like, no, that was my only child.

Speaker B:

I would rather have a living son who hated me than a dead hero.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

And they're like, well, that's.

Speaker B:

He.

Speaker B:

He helped us get, you know, Lucifer trapped in the other reality.

Speaker B:

So that's good.

Speaker B:

That's good, right?

Speaker B:

And she's like, no, Lucifer's never gone.

Speaker B:

So there we go.

Speaker B:

So they're gonna talk about the Grimoire and what the chicks that these girls can do with it.

Speaker B:

And she's like, they have to have a plan.

Speaker B:

And I give them credit because they out foxed y' all big time.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And then she asked Dean if they got to fifth base.

Speaker A:

And Dean says, that isn't a thing.

Speaker A:

And Rorina calls him sheltered poor Dean Manchester, not knowing about fifth base.

Speaker A:

So Marina says, also, maybe she helps them.

Speaker A:

They'll change minds about helping her.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So we cut back to.

Speaker B:

Jamie and Jenny are at a house and there is a dead lady who is their.

Speaker B:

We figure out is their mom on a table.

Speaker B:

And they've got the book and they got a bunch of candles.

Speaker B:

And Jenny's just not sure because she's having trouble with the spell, having trouble reading the Grimoire because of how it's written.

Speaker B:

And Jamie is like, look, maybe it's time we just make a phone call.

Speaker B:

And they're like, no, we're not.

Speaker B:

Jenny's like, no, we're not asking for help.

Speaker B:

We'll figure this out.

Speaker B:

So they've got, you know, they're looking at photos of them with their mom because they are trying to bring her back because apparently she was an amazing witch and it.

Speaker B:

She deserves to be alive and that only this book can bring her back.

Speaker B:

And so they're gonna cry because they miss their mom, which is very sad, except that they are gonna have to go through every spell and.

Speaker B:

And crush skulls to do it.

Speaker A:

But yeah.

Speaker A:

And so after we have this heartwarming I believe in you speech in between us, we hear it.

Speaker A:

I believe in you too, Jenny.

Speaker A:

And we find out that the hardware store guy is there.

Speaker A:

And Jenny then grabs a knife out of a mix of knives that asks if they still need a soul.

Speaker A:

And she goes and she stabs him in the heart.

Speaker B:

Yeah, he just sits there and bleeds.

Speaker B:

It's weird.

Speaker A:

Yeah, he's weird.

Speaker B:

So Sam, Dean and Rowena arrive in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where she has tracked the book too.

Speaker B:

So she explains that it's not like gps, but she knows it's in this vicinity and it's not moving.

Speaker B:

So Dean's going to be like, okay, Sam and Rowena, you stay here.

Speaker B:

I'm going to go ask around.

Speaker B:

And Rowena suggests that she that he start with women as her best guess is that the girls aren't popular with other ladies.

Speaker A:

I can see that.

Speaker B:

I can see that.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

And we cut back to the the prison where Dipper and is visiting Castiel and Lucifer.

Speaker B:

And he walks in on Castiel telling Lucifer that he's impotent and unnecessary and will die alone.

Speaker B:

And Dipper is very amused by overhearing Cass talk shit to Lucifer.

Speaker B:

But what this does is makes Lucifer big mad.

Speaker B:

And that means Lucifer has power.

Speaker B:

So he is able to pull Dipper up to the bars, not be affected by it.

Speaker B:

And says, rage is a good motivator and you forget I'm Lucifer.

Speaker B:

And then he uses his stick to stab Dipper in the neck.

Speaker A:

He does.

Speaker A:

Cass says someone got mad and broke his warding as they both exit their cages.

Speaker A:

And then he smites Dipper.

Speaker A:

And then Lucifer takes his angel blade because of course Dipper has an angel blade.

Speaker A:

Why does everybody have an angel blade?

Speaker A:

You're demons.

Speaker A:

You're not angels.

Speaker B:

Everybody has angel blades now.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So back at Stillwater, Rowena is bored in the car and we get this really great exchange between St. Sam and Rowena.

Speaker A:

And in it, Rowena asks if she can't enslave some town folk and just make them take us to the girls.

Speaker A:

And Sam responds, I'm very sure you can, but I'm also sure you shouldn't.

Speaker A:

And Rowena then responds with, bless your precious heart.

Speaker A:

You just Described my entire life.

Speaker A:

I'm very sure you can, but I'm also sure you shouldn't.

Speaker A:

It's so good.

Speaker B:

That is good.

Speaker B:

And Sam asks her what her plan is, though.

Speaker B:

Because he's like, you're still gonna feel helpless even if get the book after what he did to you.

Speaker B:

And she gets pissed.

Speaker B:

And she's like, no.

Speaker B:

And tell.

Speaker B:

And shares that Lucifer showed her his true face and now she's scared all the time.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, I've seen it too.

Speaker B:

It keeps me up at night also.

Speaker B:

And he didn't deal with it.

Speaker B:

He just keeps pushing it down, doesn't talk about it.

Speaker B:

That's the Winchester way.

Speaker B:

It's the Winchester way.

Speaker A:

You didn't process your trauma.

Speaker A:

You just decided to shove it down and deal with it later.

Speaker A:

I am so surprised, Mr. Winchester, because.

Speaker B:

He doesn't know how to share.

Speaker B:

So Dean has made his way to our hardware store where Brenda is there and refers to the girls as the Plum sisters.

Speaker B:

He knows who they are.

Speaker B:

They are apparently popular and a mess of trouble.

Speaker B:

And is not shocked that a man is looking for them.

Speaker B:

And she guesses that they stole his heart and he can't live without them.

Speaker B:

Them?

Speaker B:

He's like, no, they stole my book and I don't plan on being nice when I find them.

Speaker B:

And she is stoked about that, especially if he's gonna be really mean because she is not a fan.

Speaker B:

And gives him an address.

Speaker B:

But back at the car, Sam is telling Rowena that she's not gonna change what happened.

Speaker B:

And the fear that being scared doesn't really go away.

Speaker B:

And she's upset.

Speaker B:

And she's gonna step out of the vehicle for a minute and get some air because she just needs a minute.

Speaker B:

It.

Speaker B:

And Dean walks up because he's returning to the vehicle.

Speaker B:

He's got the address.

Speaker B:

And Rowena was right.

Speaker B:

He's not.

Speaker B:

They are not fan favorites in the area.

Speaker B:

So she looks at the address and says, I did my part.

Speaker B:

And drops a hex bag and freezes Sam and Dean's feet to the ground and walks off.

Speaker A:

So then she goes into the house where Jenny is still having trouble with all this weird writing in the book.

Speaker A:

And they're like, well, maybe the problem was the soul.

Speaker A:

Maybe he was bad.

Speaker A:

Maybe he wasn't a good soul to begin with.

Speaker A:

They're like, no, no.

Speaker A:

But I think it's the writing.

Speaker A:

And Rowena comes in and then she's all, you were supposed to get the book and wait for me.

Speaker A:

She was in on it the whole time.

Speaker A:

What?

Speaker A:

I am shocked.

Speaker A:

Rowena, that doesn't sound like you at all.

Speaker A:

And so the girls, him and Ha and say they can take care of themselves spells.

Speaker A:

And Rowena's like, look, I can still cast the spell like our deal.

Speaker A:

And then we take the book because, you know, which is on your level.

Speaker A:

Maybe you shouldn't have something this strong because you know, it's just not on your level.

Speaker A:

And that sets the girls off.

Speaker A:

And they're like, what do you mean we're not good enough?

Speaker B:

Because they already did the spell, mostly.

Speaker B:

And creepy dead mom enters the room and they're like, oh, step one of bringing her back.

Speaker B:

We just have to finish it after she kills you.

Speaker B:

And Rowena's like, it's not my first zombie.

Speaker B:

I got this.

Speaker B:

But apparently this zombie mom is immune to magic.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

So, yeah, yeah, magic proof, magic proof zombie mom is totally gonna eat Rowena's brain.

Speaker B:

But Dean is mad that Sam got played by letting Rowena get away.

Speaker B:

And like before, because she just had to have a minute.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, no, no, she was scared.

Speaker B:

And then he finds that he realizes or can reach the hex bag.

Speaker B:

So he's going to set it on fire so you'll be free.

Speaker B:

And they are going to go kill witches.

Speaker A:

And we're going to talk about killing some witches because it is time for lore.

Speaker A:

I say witches, I mean women, but, you know.

Speaker A:

o we're traveling back to the:

Speaker A:

And he published a treatise on witchcraft, Demonology.

Speaker A:

I heard it called today the Demonarium, but I've only.

Speaker A:

So I'm going to call it demonology because that's just what my sources say, so.

Speaker A:

Which said that it was a duty of every loyal subject of the monarch to denounce witchcraft wherever they might find it.

Speaker A:

And James was completely convinced that witches were going to undermine the social order.

Speaker A:

And lowering the bar for capital conviction.

Speaker A:

In:

Speaker A:

Prior to this, to prove witchcraft, there had to be physical evidence of malaposeum or injury to a person or an animal and or death.

Speaker A:

But we're going to really talk about people who were in Pendle, which is in Lancashire.

Speaker A:

And the people in Pendle were poor and struggling.

Speaker A:

The Duchy of Lancaster had demanded a lump sum of 12 years rent to confirm land rights, which led to a 39% increase in rents.

Speaker A:

For sub tenants.

Speaker A:

So everybody was real poor and hungry.

Speaker A:

Additionally, many of those in the Pendle region continued to practice Catholicism and secret and reviewed as lawless and subversive by the city folk of London.

Speaker A:

The dissolution of nearby monasteries and abbeys left a gap in the care for the poor.

Speaker A:

The Elizabethan Poor act of:

Speaker A:

But the sick often relied on local cunning folk who used herbal remedies, charms and primitive healing techniques.

Speaker A:

And two families led by two elderly women ran Pendle's cunning and folk magic business.

Speaker A:

The first was Elizabeth Southerns, known as Old Demdike or Mother Demdike, who lived at Malkin Tower with her daughter Elizabeth Device, a widow with three children, Alison or Alison James and Janet or Janet.

Speaker A:

Demdike allegedly had been a witch for 50 years, and she was also blind.

Speaker A:

Allison acted as her guide through town, where they practiced their main occupation of begging.

Speaker A:

Allison, who was 17, was described as a peculiar girl who avoided eye contact and whose presence unsettled the people of Pendle.

Speaker A:

The court clerk, Thomas Potts, wrote, her eyes were as wide as dinner plates, and when she deigned to meet your gaze, you were paralyzed by her glassy stare.

Speaker A:

She never seemed quite there.

Speaker A:

It was disturbing.

Speaker A:

Most modern interpretations of the story diagnose her with neurodivergence, likely autism.

Speaker A:

And they're just like, that's she just was off, you know, so.

Speaker A:

The second family was led by Ann Whittle, known as Old Chadox, whose clan included her daughter at Anne Redfern.

Speaker A:

The two families have been feuding for over 20 years, treating accusations of livestock diseases, illnesses and misfortune.

Speaker A:

nd grain from malkin tower in:

Speaker A:

When John died, his family believed Chad X had killed him for stopping the payments.

Speaker A:

tmeal and he died in March of:

Speaker A:

Allison was begging on the road to Trouton Forest when she met the peddler John Law.

Speaker A:

She asked if he had any pens.

Speaker A:

P I N s Pens were rare goods commonly used in folk magic at the time, particularly in love and love divination and protection charms.

Speaker A:

And John said no and refused to loosen his peddler's sack for her.

Speaker A:

And peddler sack just sounds dirty.

Speaker A:

So rebuked, Allison uttered a curse.

Speaker A:

And as John turned to walk down the road, he collapsed, his face going slack, and he was unable to speak.

Speaker A:

Allison was convinced her familiar, a demonic black dog she called Fancy, caused the collapse.

Speaker A:

John's son, Abraham Laud, brought a complaint that Allison and Fancy not only caused John Laud's stroke, but that they continued to torment John in his sick bed.

Speaker A:

John had seen the great black dog, and sometimes Allison with the dog, staring dead eyed at the sick man before leaving silently, which is slightly disturbing.

Speaker B:

That would be unsettling.

Speaker A:

Please don't come quietly, silently into a room, stare at me and leave.

Speaker A:

That I would not like that.

Speaker A:

But Abraham, the son, amended the story of the meeting on the road to say that John had given Allison the pens, meaning that Allison had no motive for cursing John, and she did it only because she was a witch filled with malice.

Speaker A:

I thought it'd be even better she had a reason for it, but, you know, there's just like.

Speaker A:

For no reason, she was just like.

Speaker B:

So Allison was vengeful or just mean?

Speaker B:

That was the options.

Speaker A:

,:

Speaker A:

People who wanted to suck up to King James wanted to bring him witches.

Speaker A:

So not only, though, did Allison confess to her familiar striking down John Law.

Speaker A:

She told him how she cast the curse.

Speaker A:

She said after she was refused the pens, her familiar appeared before and asked, what would still have me do at that man?

Speaker A:

What can I do at him?

Speaker A:

Allison asked.

Speaker A:

I can lame him, the dog replied.

Speaker A:

Allison agreed.

Speaker A:

And before the peddler was gone, 40 rods further fell down lame.

Speaker A:

Allison said that she got the familiar after selling her soul for the power to do anything in the world.

Speaker B:

Whoa.

Speaker A:

It's a pretty big power.

Speaker B:

That's a big power.

Speaker A:

It is.

Speaker A:

So in addition to confessing her crimes, Allison also accused her grandmother, who she blamed for her corruption, of performing a ritual which killed the daughter of a neighboring farmer.

Speaker A:

And then, not only sticking to her own family, Allison started throwing the widows, the Chadix family, under the witchcraft bus.

Speaker A:

She accused old Chaddix of killing one of her friends for laughing at her and other various witchy crimes.

Speaker A:

Roger Null then interviewed Demdike and old Chaddix, who both freely admitted to practicing witchcraft.

Speaker A:

Dem Dyke said she had made the pact with her familiar Tib.

Speaker A:

When she turned 60, old Chadis got her familiar.

Speaker A:

Five years later, both familiars took the form of young men who offered to do the women's bidding in return for their Soul and gave the women powers to heal and curse.

Speaker A:

The magic.

Speaker A:

Yeah, the magic they practice combined.

Speaker A:

I really hope they were hot young men.

Speaker A:

I left that part out.

Speaker A:

I'm just assuming that they were.

Speaker B:

I think that's a given, right?

Speaker A:

I think it is.

Speaker A:

So some magic took the form of sympathetic magic which involved the making and using of items that resemble the people they wish to have influence over.

Speaker A:

Some involve charms that combine folk beliefs with the elements of Catholic prayers.

Speaker A:

Demdike would create a picture of clay of her victims to focus her will.

Speaker A:

She would prick it with a pen or thorn in places where she wanted the person to get ill.

Speaker A:

So kind of like a poppet or what we call a voodoo doll.

Speaker A:

If she wanted to kill the person, she burned the clay.

Speaker A:

So after this conversations, Allison Dim Dyke Chadix and Anne Redfern Chadix's daughter were arrested after this on Good Friday which was April 10th.

Speaker A:

It is said there was a witch's sabbath at Malkin Tower pl To blow up Lancaster Castle and to hex the jailer to death.

Speaker A:

In reality, most of the gathering were elderly women.

Speaker A:

James Device stole a sheep to feed the group.

Speaker A:

But it just did not look great to have a bunch of people meeting on Good Friday which was the sacred day on the Christian calendar.

Speaker A:

And a subversion of this into a witch party would be super heretical.

Speaker A:

Add in a plot to explode a castle and you have escalated from witchcraft to high treason against God and the crown.

Speaker A:

So the suspected witches were arrested and committed to the dungeons of Lancaster Castle which were pretty bad as far as dungeons go.

Speaker A:

There was another good dungeons, but there was no light.

Speaker A:

There was no warmth or sanitation.

Speaker A:

Den Dyke would not survive the accommodations until trial.

Speaker A:

She died before she even got to court.

Speaker B:

Damn.

Speaker A:

21 People were on the jail calendar for the assize judges for August 18th.

Speaker A:

The assize.

Speaker A:

I just like saying that word.

Speaker A:

The assize.

Speaker A:

I know it's the assize.

Speaker A:

So the assize judges visited Pendle twice a year.

Speaker A:

Court was presided over by judges Sir James Altham and Sir Edward Bromley.

Speaker A:

Bromley was hoping for a transfer to a judicial court nearer London and knew that a successful conviction of a dangerous coven would demonstrate his loyalty to a witchcraft obsessed king.

Speaker A:

Alltham was trying to restore his reputation after being accused of a screw up at the York Assizes earlier that year.

Speaker A:

No counsel was provided provided for the defendants and they could call no witnesses of their own.

Speaker A:

The evidence presented relied on their confessions and was undoubtedly influenced by neighborhood grudges.

Speaker A:

Old Chattix was the first on trial accused of murdering Robert or John Nutter, 18 years before.

Speaker A:

She pled not guilty but confessed after evidence was presented that Dem Dyke and James Device had said earlier to Roger Noel.

Speaker A:

Elizabeth Device was next and she was charged with three counts of murder.

Speaker A:

The key witness was Jeanette, who was placed on a table in the center of the courtroom because she was nine, so everyone could see and hear her.

Speaker A:

Jenna testified that she had been a witch herself for three years and that she had conversed with a spirit in the shape of a dog.

Speaker A:

She accused her mother of murdering local villagers and having a familiar spirit in the shape of a dog named Ball.

Speaker A:

She also talked about making clay images in order to cause death.

Speaker A:

So 17th century English courts normally wouldn't allow a child to testify against their own family.

Speaker A:

ing James's witchcraft Act of:

Speaker B:

Of course.

Speaker A:

Jeanette said There are about 20 people at the witches feast of beef, bacon and mutton and she pointed them out in open court, including the wealthy gentlewoman Alice Nutter, the weaver's wife, Catherine Hewitt, alias Mold Heels and the mother pair son Jane and John Bulcock.

Speaker A:

She even described where everyone sat.

Speaker A:

Elizabeth would have to be removed from the courtroom because of her screams of anguish at her daughter's betrayal.

Speaker A:

She would be found guilty.

Speaker A:

James is tried next and also found guilty.

Speaker A:

And Redfern was tried for the death of Chris Nutter 18 years earlier.

Speaker A:

The evidence hinged on Nutter's daughter remembering their that her father believed he was a victim of a curse.

Speaker A:

She also had been seen making clay image devices by James.

Speaker A:

She had been seen making clay images by James Device and was found guilty.

Speaker A:

Next was Alice Nutter, who was not like most of the accused and the name is probably familiar.

Speaker A:

She is in Good Omens.

Speaker A:

She's a character in that.

Speaker A:

Most of a lot of the characters in Good Omens are named after the Pendle witches.

Speaker A:

But addition to that, the, the singer for Shamba Wumba changed her name to Alice Nutter.

Speaker B:

So that's funny.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So there's a statue of her anyways.

Speaker A:

Alice Nutter is one of the most more well known names of this.

Speaker A:

So she wasn't a cunning woman, nor was she poor.

Speaker A:

She was a widow of a farmer and had land and her children were of quote good hope, which I assume means they were not assholes.

Speaker A:

Jenna would choose choose her by hand in the courtroom as an attender of the feast.

Speaker A:

Some historians have speculated that she was in a land dispute with Roger Noel and her death served to reward her rival with her property.

Speaker A:

Another theory is that she was a member of a Catholic family and that she kept her silence during the trial because she attended a secret mass on Good Friday and she didn't want to get any renegade priests in trouble.

Speaker A:

So whatever the case, her conviction would be used to send a message to other Catholics in hiding at the time.

Speaker A:

Catherine Mold Heel Tewitt was also convicted based on Jenna's testimony.

Speaker A:

Jenna's evidence against John and Jane Bucock was even more absurd.

Speaker A:

Jeanette remembered John turning a spit on which they had roasted the sheep that Good Friday.

Speaker A:

t a witch, this was enough in:

Speaker B:

Kind of.

Speaker A:

It kind of reminds me of that law, you know, like when you're present at a crime just because you're there, like then you're part of the crime.

Speaker A:

And this is like you, you're just turning a spit with the witches and you that was assisting them.

Speaker A:

So you were now a witch too, and now you're being hanged.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Then Margaret Pearson was tried for killing a horse by riding it to death, which was called being hag ridden, from which we get the modern word hagger word today.

Speaker A:

I learned.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker A:

So yes,.

Speaker B:

I like learning about words.

Speaker B:

I like.

Speaker B:

We're learning about.

Speaker A:

We like etymology, not horse death.

Speaker B:

Correct.

Speaker A:

So she was convicted, although not condemned to death and said she was to be pilloried for four consecutive market days.

Speaker A:

That's when they stick your hands on the stocks and people can throw things at you.

Speaker A:

And then she also was condemned to serve a year in prison.

Speaker A:

Allison would be the last to be tried and the star witness against her was John Law, who had to be assisted into the court.

Speaker A:

Allison again begged for his forgiveness.

Speaker A:

The court asked her to restore his health and she said she wasn't powerful enough of a witch to do that.

Speaker A:

Demdike could have, but she's dead, so no dice.

Speaker A:

John.

Speaker A:

Damn.

Speaker A:

So eventually nine people were sentenced to hang for witchcraft on Gallows Hill.

Speaker A:

Elizabeth James Allison, Ann Whittle, Old Chattix and her daughter Anne Alice Nutter, Catherine Hewitt, AKA Mold Hills and Jane Bucock and her son John.

Speaker A:

It is thought that their bodies were thrown into unmarked graves or a pit on the moors as those convicted of witchcraft were denied burial and consecrated ground.

Speaker A:

Nine year old Janet was.

Speaker A:

Was not convicted.

Speaker A:

She was like she was arrested as well, so.

Speaker A:

But because of her testimony she was set free.

Speaker A:

However, in:

Speaker A:

She was accused of murdering a local woman by witchcraft by a young boy named Edmund Robinson.

Speaker A:

First, she was found guilty along with 16 others.

Speaker A:

But when Edmund's story was found to be fabricated, she was acquitted.

Speaker A:

It is likely that she was too poor to pay the board fees required for release from Lancaster Castle.

Speaker A:

And she may have died in the same dungeon her grandmother did as she disappeared from the record.

Speaker A:

So we're unsure if her feet.

Speaker B:

Damn.

Speaker A:

The book on this case written by Thomas Potts.

Speaker B:

A little karmic too, probably.

Speaker A:

Yeah, a little bit.

Speaker A:

So the book on this case written by Thomas Potts, was included in a reference manual of her magistrates, including those in the colonies in America, leading to the use of children's testimony in witchcraft.

Speaker A:

Childs.

Speaker A:

Which is what would lead to the demise of the witches in Salem.

Speaker A:

So we have this witchcraft trial to be.

Speaker A:

This is where they were like little kids can come up and say whatever they want.

Speaker A:

And we will.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

That's huh.

Speaker A:

That's a trial of the Pendle witches wild.

Speaker B:

Yep.

Speaker B:

I mean, it's sad.

Speaker A:

It is sad.

Speaker A:

And, but it's always fascinating, you know, how these and just, you know, how you the poor laws come into effect and we'll at some point, I, you know, will we have another witch?

Speaker A:

We may do.

Speaker A:

There is three other witches that were tried at the same time as, as the Pendle witches who were actually acquitted.

Speaker A:

And that's an interesting story, but it was too long for this.

Speaker A:

So we may come back to them.

Speaker A:

But yeah, just.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

I, I, I, I like witchcraft stories.

Speaker A:

And even if sad.

Speaker A:

Well, I know.

Speaker A:

Shocking.

Speaker A:

So let's get back to this witchcraft story.

Speaker A:

But we're not into witchcraft right now.

Speaker A:

So we are at Lucifer and Cass.

Speaker B:

And they are free after they fought off for more demons.

Speaker B:

And Lucifer is still trying to convince Castiel to give him some grace because this would be so much easier if he was stronger.

Speaker B:

They just fought by side by side.

Speaker B:

Don't you trust me?

Speaker B:

And Cassio's like, no, you've betrayed me a bunch.

Speaker B:

You betray everybody.

Speaker B:

Why the fuck would I trust you?

Speaker A:

You are a Lucifer.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And so Lucifer's eyes glow.

Speaker B:

And Cassiel stabs him and his eyes glow.

Speaker B:

Flicker like sputtering out between red and normal eyes.

Speaker A:

So that's also.

Speaker A:

Cass has also gotten an angel blade during this fight, so.

Speaker B:

Of course he did.

Speaker A:

Of course he did.

Speaker A:

So back at in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Rowena offers to help.

Speaker A:

The girls say it's too late, but Sam and Dean have shown up and the girls aren't afraid of guns.

Speaker A:

Until Dean tells them they have witch killing bullets.

Speaker A:

Which seems dumb because now the witches fling them and they find fight.

Speaker A:

I think you like.

Speaker A:

They go guns.

Speaker A:

And then you shoot them.

Speaker A:

And then you say witch killing bullets.

Speaker A:

You don't go witch killing bullets so they can get away.

Speaker B:

Correct.

Speaker B:

It seems like there was a lot of talk that prevented them from winning this.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So we've got Sam and Dean fighting two witches.

Speaker B:

Rowena's in the bathroom getting the door broken down by the magic immune zombie mom.

Speaker B:

And the Dean points out that the girls are really weirdly strong.

Speaker B:

Could it be a spell?

Speaker B:

And Jamie's like, you think?

Speaker B:

And it is a rough fight.

Speaker B:

They are barely holding their own.

Speaker B:

And finally Dean tells Rowena to shoot one of them in the head.

Speaker A:

The zombie?

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker B:

Because.

Speaker A:

Because losing the fight to the zombie and wants suggestion.

Speaker A:

So Dean's like, trust me.

Speaker A:

Try shooting it in the head.

Speaker B:

And then.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And then she gets the gun and.

Speaker B:

She is able to do that.

Speaker B:

And then she comes out and says a spell.

Speaker B:

And the girls let Sam and Dean go and immediately start bleeding from their eyeballs.

Speaker A:

They turn into the rage monsters is.

Speaker A:

That's the spell that Rena casts.

Speaker A:

And then she tells him to end it.

Speaker A:

And they don't go after the Winchesters.

Speaker A:

They go after each other.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

It's kind of dark.

Speaker B:

And they stab and beat each other to death.

Speaker A:

That's the end of the Plum sisters.

Speaker A:

So the Plum sisters have been demised.

Speaker A:

Rowena has the book.

Speaker A:

But the boys don't want her to keep it because they are mean.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And there she's like, this was not just a double cross.

Speaker B:

It was a triple cross.

Speaker A:

She's like the entire time, boys, you know, I'm so special.

Speaker A:

And then she begs Sam for the spell because she can't be helpless again.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

But Sam just takes the book from her and they walk and she walks away.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So we.

Speaker B:

It's time for beers in the bunker.

Speaker B:

And Dean can't believe that he got.

Speaker B:

You know, he had a.

Speaker B:

Got.

Speaker B:

Got put under a love spell and got clocked by a witch with a hammer.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I'm saying he got hammered by a witch.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

And then Sam brings up, you know, and zombie mom.

Speaker A:

And those are the details that sell the story.

Speaker A:

And then Dean says some stuff.

Speaker A:

He's like, you know, like getting beat.

Speaker B:

Up by a girl.

Speaker A:

That's a story I want to tell someone.

Speaker A:

And then Sam points out that girls beat them up all the time.

Speaker A:

That's right, Sam.

Speaker A:

True.

Speaker B:

It's true facts.

Speaker B:

And Dean Acknowledges it's true.

Speaker B:

And he that.

Speaker B:

But Dean wants to remind Sam that Rowena is not.

Speaker B:

Not their friend.

Speaker B:

Because he has already discovered this.

Speaker B:

And wants to point out that when you open the Black Grimoire, there's a page missing.

Speaker B:

And he knows that Sam that.

Speaker B:

Or that Rowena got in Sam's head and he gave her that page that she wanted for that spell.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, look, if she wants to break bad, I'll hunt her down.

Speaker B:

Like, if she goes evil again on us.

Speaker B:

But right now, I know she's right.

Speaker B:

I've seen, you know, what she's seen.

Speaker B:

And I hope that.

Speaker B:

That, you know, I hope she makes Lucifer suffer.

Speaker B:

Bam.

Speaker B:

But.

Speaker B:

And Sam finally kind of, like, talks about, like, he wants to open up about the dark place in his head because he knows what Rowena is dealing with.

Speaker B:

She's not the only one who's felt helpless.

Speaker B:

We had a plan.

Speaker B:

We were going to help Jack.

Speaker B:

We're going to bring mom back.

Speaker B:

And that's what kept me from spinning off the rails.

Speaker B:

Now there's nothing.

Speaker B:

And so Dean's like, we'll figure it out.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, I'm gonna go to bed.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So Sam's still moby, and Dean can't walk because he got hammered by a witch.

Speaker A:

And then we go to Rowena's candle shop, which is what I'm calling wherever she is at.

Speaker A:

I don't know if it is a hotel or.

Speaker B:

Looks like a hotel with a lot of candles.

Speaker A:

Not only a fire hazard.

Speaker A:

She also paid in.

Speaker A:

You paid it all over the floor.

Speaker B:

So, you know, security deposits.

Speaker C:

Gone.

Speaker B:

Fire hazard.

Speaker B:

All.

Speaker B:

All the things.

Speaker A:

I'm sure it smells good, but I'm surprised she's not even setting off some smoke alarms in here.

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker A:

So she's making some Eggos, and then everything goes all crazy.

Speaker A:

And she cuts her throat and her eyes get all bloody.

Speaker A:

And we see some purple, glowy chains on her that come off.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And now she has violet, glowy eyes.

Speaker A:

Hooray.

Speaker A:

That seems great.

Speaker B:

It does seem fun.

Speaker B:

And that's.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

This is a nice contact solution there.

Speaker A:

I got violet eyes.

Speaker A:

Look at me.

Speaker A:

I'm Elizabeth Taylor.

Speaker B:

And that's our episode.

Speaker A:

She broke the vines.

Speaker A:

She broke the ties that found her or something.

Speaker C:

So.

Speaker A:

And they were purple.

Speaker B:

They were purple.

Speaker B:

They're pretty.

Speaker A:

So do we have some purple people eaters to talk about?

Speaker C:

Casting cow.

Speaker A:

Is the casting couch.

Speaker C:

Were they on that show that time with that guy?

Speaker B:

La la la la la la la.

Speaker C:

La la la la la.

Speaker B:

To talk about.

Speaker B:

We've Got Jenny Plum was played by Elise Gatian, and she's been in episodes of Smallville and I, Zombie and Unreal and Ghost Wars.

Speaker B:

She was Candace or CJ in Tower Prep as a reoccurring character.

Speaker B:

She's a young woman in Fifty Shades of Grey and Lark in Virgin river as a reoccurring character.

Speaker B:

Jamie Plum was played by Jordan Claire Robbins.

Speaker B:

She has been episodes of the series 12 Monkeys and I, Zombie, and she is Grace in Umbrella Academy, a regular character there.

Speaker B:

Dipper was played by Shane Dean.

Speaker B:

He's been in Arrow, Fear of the Walking Dead, X Files and man in the High Castle, Marty, who died at the very beginning.

Speaker B:

He's somebody that picks up small roles in Supernatural from time to time, played by Sean Tyson.

Speaker B:

He does a lot of stunt work, so that's most of his repertoire.

Speaker B:

But Legends of Tomorrow, Charmed, Nancy Drew and Supernatural, actually.

Speaker B:

also been seen as an actor in:

Speaker B:

Dale was played by Mike Coval and he's also Kovac.

Speaker B:

Excuse me.

Speaker B:

And he's also been someone that we see, we've seen before he's done.

Speaker B:

He's mostly stuntman as well.

Speaker B:

Van Helsing, Batwoman, Last of Us are some of his credits in the stunt world.

Speaker B:

Brenda, our clerk, is played by Angela Moore, also someone that's been another episode of Supernatural.

Speaker B:

But she does.

Speaker B:

Was the voice of Lucy in Snow Dogs.

Speaker B:

I thought we should know that.

Speaker B:

And then she was Ms.

Speaker B:

Miles in the:

Speaker B:

She is.

Speaker B:

She plays the wife in Irobot and is a shelter worker in Noel.

Speaker B:

Our clerk that gets murdered is Adam Classen.

Speaker B:

He's been in episodes of Siren, Riverdale and Murder in a Small Town.

Speaker B:

And our zombie mom was played by Sharon Sims, also a stuntwoman who's been most recently doing stunts in the series L. But she's also done stunts with for the Last of Us, Sonic the Hedgehog, Trackers, Predator X Files, Snakes on a Plane, X Men, the Last Stand.

Speaker B:

She's the man as Amanda Bynes, stunt double and Blade, Trinity, iRobot and rollerball.

Speaker B:

All, well, things she did stop working.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

Yeah, there we go.

Speaker B:

Oh, man.

Speaker B:

Well, so we got Rowena back.

Speaker B:

That's the big news of the episode.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

And then we get the tragic reminder that we no longer have Crowley and also get to see, kind of.

Speaker A:

It's interesting to see her reaction to Fergus being dead as, you know, for.

Speaker A:

For happening.

Speaker A:

For real.

Speaker A:

Real for her.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And her actually having emotions for it and not just blowing it off.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it's all right.

Speaker B:

Probably, like, because I think the rest of the episode, a lot of her emotions were hard to read as to the reality of them for her character because she does use them as a tool a lot.

Speaker B:

I think the fear part is real a little bit, but obviously that reaction was probably the most legit.

Speaker B:

And then I think.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

I think, you know, Dean's still trying to give Sam the pep talk was definitely an important part of the episode, too.

Speaker B:

But we also got Lucifer figuring out how to, you know, gain his power back by being pissed.

Speaker A:

Well, I mean, on the Sam thing, you know, Sam's already moping, right?

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So he's already kind of in.

Speaker A:

And if we're, you know, serious, you know, serious diagnosis land.

Speaker A:

You know, Sam's someone who's, you know, probably suffering from depression.

Speaker A:

Lisa has, like, serious trauma issues here.

Speaker A:

Now we have Rowena basically, you know, reminding him of trauma he hasn't processed.

Speaker A:

You know, you remember about all the time that you saw Lucifer's true face and, you know, all the horrors that you're going through that you have not dealt with, that you have just, you know, put behind that wall that death set up a long time ago.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So it's.

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker A:

It's.

Speaker A:

It's interesting to have, you know, this solution still not be that same deal with his trauma again.

Speaker A:

I feel like it's still kind of getting pushed further down.

Speaker A:

Even when he tried to process it with Dean, Dean was giving still kind of.

Speaker A:

That we don't really deal.

Speaker A:

We don't process our trauma in this family kind of vibe.

Speaker A:

Like, you should still be happy, and I want you to be gung ho moving forward, but I want to talk about the second bad stuff.

Speaker A:

It's kind of.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I think it's just.

Speaker B:

I think it's hard.

Speaker B:

I think it's hard for Dean to cope with Sam being in that mindset.

Speaker B:

Because historically, when Dean's been the one that's gotten upset, Sam's the.

Speaker B:

The cheerleader for the.

Speaker B:

For the family.

Speaker B:

So that's the part.

Speaker B:

Harder part.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I know we've.

Speaker A:

Sam's been on.

Speaker A:

Has been moping for.

Speaker A:

Has been.

Speaker A:

This has been going on.

Speaker A:

Yeah, this is, you know, this is his time to do that.

Speaker B:

That.

Speaker B:

So, yeah, he's allowed to be sad sometimes, I guess.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker A:

I mean, I just.

Speaker A:

I mean, he's allowed to be sad.

Speaker A:

I just wish he would.

Speaker A:

I wish he would process the sad instead of shoving it down or Walking off.

Speaker A:

And Dean, when he gets upset,.

Speaker B:

You.

Speaker A:

Know, this is not going to solve any problems.

Speaker B:

Everybody copes differently or chooses not to cope.

Speaker B:

Just teasing about the characters.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

But, yeah, it was.

Speaker B:

It was a fun episode, though.

Speaker B:

I thought the characters were fun.

Speaker B:

I.

Speaker B:

You know, I don't know if I want more of the Plum sisters.

Speaker B:

That was a little stressful.

Speaker B:

But I also was entertained by them.

Speaker A:

I think they were fun characters.

Speaker A:

I think mainly because they were dressed cute, and that can take you really far.

Speaker A:

So they were dress cute and they had good hair.

Speaker B:

They followed their mom's rules.

Speaker A:

That was, you know, they follow their mom's rules.

Speaker A:

I appreciate a chick who can wield.

Speaker B:

A sledgehammer that's very heavy to do that effectively.

Speaker A:

It's very heavy to do that effectively because, I mean, I know she, like, wants him to hold still and that helps.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

Like, I couldn't swing a head sledgehammer at a moving target.

Speaker B:

That's a lot.

Speaker B:

I know by the time it starts coming down, like, it's like a.

Speaker B:

The.

Speaker B:

The force of it.

Speaker A:

The momentum.

Speaker C:

Right.

Speaker B:

Because you're.

Speaker B:

Momentum and gravity.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I know.

Speaker A:

I'd hit my foot.

Speaker B:

Don't do that.

Speaker B:

That sounds very painful.

Speaker A:

It sounds very painful.

Speaker A:

So I don't think I. I need a sledgehammer.

Speaker B:

No, I agree.

Speaker B:

I agree with that assessment.

Speaker B:

I don't want one either.

Speaker A:

No, No.

Speaker A:

I mean, they're fun tools to have, but.

Speaker A:

No, I kind of want a sledgehammer.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker A:

It seems like.

Speaker A:

It seems like something like you.

Speaker A:

You.

Speaker A:

Like, who has sledgehammer?

Speaker A:

Like, why do you have a sledgehammer?

Speaker A:

Like, is that part of your tool?

Speaker A:

Like your garage thing?

Speaker A:

Like, I. I just cleaned out a house where someone lived for, you know, over 40 years.

Speaker A:

I didn't find a sledgehammer there.

Speaker B:

I don't think we have one, but I could be wrong.

Speaker B:

I'd have to ask.

Speaker B:

That'd be a question.

Speaker A:

I feel like it.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

I. I know I have a crowbar.

Speaker A:

I guess you get them at Home Depot, right?

Speaker B:

I mean, I guess.

Speaker A:

Where does one buy a sledgehammer?

Speaker A:

So many questions.

Speaker B:

So many things.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

Depot.

Speaker B:

I'm gonna assume a Home Depot Stop.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Or whatever.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Hardware store Becky worked at.

Speaker A:

She stole it from Brenda or Brenda.

Speaker B:

Excuse me?

Speaker B:

Brenda.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Becky was the.

Speaker B:

Becky got mentioned in this episode.

Speaker B:

Threw me off.

Speaker B:

But Brenda.

Speaker B:

Brenda would probably be, like, very concerned if she saw them buying a sledgehammer.

Speaker B:

They must have bought it somewhere else.

Speaker B:

Well.

Speaker A:

Or stole it.

Speaker A:

Oh, that sounds like they don't pay for much.

Speaker B:

Facts, Facts.

Speaker A:

Oh, I know.

Speaker A:

I enjoyed them.

Speaker A:

They were shallow and I. I could watch more of them.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I'm saying I like them.

Speaker A:

I just say I enjoy.

Speaker A:

I know.

Speaker A:

I enjoy them.

Speaker B:

I know.

Speaker B:

I appreciate the difference, for sure.

Speaker B:

Oh, man.

Speaker B:

But, yeah, I'm intrigued to see where we're gonna go having Castiel and Lucifer on the go and with whatever they're gonna try to do.

Speaker B:

We've got a lot.

Speaker B:

I mean, we're halfway through the season and we've got a lot that to.

Speaker A:

Address, so a lot to go on.

Speaker A:

We still don't know where Jack and Mary are, so we've gotta, we gotta suss that out.

Speaker B:

And then that whatever Kaya and the Kaya in a robe, whoever that is coming around now.

Speaker B:

So we haven't seen that in a couple episodes either.

Speaker A:

No, I haven't seen that one either.

Speaker B:

We'll see this.

Speaker A:

We'll see how that ends up.

Speaker A:

All right, I think this is a note we ended on.

Speaker C:

So.

Speaker A:

Cheers.

Speaker A:

Cheers.

Speaker B:

Cheers, bitch.
